  • Wonderful Location! Very Private, lots of little fish along the rocks at the shore.

"We loved the fact that you are on a wonderful soft sand beach the moment you step foot outside. Comfortable home, comfortable beds. We had no issues with the house, and found the manager very friendly and welcoming. Called once to inquire about renting kayaks, quick response. I would be willing to pay a bit more a night if they ever included kayaks as rental is fairly expensive. However, being right at the entrance of the bioluminescence bay, you have the best of both worlds at your back door. The waters are calm, very inviting. We did discover that swimming through shallow grassy areas may not be the best idea...."sea lice." Microscopic ? jelly fish. Most of us were stung a little, but it was very minor and went away within the day. In the future, easy to avoid. (I just got caught up seeing the fish.) My husband had the time of his life enjoying the sunset, a drink, his music (we bright an iPone speaker) and grilling (they have a small charcoal grill.) We cooked our on meals and the kitchen had all our basic needs. You may want to bring baggies for food storage. (Not many plastic containers.) For first time guests, I advise renting a car large enough for your luggage and groceries. Once you land, get your groceries first, in town. (The drive is about 40-50 minutes from the airport. This will save you time. If you plan to grill, be sure to buy charcoal and lighter fluid. There are nice places to eat close, but it's not cheap. Cooking saves money. It's a great family vacation. We will definitely be back! One more thought, keep in mind that the grocery stores are closed on Sundays."

  • Great property with a beautiful view

"We had 2 couples in our group staying for 8 days. The house was better than we expected. We had plenty of room, the furniture was comfortable, the temperature inside the house was cool, everything was in perfect working order and we had everything we needed in the house. It was also clean and there were no bugs. The view was amazing and the water lights up at night if you get in it and splash around as the house is right on the bio bay but beware of the sea lice (tiny jellyfish). They seemed to be mainly around the dock. We had Rosie come and cook for us at the house which was delicious (there is a magnet on the fridge with her number). The kitchen knives could have been sharper but we only used them on occasion. We enjoyed going to Rum Point, and to Kaibo. Both restaurants are great. They auto-grat everywhere so be aware. We also went over to Tukka's on the East side which was a great restaurant and there seemed to be more breeze on that side. We did the sting ray city tour from Rum Point, Starfish Point which is right down the road and the Crystal Caves but make sure you wear bug spray and take some water. It was very hot and humid in the caves."

  • Great House, Great Location

"We loved Thatch Hill. The location met all of our requirements – privacy, quiet and convenience. The house is a standalone house with a swimming pool, right on the ocean with a small sandy beach and walk in access to good snorkeling. It's a charming 2 bedroom, 2 bath beach cottage with porches all around the house. The front and side porch is open (sunset views through the trees) and the large screened in porch in the back (dining for 6, lounge chairs for 2) faces the pool and beach. The pool deck had lounge chairs for 4 and the beach had 2 or 3 lounge chairs. There are several good restaurants nearby. Rum Point, with its 2 restaurants is within walking distance (less than a mile), Kaibo, with its 2 restaurants is a long walk or 5 minute drive away and several other good places to eat are within a 20 to 30 minute drive. We were two adult couples for the first week and then just DH and me for the second. The bedrooms, each with a full bath, were separated by the large kitchen/dining/living room. There was privacy; however, the doors were louvered (great for airflow) so some sound from the shared space carried into the bedrooms. Those of us who slept in could hear breakfast being prepared but since most of the time everyone was out on the screened in porch this was not a problem. In addition to a sliding door to the porch from the living room each bedroom also had a porch door. The house was clean, comfortable and fully stocked with everything you would need to prepare meals and we had breakfast at the house everyday and at most one other meal out each day. We are seriously considering renting it again next year even though we have a "rule" against repeats."
