  • Everything And Then Some

"My wife and I have visited multiple islands, and have rented multiple homes, throughout the Caribbean for 13 years. It has always been our goal to choose a new island, have a new experience, and visit a new home, each year. However, after spending a week at Hummingbird House, it is hard for us not to rebook this lovely home for our next Caribbean holiday. When we arrived and found the fridge to be stocked with everything we need to enjoy our first day on Nevis, we realized that Richard takes hosting his lovely home to another level. The picture postcard view you see herein from the pool of Hummingbird House (looking at St. Kitts) is exactly that...a picture postcard. The home's screened in porch is perfect for enjoying as many hours in nature as you like. Pool temperature was right on...poolside furniture was very comfortable...bedrooms were comfortable and quiet...and the kitchen was well appointed with any dishes or appliances you could want. Starting the day on the back porch (also screened in) in the company of hummingbirds and monkeys set the tone for many lovely days on Nevis. Some personal travel tips: 1) the manager of the Turtle Time restaurant can hook you up with a local fisherman (a gentleman from South Africa) who will sell you fresh wahoo and mahi mahi (perfect for grilling on Hummingbird House's fabulous gas grill) ; 2) to experience the wonderful hospitality offered to visitors of Nevis, go to the Water Dept. BBQ on Friday night (a short distance from the Ram's Supermarket in Charlestown). Even better, buy the chef's a beer...you will make new friends instantly; 3) a lunch and a hike around the beautiful gardens of Golden Rock Plantation will be another highlight of your trip to Nevis. 4) A day trip to Nisbet Plantation will be time well spent (home of the best rum punch, IMHO, on Nevis). Having had these wonderful experiences, we now understand why Richard owns this home on this island. Do yourself a favor and book a week at Hummingbird House...just don't take my week for next year! :-)"

  • Perhaps the best location in Placencia

"We stayed at Sunset Pointe in Placencia for 6 weeks - and would have loved to stay longer. The location is amazing - right at the southern tip of the peninsula - so you have water all around you. Nice, small beach right in front of the condo on the ocean side, and lagoon access around the other side. Sunsets are amazing from there. It's a 5 minute bike ride into the village: close enough to make it simple to scoot in to the market or for dinner, but far enough that there's no traffic or village noise. The caretaker and family were eager to help out in any way they could. The kitchen was perfectly appointed - we cooked most meals, buying fresh fish and lobster in the village at every opportunity. There's a great breeze through the condo - we only ran the AC in the evenings when the mosquitoes started to fly. We're planning our next trip down right now!"

  • Wonderful Vacation Stay!!

"This condo was a wonderful place to stay for a week on Maho!! The condo had everything that you would ever need. Most of our time spent was outside on the awesome deck!! There were 5 people in our group and we had all the room we could dream of outside and inside the condo. Thanks again Brian for letting us rent your condo for the week. I'm sure we will be back again for another visit!!"

  • Great experience and amazing views

"This was our first trip to St. John and friends that had been before insisted we spend the week there rather than St. Thomas, they were right! With around 4,000 people on St. John (vs 55,000 on St. Thomas) we made the right call to enjoy our vacation there! It is extremely laid back and relaxing with great people! Cruz bay at night is a must! The arrival and greeting was great! We were meet at the ferry and taken to St. John Rentals. After this we were guided to the house and after one trip it was easy to find on our own and took only about 15 minutes to arrive there from Cruz Bay. Michael went above in making us feel welcome, he even helped me in handling a flat tire issue so it was quickly resolved! We only had a few questions as Michael provided great detail with documents and answered many questions via email before our arrival. The property is very well kept and the amenities are great. Our view was simply fantastic, the pictures of the property cannot do it justice! We overlooked Fish bay and had a huge range of view such that we could see much of that side of the island. At night you could leave the doors open and use the screens provided to hear the waves and enjoy the night air without seeing all the city lights as those are all hidden. We always had a great amount of privacy at the house and had everything we could think of included in the rental. Air conditioning was included, many places do not have this. The pool was well kept with a great view of the bay. A very comfortable huge king size bed was also provided. The refrigerator (with freezer for ice) was a perfect size to hold cold drinks and food for breakfast/lunch. The bathroom was huge and the shower has a great view of the bay. Towels, beach chairs and two coolers are provided also which were a great help in our daily travels. You will not need an umbrella as the beaches almost all have natural shade from trees. Overall the unit is amazing and once you stay there I believe you will also agree. After being on the island for 7 days and and seeing many of the other units we looked at up close I can see we made a great decision to stay with Michael. If we would have chosen one of the other locations I feel we would have been let down and not enjoyed our stay as much. After staying here it is easy to see why he has so many return guests. If you visit St. John you owe it to yourself to have a great place and an amazing view, this is it!"
