  • beautifully appointed in great location

"Our group of four adults and two tweens were a perfect fit for this lovely home. The bay side location is a block from the water taxis and all the restaurants and shops in Dunmore Town. While folks have their preferences for one side or the other, I like the bay side as it is less blustery at night on the verandas etc. We used golf carts to zip around (mostly to the grocery and out at evenings to resorts and restaurants and the ocean side) but much of the island is walkable. Each morning we walked to the opposite side of the island (5 minutes--a minute by golf cart) and did 4 mile beach walks -- heaven! We runned speed boats most days too. So much to do and the water is always beckoning. Andrew's home offers many areas for enjoyment indoor and out. Nice views, comfortable nooks, private and lush. The kids were in the pool everyday. The adults enjoyed cocktails on the mid-level and topside perches. Nice breezes made for perfect nights. We cooked in for breakfast and several dinners which is a money saver as the restaurants are pricey. The kitchen has much of what you need--not gourmet but better than most rentals for sure and a water cooler. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bedroom AC units made for a good night's rest. Daily light cleaning service and on-island house manager were appreciated. Truly a great experience and beautiful home and a big contributor to how much we loved Harbour Island. We will rent this same place when we return (which I hope is soon!)"

  • Sea Shell is a Jewel in the Crown

"We've now stayed at 4 places in Eleuthera, and looked at 5 or 6 more in person, and Sea Shell is one of our favorites. We weren't sure what Windermere Island would be like,--afraid it might feel cut off from Eleuthera proper, but that wasn't our experience at all. Yes, it was private, and we rarely saw other people on the beach, unlike at Twin Coves, for example, where we saw Spring Breakers as well as families and multiple couples. But it made going to Rock Sound (for the airport, groceries or the blue hole) & Tarpum Bay (for fresh fish) very easy. We especially loved the view from the decks and the living room. At night when we turned on the outside lights it was such a surprise to see the palm trees lit up. Dramatically beautiful! And...that beach! I loved walking the short but beautiful path to the beach. It was so alluring we didn't go many other places. The tides varied widely, so at low tide the beach was extremely wide. We had many excellent beach days, always with wind to keep the bugs away. A few days the wind was a bit much, but that meant sunning by the protected pool or going exploring. We went to Lighthouse Beach one day, and that was staggeringly beautiful. Not fair to compare Lighthouse Beach to anything else, but it is a commitment. Sea Shell's beach is a magnificent second. The house feels classic. First of all, it's clear that Sea Shell is lived in by real people. Things make sense, and it's not a generic rental with minimal attention to detail. The single-story design makes getting around very easy. Every room feels nearby but the bedroom layout affords lots of privacy. The master bedroom was extremely comfortable. Two of the bedrooms are accessed only from the outside, making them removed enough from the others for quiet, but not remote. We cooked up a storm in the kitchen, which, while not new, was well appointed with everything we needed. (This has not been the case everywhere!) There are at least 3 outside patio areas facing the Atlantic, plus the pool area, so it's easy to take advantage of outdoor living. Housekeeper Beryl generously waited for our arrival, later than we expected, and graciously answered any questions we had, and gave us the space we requested--we were happy to take care of ourselves. The owners were very easy to deal with--not a lot of fuss, and very straightforward and friendly. All in all, Sea Shell worked very well for us, and everyone in our group would be happy to return there!"

  • Quiet seaside escape

"The Palms looks much as the pictures although no camera on earth adequately captures the amazing shifting blues and greens in the sea! The cottage was perfect for my daughter and myself, we are adventurous and so did not mind seclusion and privacy at the end of our days, and it WAS quiet! We snorkeled right out front (loved the ease of access from the steps and moat!) and saw great coral and fish! We also had rented a car and explored several beaches, with Tippy'''s our final favorite due to simplicity of access and great drinks that we enjoyed on the pink sand beach from the tiki huts at the bottom of the steps! We did get stuck in the sand once so beware! But friendly locals helped us right out of that jam so now it's just a great adventure story! The Palms is a great central location for checking out the island, and accessing groceries, liquor, banks and gas with just a little drive time. We appreciated the wifi at day's end and the ac and ceiling fans too as (big surprise) it's quite HOT in Eleuthera in late June! Thanks to Tim for the rental and to Sue for the car and her lovely hospitality! Do not miss Island Farms for the pineapple salsa and smoked fish...also a good Bloody Mary mix!"

  • Better than Expected

"We stayed at this house in Nov 2016! We will absolutely stay here again, it was excellent. The house, the people and the island. Scott was easy to rent from and work with. Here are a few tips if you go: 1. Read the guest books at the house the first day! Will give you LOTS of info for the island. 2. Get to know the locals! We were a bit nervous our first day as we arrived near dark and didn't have our bearings, but as soon as we started interacting with the locals, we loved the place! 3. Plan plenty of time at the house, we found our self sitting on the deck watching the ocean and the "giant aquarium" below for hours! Snorkeling at the house, we saw moray eels, an eagle ray, sting rays, lion fish, puffer fish, sea turtles, angel fish and much more just at the house. We would absolutely go back and have already given the link to this house to 4 other couples considering a trip to Eleuthera after seeing my wife's Instagram pics. Thanks Scott, Eric & Amelia Villeneuve"
