  • Wonderful place to stay

"Our first time to Cayman and with a bit of research concluded we did not want to stay at a mega hotel, in order to avoid the crowds and the cost. North of 7 mile beach is ideal - 5 minutes from many good restaurants and yet away from the traffic/noise/hassle. Discovery Point is all that - quiet beach, reasonable snorkeling from the beach, nice pool/hot tub (the latter quite useful after SCUBA), and few people - all well behaved btw. At only 3 floors, I doubt it will ever be too busy compared to the other complexes. #15 is a very nice condo. Recently updated appliances, furniture and bedding all in good shape, big TV with all the US channels. Wifi too and very clean with friendly maid service - I'm not sure what else you can ask for. This particular unit is an end unit - and that matters - it has extra windows on the side for light and quieter too (apart from the bizarrely loud black birds). For the price, I just don't think you can beat it. Definite do-again."

  • Perfect for snorkelling or relaxing

"I'm so happy I stayed here. I'm a hardcore snorkeler and the best snorkelling was just steps from the condo, which had everything you could possibly need, and the Captain's Table Restaurant right next door was fantastic. Bonnie and Gene are wonderful hosts, and when I needed to go to the emergency room for a surprise problem but didn't have a rental car, they most graciously took me. The unit was so comfortable and even in July it was pleasant to sit out on the balcony patio. The airport, shops, other restaurants and other snorkel spots are only minutes away. Next time, I will rent a car and check out other snorkel spots. (There are also bikes for rent but I didn't get a chance to try them since I was unexpectedly sick.) Brac Scuba Shack has a boat that is docked right by the condo, and it is super easy to book a snorkel seat with them when available and explore offshore sites."

  • Outstanding diving and great villa for 8 adults and one two year old.

"Thanks for a wonderful stay on Cayman Calypso. It worked beautifully for our adult family of 8 and one two year old. After spending a wonderful week on Little Cayman with nothing to get around but bicycles, I was not sure that I would be happy on the larger and more crowded Grand Cayman. But East End was just great and unlike on Little Cayman, the car was essential. The diving was extraordinary off of East End with magnificent underwater topography, canyons, swim-throughs, tunnels, etc. Ocean Frontiers was a terrific dive operation and we enjoyed the Botanical Gardens and walking the Mastik trail. We spent a day going to the West End to dive the Kittiwake, and although the dive was great, we were quick to return to the the East end for lunch going to Compass Point for lion fish tacos. Seven Mile Beach is not our cup of tea. We preferred long walks on the beach starting at the public beach just up the road and towards Morrits Resort. As divers with Ocean Frontiers we had access to kayaks and used them quite a bit. Since it was lobster season and our son was experienced at catching them, we were regularly supplied with lobster caught at the reef close to the villa. The villa was well equipped and the property manager was very responsive with our few initial requests, including a replacement for the third floor studio fold-out bed mattress which was not useable. He supplied us with an inflatable mattress that we used on the floor and when that did not work because of pump problems he supplied a regular mattress. We ate in most of the time and did a lot of cooking. The kitchen layout was great for a group of people cooking together. The one downside in the kitchen for us was that we would have preferred a full oven with broiler rather than combo micro-wave convection oven. We used the charcoal BBQ quite a bit. We loved the cascading pools and spent a lot of time in and around them. Rarely was anyone else in the pools. We also loved the colour scheme of the villa complex and the villa itself. The master bedroom is really quite wonderful and a great retreat on its own. The layout works well for a big group even though the first floor kitchen, living dining room area is not that big."

  • Beautiful, quiet spot on 7 Mile Beach!

"It was our first trip to Grand Carman but it will not be our last. I research spots well ahead of every vacation on VRBO, Trip advisor, etc. I chose Discovery Point based on everything I read and we were not sorry at all. The beach is gorgeous and not too busy. We had no problem getting three lounges together every single day. There are many huts for shade and palm trees too. The beach itself is well kept and yes, you can snorkel just off shore. The snorkeling is very fun. I'm not sure why some reviewers complained about the rocky shoreline. Grand Cayman is surrounded by reefs, of course it isn't all sand! That being said, it was very easy to find a spot to enter the water that was sandy and jump in and float so you didn't ever need to step on rocks at all. We didn't need water shoes of any sort to accomplish it. The snorkeling just off shore was great, the pool area clean and hot tub lovely. We found check in and out extremely easy, the daily (except Sunday) maid service was wonderful and the condo was the most stocked place that we have ever stayed and we regularly rent throughout the Caribbean and the US. There were items provided for us that we usually have to buy for ourselves like paper towels, Kleenex, soap, dish detergent and even detergent for the clothes washer. We did get a confirmation number upon booking and thought everyone in the office and throughout the club were very friendly and helpful during our stay. We would definitely return to this unit and Discovery Point Club, we can see why they have so many repeat visitors!"
