  • Secluded property in paradise

"We really enjoyed our time on Windermere Island. The house is very nice and the bedrooms are spacious! Each has access to a bathroom including the single twin bedroom. The living area is open and nice for enjoying family. The home is nicely furnished and had lots of books, games, snorkels, and fins. There were lots of beach towels as well. We hired a chef, Kaynell Scavella, to prepare our meals and she was delightful. We planned each meal in advance and the food was amazing! We all miss Kaynell and Pebbles and the conch fritters. You can take the pool chairs to the beach - but it's not easy. So, we rented beach chairs and extra kayaks. The double kayak at Hamilton House is very nice. However, it's not recommended that you use these at the beach in front of the house as the water is rough and not as smooth as the Savannah Sound. Bobbette's (caretaker for the home) husband was able to take these over to the sound where the waters are calm, beautiful, and full of sea turtles. We really enjoyed kayaking there each day and it's a short bike ride away. The beach is very private (I think we saw 3 families the entire week). The home is situated near other cottage like homes that flank each side of Hamilton house down towards the beach (not visible in the picture of the property). I was thankful that we had a car as there are so many beautiful places to explore on Eleuthera. We spent one morning at Oceanview Farm near Governor's Harbour riding horses next to the ocean. I highly recommend this if you love horses. It was a treat for the group. We also hired Donald (Eleuthera Tours) to take us out to the Marker Cays. We snorkeled and found lots of sea biscuits and conch shells there. The boat was very small, but it was very nice and perfect for our family. We rode our bikes each night over to a dock at the end of the street to watch the sunset each night which was our favorite way end to each day. The home has good wifi and we only had one power outage (which is very common in the Bahamas). Fortunately, it didn't last very long. We traveled over to Harbour Island ($5/per person) for the day which was really fun. We rented a golf cart ($50) there and enjoyed lobster quesadilla's at Sip Sip. Finally, Matthew Simon (property manager), was extremely responsive and provided lots tips and helpful information to make our vacation truly special. If you are looking for a secluded piece of paradise - you will enjoy Hamilton House."

  • A Dream Vacation!

"My husband and I stayed at Turtle Dreams for a week in late March and just can't explain how magical this home and this island are! The home is simply beautiful with so much room to spread out and so many different levels to view amazing Coco Bay as well as the ocean view side! The peace and quite that we experienced there is something I will not forget - ever. I wanted to see the island and yet I found it hard to leave the house! The beauty of the island can't be explained - you must see it to fully feel it and understand how special it is. We walked the path (so close!) to Coco Bay on one day the the ocean path (just as close) the next - both breath-taking beaches. We are from Florida and have been to almost every beautiful beach in the state so we know a gem when we wee one! We were coming back one night from Harvey's (heavenly Grouper sandwiches) and the full moon had just started to rise over the ocean - beauty beyond words. We stopped and sat in the cart for about thirty minutes knowing that it would be a long time before we ever saw anything like this again- ever! The island feels so safe and we never worried about anything the entire time we were there. The people are so sweet and helpful - wonderful!!! We loved the cart rides on the sandy roads - so much fun! I fell in love with my roosters - smiled every morning when I hear them. Mary Lowe is an absolute darling and made us feel totally at home and got us all set up - wonderful gal. We fished with Ricky Sawyer and caught Bonefish - had an absolute blast and Ricky is just the coolest guy you could want to meet. I can't imagine how our week could have been any better. The house was so much more than we expected and so is the island. The final few days (when we thought we had seen everything) we made it over to Gilium Bay to do some snorkeling - the most beautiful water I have ever seen in my life! Anyway, can you tell we are going back!!!??? Don't miss this one - opportunity of a lifetime. When you return home to your routine you will find that you have a much clearer picture if what life is supposed to be and you can make some adjustments. Ha!!!"

  • Other worldly!!

"Perfect get away on this charming little island, in a setting capable of transporting you in time. The house is more spacious than it looks from the front door! No traffic noise -- no cars on the island, just golf carts. This property is well kept and well equipped from pool table to linens, and will allow complete privacy if that's your preference. Everything is a short walk, whether you want to grab a meal out, get groceries, find a home bakery, shop, meet the locals, fish, walk the entire island (doesn't take long) or rent a boat. The accommodations leave nothing to be desired, and the wrap around porch allows one to escape for quiet time without leaving the property, all with a wonderful view to the water over the lush landscape. One could rent this property for total quiet while working on a novel, or bring along the entire family to spend quality time together. The only issue one might have is if you want wine with dinner, you best pack it in!!! You won't find it here. We flew into Marsh Harbor and did our shopping there before hiring a water taxi to bring us to Man 'O War. We can't wait to go back!!"

"We have just returned from the beautiful Bahamas and would highly recommend staying in this property. A very quiet building made it perfect for rest and relaxation and had all the amenities conveniently in one spot. The pool is lovely as is the beach. Do not miss the sunrise from the beach. Photos of the condo are accurate and it is very comfortable spot. Solomon's grocery store is a short bus ride away for $1.25 each way. For a bit extra they will often bring you right to your door if you have a large grocery order. Tourism is the largest industry and you will find the people very helpful and friendly. Bahamians always great you as they pass on the street with a good morning or a Y'all right? If you are looking to travel the island, talk to one of the taxi drivers. Often they will charge a per head rate and take you where you wanted to go.There were several ideas on pamphlets of things that were available to do and any number of . Any questions were answered promptly by the owner. Definitely going to rent this glorious space again!"
