  • Rum Point Retreat #31

"My husband, 15 year old son, mother and I stayed here for a week at the end of May. There is no more perfect location, in our opinion, on the island. The condo was very clean and well stocked. The owner was very easy to work with. She responded quickly to any questions both before and during the trip. Condo is on the ground floor, only steps to the beach. It is next door the Rum Point, very convienient for lunch, dinner, drinks, and to book excursions. Even though it is next to Rum Point it is well isolated by a row of hedges. There's a grass yard as you walk out the back door of the screened in porch. My son enjoyed going out early in the morning to take pictures of the land and hermit crabs. The beach is very nice with lots of lounge chairs available. Most importantly to us is the ocean. The water is beautiful, both above and below it. We've snorkeled quite a few places and this is definitely a favorite. We walked west to a public beach, got in and snorkeled back to the condo. We saw lots of things during these snorkels. We saw a spotted eagle ray, a nurse shark, and cuttlefish, just to name a few. We all agree this was one of our favorite trips and we can't wait to go back to #31!"

  • All we wanted and more...

"We arrived at the Cottage on April 24 for our honeymoon. We had issues with the flight which made us arrive later than expected but we had no issues finding or getting into the cottage. Nadine came over and met us as we arrived. She had put beautiful flower petals around the cottage and left us a bottle of champagne and a welcome note. We were so very pleased with this place. The cottage was very clean and cozy. It had everything we needed. You truly are a few steps from the beach and the view is amazing. If you are wanting to go be around a ton of people and party all night...this is NOT the place for you. We saw maybe 5 other people on the beach the entire 6 days we were there and they were people that had walked from a resort down the road. Our desire was to go somewhere we could relax and chill as much as possible and this place did not disappoint. There was construction being done to the big house. Nadine apologized for the noise but we honestly never heard it. Speaking of Nadine - She is WONDERFUL!!! We felt like we left there knowing a new friend. She even sent us home with an amazing wood carved fish that we will forever cherish. We recommend this place to anyone traveling to Grand Cayman. If we ever go back we know exactly where we will be staying. :-)"

  • Fantastic Stay

"I have to give this place the great review it deserves, at risk of increasing its popularity and not having it available the next time I go to the Caymans. I would absolutely rent this condo again without looking at any others. The location was terrific - directly on 7 mile beach. The view from the spacious balcony was great, I would watch the cruise ships amble into port every morning and the dive boats heading out to the wreck during the day. The beach was right outside the door and the pool was right on the beach. Beach chairs and towels were supplied daily at no charge and it was never crowded. Driving everywhere was easy and there were grocery stores and liquor stores close by. We often ate in as the kitchen was well stocked and how could we miss the great sunset from the balcony. The owner was very responsive and the staff at the complex simply could not have been nicer - really hospitable and willing to help arrange any request. The best!"

  • Paradise

"The Space- First, Minnie's property is amazing. We had the privilege of staying at both the cottage and the apartment. Minnie was gracious enough to help with our Thursday-Thursday stay which required staying on one space for a few nights then moving to the other. If you are honeymooning I suggest the cottage otherwise personally I prefer the apartment where we stayed for the majority of our vacation. The apartment has an amazing view of the ocean and beach. Minnie's description is on point and the space IS comfortable - pillow-top mattresses, great pillows, etc. Plenty of spaces on the beach for chilling including hammocks and shelters. The property is beautiful and well maintained. It has the perfect blend of vegetation and open space. We spent a lot of time everyday in the water in front of the property. The beach at Minnie's is interesting in that it does not enter into the water this is normal on this side of the island. The only place you will find a "traditional" sandy beaches will be by the resorts. DO NOT let this deter you! Minnie has a small dock that takes you out past the iron-shore so you can either swim or snorkel. Snorkeling in front of her house is great. This place is truly wonderful and our family had an amazing time hiking the shoreline, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and just relaxing. Snorkeling- The island is literally a reef that came out of the ocean. Almost all of the island has what is called iron shore. Very few property owners have cleaned up the shore like Minnie has - she has the true diamond on this small island that she painstakingly carved out. We are snorkelers and used 2mm booties (I would actually get thicker booties to get through the iron shore around the island) and open heel fins to take full advantage of the snorkeling around the island - the only place you don't need this setup is by the public beach. If you have a young snorkeler I recommend the following shore dives/snorkeling locations - Handcuff Reef, Sylvia's Reef, Radar Reef, Scott's Dock, Buccaneer. They each have ladders into the water and are very easy to navigate. Be sure to bring your inflatable snorkel vest for visibility and safety. Other- There's not a lot of great eating locations on this island. There are a few gems- Barry's Jerk, Pat's Kitchen, and Captains Table (for lunch). I highly recommend buying fresh fish from a guy on the West Cross Road he has a large pink sign - "fresh fish for sale." $4CI/pound."
