  • Cayman Brac at its Best!

"My brother and sisters and I have been vacationing on Cayman Brac for over 30 years. Tropical Runway was the perfect spot for our family gathering, and we give it our highest recommendation as a fantastic place to enjoy your island stay. We stayed in the “Loggerhead House” and the accommodations were the best we have experienced on the island – complete with a newly renovated full kitchen, comfortable living room area, large bedrooms, beachfront access, solar powered AC, purified water, wi-fi, and a grocery store just a short bike ride away. The house had every amenity we could wish for and we made good use of the kayaks, snorkeling equipment and bike. The grounds are beautifully maintained with an eye toward sustainability and natural flora/fauna. The private sandy beach was a favorite of ours, as were the views of the aqua water from the master bedroom and villa balconies, the pristine rainwater-filled swimming pool, the conch shell lined paths, the coconut palms, hammocks, and a hen house nestled in the forest. Tropical Runway owners Ray and Karen were gracious hosts who shared with us their local knowledge (e.g., where to buy the best fish) and brought us freshly laid eggs daily. We all agreed that we enjoyed our time at Tropical Runaway more than even the pictures had led us to believe we would, and we have already made plans to return soon!"

  • Quiet little place for two

"Minnie was amazing, and so is her little cottage. We stayed for 6 days on our honeymoon and could not have dreamed of more privacy. The nature! The size of the beach! The lounging options! Minnie has her beach set up for the relaxation of your choice. Hammocks! Lounge chairs, And a giant round rattan thing that became my personal favorite. The island is full of great adventure and great people. So welcoming, friendly! We found everything we needed. Most days we were hiking and caving and discovering new water holes and beaches. But nothing beat the mid afternoon nap in the cabana on the beach in the shade and the breeze..... The water was a bit rough when we were there, so getting into the water at the property wasn't easy. We had a couple of run ins with the sea urchins even with our water shoes. They are plentiful but easy to spot and easy to avoid in calmer waters. But we found other places on the island for water time, too. And no where on the island is far from you. The private hot tub on the deck was perfect at night, watching the stars. The small cottage has sooo much space and is fully stocked! I loved the two floor layout with the bedroom taking up the second floor. It is large, open, with vaulted ceiling, ceiling fan, and lots of windows! The bedroom cooled down quickly at night. We felt instantly at home and enjoyed our time. The property is gorgeous. We commented after touring the island how Feathertone was not only the prettiest we've seen, but one of the largest most private ocean fronts, and so well maintained. Cayman Brac is very much an adventurer's island. We are not much into diving or snorkeling. But we had a great time! Plenty to do, see, enjoy. Thank you, Minnie, for opening your property up to us!"

  • A True Island Gem

"WOW! There are just no words to describe this place. This home is perfectly located, beautifully decorated and fully equipped with all the comforts of home. The best snorkeling is right outside your back door. Just don't forget your water shoes! The swimming pool is the perfect place to unwind with a daiquiri or a nice glass of wine. There are 3 liquor stores on the island-Miss Mary Lou's, Big Daddy's and Island Man Rum Shop. Pretty sure we hit them all. There are also 3 main grocery stores-Market Place, Kirkconnell's and Billy's. Don't be surprised if you have to stop at all 3 to get everything on your list. But hey, that's the fun part! If you're looking for a good Ribeye to throw on that super cool outdoor grill though, you can pretty much forget it. May want to consider packing a cooler of meat, which can be checked as luggage but must be packed frozen and in its original packaging. On the days you don't feel like cooking there are a few restaurants worth mentioning. Brac Reef Resort is home to The Palm (Friday nights are BBQ night) and The Tipsy Turtle (great bar menu). Eats & Treats (burgers and ice cream) and PoPo Jeb's (pizza) both deliver. Star Island is a great breakfast choice. If you need cash there is one bank on the island. The 24 hour ATM gives you a choice of US$ or CI$. When you're out and about be sure to check out the caves (don't forget your flashlights)! Peter's cave is spectacular and filled with a rich and interesting history. Rebecca's cave was also one of our faves. If you're wanting to feel the sand between your toes, the one and only Public Beach is the perfect spot for that. Tons of hermit crabs there too! The Lighthouse is the gateway to the most breathtaking views you'll ever see. Take your camera! Derwin was also amazing. He was very attentive and made himself readily available to answer any questions we had. On our second to last day, we took a boat ride with Derwin to Point of Sand on Little Cayman. We spent the entire day snorkeling, fishing and picnicking. It was hands down our favorite and most memorable part of the trip. Thank you Derwin! Before you leave the island, if it's the last thing you do, take a trip to NIM Things. There you'll be met by Tenson Scott, the owner and maker of the most interesting and unique necklaces. Just give yourself at least an hour as he's quite the story teller! Thank you, Cha-che, for all tips prior to our trip, the use of your car, and the sharing your beautiful home!"

  • Secluded Island Getaway

"Paul & Maggie have a gem of an oceanfront getaway here! We spent three lovely weeks, and had complete privacy - not a single person came by in our time here. The house is complete with everything you need, from cooking to cleaning to hanging out on the beach. The ocean was too rough during most of our stay to swim in front of the house, but it wasn't an issue as you only have to run over to the other side of the island for snorkeling and diving heaven. The main house a/c was down for parts during our stay, but the bedroom a/c was able to keep the house comfortable and the humidity down during our stay. The back porch is incredible, and we spent most of our time hanging there in one of the two hammocks that were large enough to accommodate my 6/4 270# frame! We brought frozen meat and wine in with us for the trip, and the grocery stores kept us fully stocked on everything else we needed. We loved the island enough that we are considering it for our retirement location. Don't come here if you're looking for fast night life with huge parties - the sidewalks are rolled up by 7 pm! But that's just the right time for stargazing - the night skies are amazing. And the diving lives up to the Cayman's expectation - it is simply the best place in the world! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and again . . .and again . . . and again!"
