  • Gorgeous, relaxing and rejuvenating!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Cayman Coast Escape. We love the tranquility of sitting on the screen porch with a cup of coffee or a cold beverage looking out over the ocean listening to the waves. From most of the rooms in the house there is a wonderful ocean view. This was our second stay at Cayman Coast Escape and our third to the island. We are scuba divers and take a trip or two each year with a few other diver friends. Several years ago our little group stayed and dove at Sunset House on Seven Mile beach which was fine but in no way compares to our two separate weeks at Cayman Coast Escape. November 2015 was our first stay and we dove with Cayman Marine Labs which was a fun experience. We found that eating out was very expensive. However there are several great restaurants both casual and fine dining within a few minutes of the house. For our most recent visit, November 2016, we chose to grocery shop at Fosters and take advantage of the homes very well equipped kitchen, new grill and lovely dining room. This visit we spent most of our time around the pool reading and laughing with our friends. It was a wonderfully rejuvenating week. The home is spotless and well maintained. On Wednesday the sheets got changed and the house got cleaned. Michael the owner and Barbara the property manager are super accessible and a pleasure with which to communicate. The great thing about Cayman Coast Escape is that its so quiet and tranquil yet restaurants, bars, shopping, and groceries are just a few minutes away and you're surrounded by quality shore and boat diving. We are already planning to return."

  • Villa la playa

"We rented this house on a family vacation, there were nine of us, including one baby. The house was well appointed , spacious, and offered plenty of space for group activities and plenty of spots for private time. The pool was great and gazebo and porch offered shelter from the sun while you were outside. The guys had a great time fishing off the dock. The bay was perfect for the bioluminescence show if you went kyaking or swimming at night, and the beach area was calm enough for the bay to play in the waves. The only complaint I had was that when it rained the front and back porch became dangerously slippery tile when wet, two of us slipped and fell and got banged up pretty good. Other then that it was an amazing property and helped us have another amazing trip to grand cayman. As usual cayman villas was great and easy to work with, and empty suitcases was fabulous to rent the baby equipment we needed."

  • The Perfect Spot

"We just got back yesterday from our first trip to Grand Cayman and I can't imagine staying anywhere else if we go back. The condo is clean and nicely furnished, but the location is perfect. The first-level walk-out patio right on the beach is an outstanding feature. The condo and patio are very private being on the corner of the property and you are literally steps from the ocean and the beach, which also feels very private and does not get a lot of walking traffic, which is a plus for us (some people like all of the hustle bustle of being on a crowded beach, but we do not). We loved the lagoon on the beach – it was like having a private pool in the ocean and it's great for kids and floating around and, again, offers a lot of privacy. The beach itself is nice and big so you can play on the sand and run around and there is lots of room (other places have barely any sandy beach areas). We have teenagers and they loved the beach, the pool, the swim up bar for smoothies, the hot tub, etc. The snorkeling just off the beach outside of the lagoon is very good especially when it's calmer out in the morning and at dusk. We saw a turtle many times and all kinds of fish and schools of fish -- be sure to snorkel out to the buoy where the reef ends (but not past it to avoid water craft that might be going by!). The pool was not too crowded and there were always chairs available at the beach or the pool, which is nice. The whole place is laid back and unpretentious, which we like. Everyone we met was down-to-earth and friendly. It's a great location in terms of near the grocery store, liquor store, dive shops, etc. We rented a car because we wanted flexibility to roam the island and visit other beaches, and loved how centrally located we were to pretty much everything -- but this is a good location if you don't have or want to rent a car. The owner is very responsive and available and answered all of my questions before we got down there and was responsive while we were there, too. You will love it if you go!"

  • Perfect for one or two in an ideal location.

"There is little we can add to earlier reviews as we concur with all of the positive comments. Yes, Ocean Retreat is exactly as described and as it appears in the photos including the accurate description of the top quality mattress, linens and towels. We spent a most comfortable five weeks in this lovely cottage. The movement of the sun dictated ours: bench swing on the porch until 2:30-ish, then again after nightfall; lounge chairs on the sea-facing patio, 5:00-ish, watching the waves, Brown Boobies, Man-o-War (Frigates) and White-tailed Tropic birds. We were very pleased with the bbq grill which worked well. Beach chairs were easy to carry for walking to the Public Beach and though we didn't use it, a beach mat is available as is a small cooler that's a perfect size for packing a picnic (or bringing back some of Barry's Golden Jerk Chicken). The public beach is a good entry point for a shore dive but is not what we think of as a swimming beach. When we did go in to get wet we gave the small southern ray the right of way. Even if not planning to snorkel it might be good to take a mask to see what you are going in over - and do the stingray shuffle! Going beyond others' comments about the kitchen, with which we agree, we very much appreciated the availability of potable water, the Rubbermaid containers and, unusual in a rental, the good kitchen and door mats. The former for comfort while preparing meals, doing dishes, the latter for keeping most of the fine gravel outside. Great attention to detail on the part of the owners! Shawn was in touch personally during our stay making sure everything was okay. Both she and the property manager, Patty, were prompt in dealing with any concerns. The location is excellent; walk to the beach, Rebecca's Cave and beyond; cycle (or drive) to grocery stores, to the southwest tip for bird watching and Little Cayman gazing, to the Bat Cave. (BTW drivers are very courteous to cyclists.) Even indoors there is sight and sound of the sea through the glass and screened patio door. Having previously stayed on the North Shore we found the South Shore much quieter in terms of traffic. Until the bushes grow up you may be aware of people in the neighbouring property enjoying their shore-side swimming pool: happy noise. What more could you want? We certainly recommend Ocean Retreat as an excellent choice for visitors to Cayman Brac."
