  • Neat and Clean and Large rooms!

"Darrin Sands and his wife were kind enough to offer us all 3 floors for our very large family! It was perfect. A 2 bedroom 2 bath apt. on the 1st floor. As advertised on the 2nd and the 3rd has 4 bedrooms and 1 bath (dormitory style). So 2 large kitchens 4 baths 2 living rooms and 2 dining rooms! Not fancy but very nice and clean. (only the 2nd floor 3 bd apt has been redone and advertised but we were happy with the rest of the house as well)! 2 washers and dryers, all kitchen items needed. no BBQ but most houses did not have one. the wrap around balconies/ porch are huge. You can see both the harbor and ocean from this apt. The house is located at the end of a block on the hill next to the docks with little yard but 2 blocks to beautiful beach and down a set of steps to the docks! A golf cart or bicycles will be helpful for exploring. Spanish Wells has a large grocery and Pinder's Supermarket. There are several "Take Away" as well as sit down restaurants. Most have basic fair but well made. "The Gap" has amazing local made desserts and great prices. Residents are extremely helpful and friendly. Darrin Sands is the manager, he and his wife thought of everything! They made a trip to the grocery for us realizing that the stores would be closed for holiday our first few days and a gift of fresh baked, (still warm) chocolate chip and nut bread she made just for us!!!! Johnny Underwood rented us a boat for the week and helped to find us this house and the large house we rented. Between he and Darrin anything can be arranged. Thank you for sharing your giant home and your beautiful island!"

  • Trip of a Lifetime

"This was a trip of a lifetime. I had been trying to talk my wife into going for several years and finally got her to do it for our 15th Anniversary..... We also decided we couldn't experience this beautiful island without our the 3 kids ( 7 yr old twin girls, 5 yr old son). We all 5 had one of our best experiences ever, from the time we landed in Northern Eleuthera via Pineapple Air to the time Mr. Underwood picked us up at 5:45 AM to take us back across the water to start our return trip. Sunnyside was perfect for a family and was well equiped. The kids and wife loved the kayak and paddle boards. The view from the kitchen/den and back porch were amazing and relaxing. The beach has a short path over the dune from the back of the house to the almost private beach. We might have seen 5 other people at any one time on the whole beach. The kids played almost all day, every day out in the water and in the beautiful soft sand. We ventured out to the sandbar and found shells. We walked out into the less than waist deep water(at low tide) until we couldn't walk anymore. One day we went out with Captain Smiley and Captain Ron for a snorkeling and fishing trip, which was amazing. They took us all around Egg Island and the kids worked their way out from the beach to swimming around the reef offshore. They even let them run around and the girls do cart wheels on a flat in the middle of the sea. This was their favorite part of the trip. Then we got back on the boat and Capt Smiley helped all 3 kids each catch plenty of fish. These guys made sure we had a great time. Capt Ron even gave us some mahi mahi to take home to cook. The food on the island is ok. Lots of the same frozen type generic foods at almost every place. Breakfast was good at the restaurant next to the grocery and bank. Shipwrecks near the harbor was very good. We had dinner at the yacht club that was pretty good as well. We cooked a couple of nights and picked up crawfish tails at the fish market by the harbor, which were excellent. We made several trips to the grocery for breakfast and lunch goods and it had everything you could want. It was a little high priced but for just a week and on this great island, it's worth the price. Overall, we will definitely go back, not sure when but hopefully sooner than later. Lorraine and Anna-Claire took great care of every detail. Thanks again!"

  • Perfection

"Every thing you could want in a family vacation. A perfect place to stay, beautiful spot for swimming, kayaking, walking, running, kid friendly, and relaxing. Enjoy the sunrise and sunset. Fresh made conch salad at Budhi's around the corner, and homemade ice cream in the evening from Papa Scoops. Broke our heart to have to leave a day early, due to high winds coming and the boat not running for a couple days. Oh well. We will definitely be back. Everyone of the family loved it."

  • Third wonderful stay

"All the pervious reviews are spot on! This beach house is everything described and more. This was our third stay at the house and that speaks for itself. We were three couples and had plenty of space. As usual, we rented buggys from the wonderful caretaker Johnny and our two weeks just flew by. We are already booked for next January, along with the other two couples."
