  • My new favorite place in the DR

"I recently spent three nights in this charming villa, it is secluded and private and extremely clean and comfortable. The property managers Ramon and his wife Eugenia go far out of there way to ensure that your every wish is looked after and I mean everything, they are quite remarkable people. The rooms are very comfortable and air conditioned. The American owners are extremely easy to work with while booking and again I can not stress how beautiful and immaculately kept this property is. I cant wait to get back in January to stay here and see Ramon and Eugenia again. This truly is a hidden Caribbean gem on the North Coast of the DR and is only 40 mins to Samana airport. My first visit here was exceptional. David Thomson Toronto, Canada"

  • Beauty, Culture, and Relaxing...undeniably an amazing place to experience the true DR

"My first experience with the Sea Dog was through its owner Chester. He's was extremely accommodating and was fast to reply to our families many questions! He also provided a ton of information about the area and its culture. After the trip, he followed up to ensure we enjoyed our stay, as well as, called the house manger (Julia) to check on us! The house is amazing. Very comfortable for the 10 adults we had and the view was to die for, absolutely phenomenal! The casita is exceptional. Waking up to the view it provides is a dream! The house is situated on a cliff overlooking the ocean and the beautiful sunrises! The house staff (Julia, Lucy, & Maximo) were superb! I would highly recommend having them provide dinner (Julia and Lucy cook a killer lasagna), all meals were amazing and filling! We also had breakfast which was a great idea, and if you want something besides a traditional breakfast (toast, fruit, eggs, bacon) all you have to do is request it! Julia & Lucy were very accommodating when we asked to prepare a particular meal or change the scheduled menu. Julia was very detail oriented and always ensured we had everything we needed. She handled setting up all transportation, the excersions, as well as, the additional groceries we requested on the way in. We never felt threatened or unsafe (Maximo and the watchman were great). Chester will tell you, so make sure you listen...Don't pet the cats!! Lil Diablito is an amazing older dog that makes sure you are aware if someone or something is in the yard and will chase it off. The Wi-Fi, plumbing, and electrical is not up to US standard or the Americanized resorts, but in no means does it deter from the experience. Thank you Chester and Staff for an amazing trip and treating my family like your own! Look forward to our next visit!! Cindi & Clan #C150"

Connie Hess-Hein"

  • You won't want to vacation anywhere else!

"Sunrise Villa is amazing! The layout of the Villa is perfect. The rooms and separate little villas are clean, comfortable and beautiful. The staff is superb!! They are kind & accommodating. The food is fresh, healthy, local and amazing. The bar and bartender, Ramon, are perfect! We enjoyed fresh pina coladas and fresh guacamole at 5pm every day! The pool and hot tub are relaxing and clean and there is ample space to sit in the sun or the shade around the pool. The view is breath-taking and the beach is great for walking and finding sea treasures. If you have any need, they will take care of it. Everything is thought of and you are treated like a celebrity! From in-house mani/peids and cliff-side massages (simply a MUST) to beach picnics and bonfires with music and quiet evenings on your private patio... it's your vacation and you can do what you want! Perfect for relaxing and getting away from the hustle and bustle of life. You must experience Sunrise Villa! We had 5 couples in our group and it was perfect. You could easily have many more people; however, 5-7 couples (or less) is what I would recommend. There isn't a lot for young children to do, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend this as a family destination. There is a small town close by (Cabrera) but there isn't much there. There are no big resorts or big tourist attractions anywhere near the Villa. Which makes it really nice (no other tourists anywhere!); however, a little tricky to get to. From Santo Domingo airport - plan on a two or two and a half hour cab ride! The swimming right in front of the Villa isn't very good. There is a lot of coral and sea urchins. Plus, there can be an undertow. However, there are some excursions (horseback riding, snorkeling, kayaking, etc.) that the Villa will arrange for you if you desire. We ventured to Laguna Dudu, which is a freshwater sinkhole near the Villa - definitely worth checking out. We went to La Playa Grande one day. It is a beautiful beach with great swimming and surfing! My husband and I took an hour cab ride (arranged by Villa) to Caberete (an international kite-surfing destination) so he could kite-surf. Definitely something to check out. We enjoyed some Presidentes (Dominican beer) and fresh fish tacos on the beach at the Kite Club. It was a lot of fun to watch over 75 kite surfers zooming across the ocean! Once you visit the Villa - you won't want to vacation anywhere else!"
