  • One of the best vacations we have had!

"We stayed here in Feb. with 2 other families, this was everyone's first time to Ambergris Caye. The house had more than enough room for 10 people. One of the groups concerns, before arrival, was safety. I was unsure about the kids and how most of the rooms opened to the outside instead of the main house. All worries quickly disappeared! The kids bunked in one inside room and the parents of the youngest child stayed in the other. There wasn't one time that anyone in the group felt unsafe or threatened. The neighborhood patrol guys did a great job, even one night when some in our group forgot to lock the front door and the wind blew it open. They woke up Mario, who came and locked all the doors for us! All the locals we met were friendly and never pushy, the whole island gives you a very relaxed, friendly feeling. Our individual families are use to staying in time shares while vacationing. I think it is safe to say that each family was pleasantly surprised with our Villa Twin Dolphin experience! Mario was very helpful. We had a few technical difficulties, that couldn't be helped, the first couple of days. Mario was very attentive and made sure any problems were taken care of quickly. He helped with any need we had. The house is just far enough from town to give a quiet, peaceful feeling (although our group isn't always quiet), yet close enough if you need to run a quick errand, go out for a meal or do some exploring. The pool was awesome. It was nice to have a vacation that you didn't have to get up early to get a good spot by the pool, worry about your kids being too loud or other things you sometimes run into when sharing a pool with other guests. We were all impressed with the layout of the pool too! It is 3 feet on one end, a drop off to 7ft. in the middle and 4ft. on the other end. We also went on a few excursions with someone that Mario recommended. Gass and his crew took us fishing/snorkeling with the kids one day, then offered to take us to secret beach by boat, we then went another day on an adult fishing trip and last he took us snorkeling and to shark ray alley. We all really enjoyed the times we spent on the boat and the crew was great company to spend the day with. They prepared lunch on two of our full day trips, breakfast and lunch on our all day fishing trip as well as water, soda, beer and Rum Punch. Everything was delicious! I could go on and on about how awesome the vacation was, but you should really see it for yourself!"

  • Beyond Perfect!!

"This was my first time to use Luxury Retreats and it will be my go to place for all future vacations!! The service was outstanding, the transfers from the airport were set and ready to go, arriving at the Villa and check in was flawless. When it was time for departure everything was set and on time, truly a stress free vacation. The Villa itself was exceptional and the condominium project was the best on the island. The location was perfect to be able to travel to town or the more remote north end of the island. I highly recommend this Villa and Luxury Retreats!!"

  • Best deal on Ambergris Caye. Get ready to unplug, relax and enjoy the reef in an island paradise.

"We flew into the international airport in Belize City. We got delayed on our flight in (bad weather in the US), but Tropic Air just adjusted our times and got us on the next plane out. Really accommodating. They have flights every 30 minutes or so. We tried the water taxi on our last trip, but the taxi ride from the airport to the boat was 30 minutes and it takes about 1 1/2 hours to travel on the water taxi to Ambergris Caye. I think the views are worth the $80 each way. Iz, the owner of Playa Del Sol, is a world traveler. We were so impressed by the house that he intelligently designed. Iz had us picked up directly from the local airport and taken shopping at a local grocery store. They had our groceries brought to the boat for us and then it was and easy 20-minute boat ride up the shore. The reef is 25 miles long and only a half mile off shore. The captains (two for each trip) that Iz hires are licensed guides for all the reserves. They filleted all our fish and prepared our lobster and conch each day. We encountered Dolphins, Tarpon, and Turtles because they knew where to look. Don't miss Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley reserves, some of the best in the Western Hemisphere. The guides fed the animals of the Shark Ray Alley so nurse sharks came right up to the boat as we jumped into the water. There is another reserve just off Playa Del Sol called Mexican Rocks (where you don't have to pay an entrance fee) We loved the Coral Garden area south of San Pedro. With 25 miles of reef, you never see the same thing twice. We paid only for the gas for the boat (about $250 for the whole week) and tips for the guides (~$20 each per day) the rest was included in the price of the house rental. The price for 6 of us was a bargain. The house is perfect, classy, stylish, and cozy. The furniture is from hand crafted local hardwoods that Iz personally designed. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our freshly caught fish each night. There is a big screen TV, DVD player, and good Wi-Fi too. There's a sizable beach front, coconut trees, and a volleyball court. The El Norte Bar is just steps from the front door. Chris will serve you drinks anytime, the food is good too. Coming to Playa Del Sol was worth every penny spent, we got lost in amazing island life. This was our second trip, but will not be our last."
