"I have rented through VRBO numerous times and have to say that TIPSY GECKO exceeds 5 stars. This rental is as close as you can get to an all inclusive. Kelley, the owner, was always responsive to questions and was very thoughtful and provided detailed information. She was also available for a call to discuss the rental further. Mabel was there to greet us with a special welcoming drink and flowers. She reviewed all the needed information including how to connect to the FREE wi-fi and FREE voice over IP phone so those needing to call the states would not be charged a fee. Mabel also reviewed how to reach her with a cell phone that was provided for local calls. If you are traveling with teens; encourage them to use an app such as skype to decrease unnecessary phone charges. Mabel also arranged all excursions to ensure our stay was hassle free. Packing light is highly encouraged for Mabel does laundry daily; honestly I wish I had packed a few days of clothes, swimsuits and 1 semi-dressy outfit to venture out for dinner. Also, no need to pack those bulky beach towels for they, too, are provided. Since Domingo and Mickey (nickname he shared) provide three days of cooking (breakfast, lunch and dinner) eating out was minimal; especially since many of the excursions provide lunch. The meals were heavenly and they served the meals as well as did the dishes. We did not rent a car and used the golf cart to get to town for shopping and exploring. Everyone we encountered greeted us with a smile and was very friendly. Unfortunately, our stay ended all too soon and we had to return to reality, doing our own laundry and cooking our own meals. Additional thoughts for consideration. We went during the raining season and this may have made the water off the beach very muddy so we spent the majority of the time in the pool. Also, the mosquitoes were horrific but learned that when we applied sun screen followed by repellent; they tended to leave us alone. Also, the pier tended to be mosquito free as the breeze kept them away. I highly recommend this rental and many thanks to Kelley, Mabel, Javier, Domingo and Mickey for a once in a life-time vacation."

  • Amazing!

"I had the chance to spend some time at the Maine Stay recently and had a very difficult time leaving. The property has three units; the unit we stayed in is two beautiful Mennonite houses with a complete kitchen attached by a deck to one another. Each unit has its own bathroom and the bedroom unit also had a laundry room. The level of detail and care apparent in these places is remarkable as is the attention paid by Karen and her staff - predominantly Hector and Joyce. The bedroom unit has its own coffee maker and fridge so I could enjoy sitting on the deck in the morning with my coffee without waking up my family in the kitchen/bedroom unit. I have stayed in self-catering units before but I have never encountered such a well-appointed kitchen. I love to cook and everything we needed to make a fabulous meal of fresh lobster was there. Oh and fabulous wifi! The grounds themselves are beautiful and the units are positioned so that each unit has more than sufficient privacy I was lazy and read on the beach - beautiful white sand - but if you want more activity there are kayaks, canoes, bikes, board games, books, and more. I'm sure I've missed something. The property is a short drive to Placencia village for those wanting to shop or dine but far enough for to ensure a quiet, peaceful beach. There was always someone around during the day if we needed them and in the evening there is security at the gates - although I never felt like we needed it. Bottom line - I can't recommend this place highly enough. It is the perfect amalgamation of luxury and privacy while allowing you whatever level of self-sufficiency you might want. My husband wasn't able to join us but you can bet I will be bringing him back as soon as I can manage."

  • Belize Navidad!

"Three of us stayed here for Christmas and none of us could stop talking about when we will come back. Francisco, the groundskeeper, was incredibly funny, thoughtful and reliable. The location feels safe and is just far enough from town to be secluded, but close enough to be convenient to walk, bike, or drive a golf cart to. We fished also and went out with Alfred who was spectacular and put us on enough fish to feed us and about a hundred other people."

  • Perhaps the best location in Placencia

"We stayed at Sunset Pointe in Placencia for 6 weeks - and would have loved to stay longer. The location is amazing - right at the southern tip of the peninsula - so you have water all around you. Nice, small beach right in front of the condo on the ocean side, and lagoon access around the other side. Sunsets are amazing from there. It's a 5 minute bike ride into the village: close enough to make it simple to scoot in to the market or for dinner, but far enough that there's no traffic or village noise. The caretaker and family were eager to help out in any way they could. The kitchen was perfectly appointed - we cooked most meals, buying fresh fish and lobster in the village at every opportunity. There's a great breeze through the condo - we only ran the AC in the evenings when the mosquitoes started to fly. We're planning our next trip down right now!"
