  • great find

"My family rented units 10 and 11 in March. As for the unit, the condo was immaculate and had everything we needed. We stocked up at the local Foster's, which had most of the American brands we are used to, as soon as we arrived. It was great to be able to eat breakfast in and make a lunch to eat out on the beach. The washer/dryer was put to good use and allowed us to pack extremely light. The view from the lanai is gorgeous. As for the complex, it's on the quieter end of 7-mile beach. We enjoyed watching the cruise ships coming and going without ever seeing the crowds. The beach is beautiful and so relaxing. On a calm day, the water is as clear as a swimming pool. We enjoyed some great snorkeling right in front of the condos. The grounds are immaculate. Being that I can't stand dragging sand inside, really appreciated the foot baths outside every door, as well as the constant sweeping/hosing down of the sidewalks and pool area. We didn't find that restaurants were within walking distance, but there are many cab companies and they arrive within minutes of calling them. As for Grand Cayman itself, it's a beautiful, clean island. The natives are all friendly and gracious; they truly seem to want tourists. Also, they don't seem to participate in "island time" as we've experienced elsewhere in the Caribbean. Restaurant service is prompt, taxis are prompt, we had airport transfers that were all early, etc. Would love to go back when time and budget allow!"

  • Wonderful Getaway

"My wife and I were able to spend a lovely 4 day getaway without kids at Kaibo Yacht Club. What a great escape. The condo is very well equipped and beautifully located right next to the water and overlooking the pool. The view from the screened deck looks like a postcard. My wife, who sunburns very easily was able to enjoy laying out on the community beach chaise lounges under the shade of very mature palm trees. The stress of the city immediately melted away. Enjoyed meals and drinks at Kaibo restaurant. Had great meal at the Monday BBQ at Rum Point. We explored the North and East side of the island (found some fantastic deserted beaches) and loved the feel of the East side. We toured the Queens Botanical Gardens and ate at the recommended Kurts Korner (my wife said it was the best grilled vegetables she's ever had). Mark was very good at getting back to us quickly with any questions. Everything was ready for us, I couldn't have asked for anything more. Community has many locals who were very friendly, you don't feel as if you are in a tourist trap area. We look forward to coming back and this time we might even bring the kids. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer."

  • Paradise

"The Space- First, Minnie's property is amazing. We had the privilege of staying at both the cottage and the apartment. Minnie was gracious enough to help with our Thursday-Thursday stay which required staying on one space for a few nights then moving to the other. If you are honeymooning I suggest the cottage otherwise personally I prefer the apartment where we stayed for the majority of our vacation. The apartment has an amazing view of the ocean and beach. Minnie's description is on point and the space IS comfortable - pillow-top mattresses, great pillows, etc. Plenty of spaces on the beach for chilling including hammocks and shelters. The property is beautiful and well maintained. It has the perfect blend of vegetation and open space. We spent a lot of time everyday in the water in front of the property. The beach at Minnie's is interesting in that it does not enter into the water this is normal on this side of the island. The only place you will find a "traditional" sandy beaches will be by the resorts. DO NOT let this deter you! Minnie has a small dock that takes you out past the iron-shore so you can either swim or snorkel. Snorkeling in front of her house is great. This place is truly wonderful and our family had an amazing time hiking the shoreline, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and just relaxing. Snorkeling- The island is literally a reef that came out of the ocean. Almost all of the island has what is called iron shore. Very few property owners have cleaned up the shore like Minnie has - she has the true diamond on this small island that she painstakingly carved out. We are snorkelers and used 2mm booties (I would actually get thicker booties to get through the iron shore around the island) and open heel fins to take full advantage of the snorkeling around the island - the only place you don't need this setup is by the public beach. If you have a young snorkeler I recommend the following shore dives/snorkeling locations - Handcuff Reef, Sylvia's Reef, Radar Reef, Scott's Dock, Buccaneer. They each have ladders into the water and are very easy to navigate. Be sure to bring your inflatable snorkel vest for visibility and safety. Other- There's not a lot of great eating locations on this island. There are a few gems- Barry's Jerk, Pat's Kitchen, and Captains Table (for lunch). I highly recommend buying fresh fish from a guy on the West Cross Road he has a large pink sign - "fresh fish for sale." $4CI/pound."

  • Rum Point Retreat

"Our family of four from Boston ( two adults & two teens) arrived at the condo for some relaxation after spending a fun but hectic week on seven mile beach. The condo was perfect, lots of space and well equipped. The view of the beach from the screened in porch was lovely. It was great being right next door to the public Rum Point beach with snack bar, restaurant, shop, and watersports, but still having our own private, quiet beach to ourselves. It was like being in a resort but with our own space, and much better value. To be so close to the beach, with so many amenities, and still feel secluded is very rare. We enjoyed snorkeling from the beach (saw Sting Rays, Lion fish, Barracuda, Cuttlefish and many more) trip to Sting Ray City with Red Sail Sports (go late in the day when no cruise ships are in), sunset at Starfish Point, and the nearby caves tour (fantastic stalactites and stalagmites). Eating out options are fairly limited if you don't want to drive so stock up on groceries before coming. There is a small supermarket about 10 minutes away for basics). This is the perfect location to rest and unwind after spending time on the other side of the island. Thanks for a great stay."
