  • Eleutheras best kept secret

"My husband and I recently visited the island of Eleuthera to celebrate our first year of marriage. The island is absolutely beautiful just about everywhere you go however nothing beat our backyard view from the seahorse cottage. Terry and Kimmie, the owners of the property and Eleuthera natives, were able to give their expert advice on the very best local restaurants an absolute "must sees". Every piece of advice they gave us was spot on. Atop a hill overlooking a beautiful lagoon and surrounded in the lush green landscape and native fruit trees, The property is sure to provide the perfect escape from reality. The personal connection and passion for the island Terry and Kimmie possess makes the island feel like home, something the larger hotels or resorts simply cannot offer we will definitely be back . We cannot wait to return and visit all of our favorite places again and stay with her newfound friends."

  • excellent vacation

"I stayed at this lovely home with my 8 year old son, husband, and mom. We had an absolute blast. First, we had some issues with the home such as the telephone not working and the refrigerator and wifi being out; however, we travel the world and we understood that being on an Island has different expectations from washington DC. So we sat back and just enjoyed the ride. Arthur worked hard to fix the problems and the owners went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of for the issues. Back to the home, we would love to come back to this haven. This was the best beach for us. My husband and I are avid scuba divers (having dove in Bali, Sri Lanka, all over the Carribean), we wanted to get our son comfortable with snorkeling. Could not have picked a better spot. The home is on a very peaceful cove with lots of fish to see in the water. We saw the grouper, huge schools of fish, some rays, a rare bat fish, lobster, tons of crabs. We snorkeled and my son fished all day long. We rented the kayaks and enjoyed kayaking around the cove whenever we pleased. There is a short path around the house that my mother took to get the beach. We spent most of our time at the house. We did drive around the island to visit the beautiful deserted beaches. We mostly cooked at home but had some great meals. We did not get eaten alive by any bugs. Also, the owners were wonderful about answering all of my questions. The home is great for a small family or two couples. It's not fancy but we loved it and would really love to go back. The only issue holding us back is the island airline which is always late and caused us a missed connection. Grocery stores are a bit lacking but we made by with lots of visits to the nearby organic market (amazing homemade bread) and fresh fish from the fish monger (its 1 man in a beaten up dive suit)---what an experience...highly recommend it for those seeking quiet relaxation at your own pace and on island time. Especially for those of you not looking for the Nassau experience, this is the Bahamas many years ago before the tourists took over. We fell in love with Eleuthera at Serenity Cove."

  • Summer Breeze Is A Comfortable Getaway House With Everything

"Summer Breeze isn't fancy but it is clean, comfortable and has everything you need to relax. It is truly what a house rental should be because it actually is set up to be a home away from home in a beautiful place. It had everything as advertised and the kitchen was well equipped with kitchen gadgets etc. to please the discerning kitchen cook. My children were very sad to leave after enjoying the toys and gear. He said "this has every sport that I have ever wanted to try!" They have dvd players and tons of dvd's for kids and adults to enjoy after a long day at the beach and a deck and hammock to nap on. Caretakers Johnny and Nancy were wonderful and met us right there at the dock and rented us a cart that was great. Every room has a sliding door to the deck. The grill is better than my own at home and worked beautifully. I Can't say enough except that we will definitely be back as soon as possible. Also take time to explore Spanish Wells a little and you will meet some nice people. There is also a park with a nice little pink sands beach at the west end of the island where the bridge is."
