  • Great Family Vacation

"This was our first trip to Belize. Having never been it's a little hard to decide where stay and didn't really know what to expect. We didn't want big crowds so we chose the Placencia penninsula. As a family of 5 we opt for house rentals instead of hotels. It was very easy to book with Ken and I couldn't have been happier with our choice. If you need 5 star resorts, this isn't the place. But if you want clean, affordable, well-equipped, and in a great location, this is perfect! Maya Beach turned out to be ideal because we could walk to the local store and a few restaurants. We had a rental car so it was an easy drive into Placencia and we were able to get to other activities like hiking in Cockscomb and cave tubing/ziplining. The home itself had everything we needed. The beach is kept clean and it was so quiet that we felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves. The porch isn't screened anymore and the kayaks next door are only available for rent and not included. There isn't much to see in the water off the beach but the water was so warm we just didn't mind. We went snorkeling out at Laughing Bird Caye one day. We had a few power outages from storms and the home didn't have any supplies for that but we were able to get a candle from a neighbor. The lightening storms were a show all by themselves! We were very happy with our stay and enjoyed a wonderful week of family time."

  • A Peaceful Oasis

""We" are two couples who shared a cabana suite for nearly a week. The Maine Stay was perfect in every way especially the location. We felt as though we were away from the world but really had easy access to restaurants, town (we did have a car) and all the Belizian adventures one could want. We enjoyed our Monkey River Creole tour (Nite Wind tours) and our Cockscomb adventure with Doyle Gardiner. Although we could have cooked, we opted for dinners out after enjoying watching the sunset over the lagoon. Dawn's in town and the Bistro up the street were two favorites. The Green Parrot serves a delicious breakfast. But after our adventures, we could return to the calm and beauty of The Maine Stay to enjoy that beautiful property -.swimming, kayaking or simply relaxing in the wonderful ocean breezes. We hope to return."

  • Great property in Placencia!

"Miller's landing exactly what we needed for our vacation. It's a little outside the main town so there is more privacy and there are several great restaurants within walking distance. There is a private beach, a pool, and everything else we needed for a relaxing trip. Anne and Gary really went above and beyond what I would expect from hosts, preparing breakfast, providing shuttle / tour information, and even driving some of us to the local airport. I can't recommend staying here highly enough!"

  • Beautiful Ocean Front Villa in Placencia!

"My husband and I stayed in 1C at Los Porticos for our Honeymoon this past summer and couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to visit. The Villa is updated and spacious with unbeatable views of the sea from nearly every angle. Plus with two bedrooms, two and a half baths, open floorplan, and two outdoor balconies there was more than enough room for us and the space can easily accommodate at least two couples or a small family. We loved having access to the private pool right on the beach and also enjoyed the location. Los Porticos is just close enough to the village that we could ride bikes or take a quick cab ride but far enough away that it still felt private. There were also a few restaurants within walking distance which was an added convenience. The staff at Los Porticos were also great and even though we had trouble booking some excursions due to the time of year they did their best to accommodate. We actually ended up getting caught in a tropical storm which unexpectedly extended our vacation and I can’t say enough about how much they went out of their way to ensure we were taken care of. By the end of our stay we were on a first name basis with most of the staff and the place almost felt like a second home. Bottom Line: We loved our experience in Placencia. There is plenty to do, the people are nice, the food is good, the scenery is beautiful, and the Villa is amazing! We definitely have plans to go back and when we do we hope to stay here again!"
