  • Great Place for Couples or Families

"My wife and I stayed 5 nights at this house in June 2016, and we would ABSOLUTELY go back! The grounds are beautiful and make you feel very secluded. It is in a very quiet section of the island, but it is very close to Hope Town, a convenience store, and several restaurants. You will practically have the beach in front of the house to yourselves, and having "On Da Beach" next door was much more of an amenity than an issue - nice to have good, relatively inexpensive (for the Bahamas) food and drinks right next door, plus they close down around 7 p.m.! You can't beat having breakfast overlooking the ocean and sitting on the back deck at night to see a million stars! The main house is divided into LR/DR/K/MBR in larger unit, with a double bed and single bed plus bath unit across the breezeway. Small cottage on the grounds sleeps at least 2 more. It was just the two of us on this visit, but we could easily see bringing the whole family plus a couple of friends, and everyone would be quite comfortable and have some private space. The owner and property managers were excellent and very responsive. We really couldn't have asked for a better experience!"

  • Beautiful Mansion on the Beach

"This house is spectacular and easily accommodated our group of 13. We had 3 families with adult kids and we loved the 6 bedroom/6 bath arrangement as well as a large dining table that we had many a great dinner around! Loved the deck and the fact that the public dock is a short walk away - highly recommend renting a boat or two to island hop. We did not rent golf carts - if you're looking to go to Hopetown, that would be a great idea. We boated to the Hopetown Harbor and were able to walk to the Abaco Inn for a nice dinner out, but the walk to Hopetown would be a bit long. There is a grocery store and liquor store within a short walk of the house as well - so you have all you need right there. The house is nicely equipped with cooking implements/coffee maker and plenty of dishes - loved that we had laundry facilities as well. The property manager was readily available to assist with a couple of issues we encountered and in general, we were very pleased with the property. We used the pool and walked down to the oceanfront and enjoyed the spectacular view from the balcony every morning. Paradise!!!"

  • Best Vacation Ever

"Really tempted to say how awful everything was.... so no one will rent and we can come back again and again without all the competition from other VRBO users. BUT -- that would be totally self-serving. This is a perfect hide-away. The walk/bike to the settlement was very easy. The recommendation for boat rental was perfect. The local knowledge is stunning -- I mean this couple has been in HopeTown for 20 years. We can't wait to come back -- and will do that ASAP. Hurry and book this gem before we snatch up any available time. Thanks for a delightful stay, Vince & Jean"

  • Best House Setting for a Large Group

"We had the pleasure of staying in Sea Life this summer. There were ten of us with lots of extra space! This house is perfect for several families to share. Four bedrooms have kings so no one shares a queen bed! The 12 downstairs bunks are very sturdy and XL for taller kids (6' +) They enjoyed the television (brought their own game systems) and ping pong table. The setting is the most SUPERB we have ever had on Elbow Cay. We have rented other large homes...WaterMark, Bali Hai (not for rent now), Paradise, Barefoot Beach (our first). The house is located on very calm, clear water. We LOVED floating on the rafts watching the sunset. We also enjoyed the 2 paddleboards. I agree with the other reviewers about the oceanside. Our older kids will spear fish and lobster on that side, but it is not conducive for a leisurely swim. This location is PERFECT for younger children. We drive our own boats from Florida and boat 1-3 times a day. Fishing, Island hopping, going to dinner at Seaspray, Firefly or Lubbers Quarters. There is a public dock very close to Sea Life. It accommodated our 37' and 32' boats. We never had a problem finding a space. GOOD TO KNOW: There have been increasing thefts of outboard engines (or the whole boat) in the Bahamas - including Elbow. If you dock your own boat in a public space, have a lock for outboard engines. We prefer to have our boats at a secure marina - inboard and outboard, but it isn't always convenient. This trip, we rented slips at Hopetown Harbour Marina. It was about an hour round trip there and back to get a boat and drive it to the north end dock. Two people - every morning and evening - not convenient. We prefer to have a dock at the rental house, but it isn't totally necessary IF we can reach the marina by golf cart. It is more convenient for us to rent a house with a dock (like White Sound) or stay on the Central or South part. This is the second house we have stayed in the North end. HOPE TOWN rules: You cannot drive a golf cart from the north through town to the south. The restaurants WILL PICK UP and DROP OFF at the center, but you cannot drive yourself. The house has many bicycles but we did not use due to the summer heat. HOUSE - Immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, nice linens SETTING - Best on all of ELBOW - the calm water steps away is glorious. LOCATION - not our favorite for boats, grocery or getting to restaurants. But is secluded and quiet. WORTH THE MONEY"
