  • Great location . beautiful beach

"couldn't ask for a more perfect spot. beautiful sugar sand beach on a shallow bay and very few people around. Took Kayaks and a picnic basket out to the sandbar that pops up at low tide and collected shells. has to be one of the friendliest places I have ever been to ."

  • Summer Breeze Is A Comfortable Getaway House With Everything

"Summer Breeze isn't fancy but it is clean, comfortable and has everything you need to relax. It is truly what a house rental should be because it actually is set up to be a home away from home in a beautiful place. It had everything as advertised and the kitchen was well equipped with kitchen gadgets etc. to please the discerning kitchen cook. My children were very sad to leave after enjoying the toys and gear. He said "this has every sport that I have ever wanted to try!" They have dvd players and tons of dvd's for kids and adults to enjoy after a long day at the beach and a deck and hammock to nap on. Caretakers Johnny and Nancy were wonderful and met us right there at the dock and rented us a cart that was great. Every room has a sliding door to the deck. The grill is better than my own at home and worked beautifully. I Can't say enough except that we will definitely be back as soon as possible. Also take time to explore Spanish Wells a little and you will meet some nice people. There is also a park with a nice little pink sands beach at the west end of the island where the bridge is."

  • Great!

"Great vacation! Jody and Tara are wonderful hosts and helped coordinate our transport to and from the airport very well, even when our plane got delayed and one of our bags got put on the wrong plane (Jody got it through customs and delivered to our doorstep by the time he'd given us the local tour). When we got to the property there was a delicious fresh lemon meringue pie baked by Jody's wife Tara waiting for us. The house was very clean and well decorated, as was the surrounding grounds and garden. The kitchen is extremely well stocked - pots, pans, baking trays, seasonings, drinking water, and grill on porch. We chartered a boat from Jody for 2 days to go snorkeling and to go reef fishing. This was an excellent experience as well. Jody is very accommodating and provided a very competitive rate. We were considering renting our own boat, but his expertise was invaluable. We had ~almost~ more fish than we could eat - if we were doing it in the future, we would put the fishing day first so there wouldn't be such a rush to eat! Spanish Wells is a beautiful place, very safe, and full of friendly locals. It does not feel touristy at all. We bumped into a few other groups of tourists on the beach but it was really quite private and relaxing. Tips for future guests: (a) everything on the island is extremely expensive so I would bother bringing little things like shampoo/soap; (b) try the restaurants for local specialties like conch salad at Budda's or conch chowder at Eagle Landing for example, but eating out can be pricey and its nice to grab some fresh lobster and grill on the porch too; (c) we all seem to have gotten coral sting which we didn't know was a thing, so if you're snorkeling try not to scrape your knees and also try to dry off completely when you leave the water in case of any larvae, (d) it's quite hard to find fresh seafood being sold to the public because most of it is exported wholesale - Bernard is one of the only local fishermen who sells his daily catch. He's located on the stretch of road between the public park (which is beautiful) and the docks and is a great guy and worth visiting just for a chat. When we dropped by there were 2 3-foot tarpon swimming in the shallow water around his dock which were amazing to see as well. He advised us to visit his son's shop - the Ponderosa shell shop, which was also worthwhile. TLDR: Spanish wells is amazing, great house, visit Bernard @3pm."
