  • Five Star Accommodations for a Three Star price!

"What a wonderful experience! I have not a single negative thing to say about the listing and our stay!!! Yes, it does indeed deserve three !!! Great email communication before our arrival. Rene was waiting for us at the airport for pickup. The van (though not new) was large and fit 6 of us and all our luggage (1 large bag for each couple) with room to spare. The house is in Ladyville, close to Belize City but safer. Ladyville is safe to walk around during the day but not at night. House has a fully chained and locked fence for complete safety. The standard transmission van enabled us to travel to Lamanai: the tallest of all the ceremonial Mayan ruins in Belize, near Orange Walk. We also drove out to the zoo (a must do!), cave tubing, rv-ing and zip lining with Butts-up. It is about 45 minutes to the water ferry in Belize City to head out to Caye Caulker, where we went to snorkle and enjoy the laid backness of the island. We even had the opportunity to drive out onto the Hummingbird Highway to go cave spelunking and cave tubing (very different from Butts-up) at the Blue Hole National Park. Rene is on call at all times and took care of an unexpected flat tire without delay. Make sure to read all the reviews as they are all helpful with your stay."

"WE enjoyed our stay. Yvette and Angie were wonderful. The view was fantastic and the location was great easy walk to nice restaurants . Only problem was there was no wireless access while we were there so it was hard to communicate or look things up."

  • Paradise found and then some!

"Gail and Paul have certainly created a paradise in Placencia. We traveled with another couple and had a wonderful time exploring the village, cooking delicious meals in the villa’s well-stocked and modern kitchen, and relaxing by the pool and palapa’s (yes, there’s more than one!). After spending the first part of our trip sailing around the Caye’s, the villa was a great place to unwind in comfort. Gail and Paul are incredibly helpful and kind – you couldn’t find friendlier people in Belize. Paul gave us the lay of the land – the good markets, restaurants, and shops to stop-in. And Gail arranged everything from dinner reservations to a car rental for us. We feel lucky to have experienced Starfish Villa and can’t wait to come back and visit again!"

  • Beautiful Place and Secluded Getaway - Look No Further!

"Ocean's Edge had a magical pull for both my boyfriend and I. We were looking for a private getaway, without being in a hotel chain, where we were able to call our retreat our "home away from home" and it was just that. When we arrived, we were the only guests and had the private beach to ourselves for a few days prior to our neighbor checking into their house (two houses share the beach) and surprise, it was Virginia - a guest who has stayed at these houses a few times and we couldn't have lucked out with a better neighbor! Although we had a neighbor, we still felt like it was our very own private special place and it was great to also have the resources of someone who had been here before and knew the lay of the land! Every morning, my boyfriend and I found ourselves waking up right before sunrise to witness some of the most beautiful sunrises from the cozy chairs or hammocks under the pilapa, before finding ourselves slowly getting ready to do anything or nothing at all. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and we enjoyed the fresh coconuts, figuring out how to husk them and then cook with them as well. We did utilize the bicycles as well as the kayaks during our stay and would advise guests to do so as well. If you are staying here, and are looking to go into town (Placencia) at all, either rent a car or just learn the bus schedule. The bus schedule is super easy to learn and is super cheap ($2 one way into Placencia, the stop is across the street from the houses) but please bear in mind that the last trip going back to Maya Beach leaves Placencia at 2:30pm. Ocean's Edge Beach Houses is literally one dock away from the best restaurant, Maya Beach Bistro, that we ate at and we felt like we lived there for happy hour daily and fell in love with their staff who welcomed us like we were locals. Staying at Ocean's Edge has spoiled me and it is hard to find future accommodations in other countries as my expectations are now really high. Thank you for being great to work with throughout my planning process, Frankie, as she was patient with me while planning this trip as I had plenty of questions from the get go! We can't wait for our return back to Belize and Ocean's Edge! I am still dreaming of Belize..."
