  • True Island Living

"My husband and I have been visiting Harbour Island for years and have stayed in numerous homes and hotels in the area. This trip to Harbour Island was a last minute decision and Touchstone Cottage was available. First of you will have a difficult time finding anything this close to the beach at this price. The cottage is sent back behind a dune from the beach surrounded by a lush tropical trees. The cottage does not sit alone it is a guest house to the main home on the property. With that said it is very private. The beach path is right out of the property and bam you will have the gorgeous Pink Sand beach to yourself. The cottage is located in the southern end of Harbour Island which is much more quiet which is what we prefer. When we entered the cottage we were very pleased , it was very clean , cute and comfortable a true island cottage. Spacious , had ceiling fans and wall unit Air Conditioning in every room. Personally we don't care how the AC comes out we just want it to be cool and it was. The kitchen had everything you need like coffee maker, fridge, cutlery ,plates etc. The owner will also supply you with a large jug of bottled water for drinking and making coffee. We especially liked having 2 separate bathrooms (his /hers) . One of the bedrooms has a queen bed and the other has 2 double beds. The homeowner will also have a basket of fresh beach towels for you. We loved staying at the cottage, for us it felt like we lived there. We would probably stay there again. The only thing i would recommend is getting a filter for the water that goes into the home. Unfortunately the Island water is not great. And when your wall AC goes out get some mini splits they are so economical, cold and quiet. So if you are looking for luxury, resort and people around you like the people that gave the poor rating this is not for you. But if you want to feel like you are living on the Island like a local , privacy, clean home, and have the beach to your self the Touchstone Cottage is for you."

  • Amazing place for a beautiful and quiet getaway for two

"My husband and I stayed for a week at Bahama Sunset in early July and had the most wonderful time. It is the perfect place for a quiet getaway in a most spectacular setting. We got up every morning enjoying coffee on the deck overlooking the amazing Caribbean waters and listening to the gentle waves against the rocks. Then down to feed the school of Sargent majors who are always looking for some bread. We found ourselves going out to explore the beautiful beaches of Eleauthera during the day, but always looked forward to coming back to the house in the evening to snorkel in our own private cove and then enjoy the sunset over cocktails before dinner on the deck. The house is very comfortable and cozy for 2 people and is very well kept. The AC worked real well also as it was needed at night. It was very warm as expected for July. I would have to say that this was one of the best vacations we have had. Thank you Scott for opening your home and allowing us to spend time at this magical place."

  • Quiet seaside escape

"The Palms looks much as the pictures although no camera on earth adequately captures the amazing shifting blues and greens in the sea! The cottage was perfect for my daughter and myself, we are adventurous and so did not mind seclusion and privacy at the end of our days, and it WAS quiet! We snorkeled right out front (loved the ease of access from the steps and moat!) and saw great coral and fish! We also had rented a car and explored several beaches, with Tippy'''s our final favorite due to simplicity of access and great drinks that we enjoyed on the pink sand beach from the tiki huts at the bottom of the steps! We did get stuck in the sand once so beware! But friendly locals helped us right out of that jam so now it's just a great adventure story! The Palms is a great central location for checking out the island, and accessing groceries, liquor, banks and gas with just a little drive time. We appreciated the wifi at day's end and the ac and ceiling fans too as (big surprise) it's quite HOT in Eleuthera in late June! Thanks to Tim for the rental and to Sue for the car and her lovely hospitality! Do not miss Island Farms for the pineapple salsa and smoked fish...also a good Bloody Mary mix!"
