  • Beautiful Place and Secluded Getaway - Look No Further!

"Ocean's Edge had a magical pull for both my boyfriend and I. We were looking for a private getaway, without being in a hotel chain, where we were able to call our retreat our "home away from home" and it was just that. When we arrived, we were the only guests and had the private beach to ourselves for a few days prior to our neighbor checking into their house (two houses share the beach) and surprise, it was Virginia - a guest who has stayed at these houses a few times and we couldn't have lucked out with a better neighbor! Although we had a neighbor, we still felt like it was our very own private special place and it was great to also have the resources of someone who had been here before and knew the lay of the land! Every morning, my boyfriend and I found ourselves waking up right before sunrise to witness some of the most beautiful sunrises from the cozy chairs or hammocks under the pilapa, before finding ourselves slowly getting ready to do anything or nothing at all. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and we enjoyed the fresh coconuts, figuring out how to husk them and then cook with them as well. We did utilize the bicycles as well as the kayaks during our stay and would advise guests to do so as well. If you are staying here, and are looking to go into town (Placencia) at all, either rent a car or just learn the bus schedule. The bus schedule is super easy to learn and is super cheap ($2 one way into Placencia, the stop is across the street from the houses) but please bear in mind that the last trip going back to Maya Beach leaves Placencia at 2:30pm. Ocean's Edge Beach Houses is literally one dock away from the best restaurant, Maya Beach Bistro, that we ate at and we felt like we lived there for happy hour daily and fell in love with their staff who welcomed us like we were locals. Staying at Ocean's Edge has spoiled me and it is hard to find future accommodations in other countries as my expectations are now really high. Thank you for being great to work with throughout my planning process, Frankie, as she was patient with me while planning this trip as I had plenty of questions from the get go! We can't wait for our return back to Belize and Ocean's Edge! I am still dreaming of Belize..."

  • Perfect paradise!

"We stayed at Habaru house recently for 4 days. The house was beautifully equipped with everything we could possibly want - from blenders to beach towels to kayaks and bicycles! Air conditioning in every room was lovely! We enjoyed meeting the caretakers, Anthony and Gil, who managed to answer any questions and help us about without being intrusive at all. They were really nice gentlemen! Sitting up on the porch in the comfy deck chairs, walking the beach, and enjoying the surf were all great memories. We are a family of 5 with 3 teens and there would have been room for 3 or more people to sleep easily! Lots of space and a well designed great room enabled us to all enjoy the house. I would definitely give this a 5 star rating. You won't be disappointed with anything! Right from the beginning the owner was helpful and provided great tour ideas, a map of Hopkins with favourite (and good) places to eat, and answered all questions very promptly. We felt COMPLETELY safe at the house, as we also did in Hopkins (which is still very much a little Belizian village filled with friendly and helpful locals). Would highly recommend a tour with Happy Go Luckie Tours for fishing/snorkeling. Bottom line, this was a great place for a family to stay and enjoy the beach/water but would also make for an ideal romantic getaway as the beach and area is so quiet and peaceful."

  • wonderful experience and lovely property

"I stayed at Blue Moon Cabana with my two teenage children and loved the property. The inside is charming and well maintained and the terrace, with its two hammocks, was the best for hanging out at night or taking that first look at the ocean in the morning. The beach itself is beautiful with white sand and palm trees. It has a private feel without being isolated and there is a lovely palapa for shade when you need it. Right next door on the beach is a bakery where the owner bakes breads and treats over an open fire. She can tell you each day what she expects to bake the next. And just down the road is a fabulous restaurant called The Melting Pot which we found out about by talking to some of the local kids. Mirko and Annette manage the property and take good care of their guests. If you need them they're there to help and answer questions but if you don't need anything they are very unintrusive. We had our own rental car but booked a snorkeling trip and cave tubing trip through Mirko. We were so happy and impressed with our guides in both cases. They are young but so knowledgeable. During our snorkeling trip we found ourselves completely alone with our guide at 3 different reef sites looking at amazing fish and coral in beautiful clear water. The village of Hopkins itself has a relaxed and friendly feel and the locals are very approachable if you ever have a question. This seemed true throughout Belize as we drove around, sometimes getting lost and needing help. All three of us hope to go back sometime and my kids, especially my 15 year old daughter, aren't always that easy to please!"

  • Perfect

"We arrived 2 days late after surviving Hurricane Earl inland near Belmopan! We arrived to what was our relaxation portion of our trip. We were in Belize a total of two weeks, and could not have chosen a better place to stay. The grounds had been cleaned up, the house was spotless, and we could not have been more pleased. You can walk out in the ocean for quite a bit and still stand up. Waters were a little murky after the hurricane when we arrived but soon cleared up to a crystal clear blue view! The house itself is in perfect condition, with anything and more than what one needs for a beach vacation. Communication with Janette and Maria were great. If we needed anything, they were easy to contact and arrange anything for us. We enjoyed the solitude of the beach the most and put the chairs and hammock to good use. Security patrolling at night was a bonus, although we felt safe at any given time. EVERYONE in Belize was nice and friendly. This was my first trip to a beach in 3 years and could not have chosen a better place. Thanks again to everyone!!!"
