  • Villas at Puerto Plata

"This was our second visit to LHVC and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend the villas because the personalized service made our stay quite luxurious. It doesn't get any better for me when I woke up every morning and was greeted with a freshly brewed cup of coffee which I enjoyed while seated by my private pool as I waited for breakfast to be served by our personal chef! Heavenly!! We went with another couple and our teenage children and everyone had a nice time. We enjoyed several beautiful beaches over our weeklong stay and nightly entertainment on the property. It was truly a memorable vacation."

  • Incredible vacation - we didn't want to leave!

"I am still having withdrawals that we had to leave! Just seeing the pictures on the property listing makes me sad that we aren't there anymore. The description is incredibly accurate - the view is amazing and having the doors during the day open makes for an incredible ocean breeze with the relaxing sound of waves. Having the water cooler with a 5 gallon jug of purified water was a life saver - we filled a few water bottles every day before going on outings. The washer and dryer were SO NICE. We would throw our beach towels into the dryer as soon as we got home and the maid would do other laundry. We came home to the US with NO dirty laundry. How incredible is that?! I know when I scour VRBO to look for places to stay, its hard to decipher things about the pictures shown. To help you, I'll add some comments about things in the pictures on this listing. The coffee table in the living room was huge and we had all of our games for the kids, trip info, books, etc on there. We used it heavily. The master bedroom is really like triple the size of what the picture seems to portray, so we had a large space for our suitcases. Both bedrooms have huge closet spaces too. So we had tons of space to spread out. We flew into Santiago (STI airport code) which is a longer drive than the closer airport (~1.5 hours). However, flying into that airport was much better airfare for us so that is why we did that. The typical day was sleep until 8:30am, wake up and relax while maid cooked breakfast. Then, eat breakfast on the balcony and stare at the ocean. Head out for some kind of adventure. Come back around 5pm (sunset ~6pm in the winter) and enjoy just hanging out at the condo the rest of the evening. We relaxed, read, played games, and enjoyed TV-free time as a family. Some of the local adventures we did - ATV "buggies" in Puerto Plata, horseback riding tour in Puerto Plata, and the cable car Telefrico also in Puerto Plata. 27 Waterfalls park is a must do - you don't have to go through a tour company either. We went to many beaches - Cofresi, Costembar, Cabarete, and Sosua. Our favorite was probably Sosua as we went on a banana boat and did a fantastic snorkeling tour from there. Massages on the beach, some shopping, eating out, etc. We took our girls to Ocean World - expensive to swim with dolphins, but our girls will remember that forever. Absolutely LOVED our stay. Like I said, we are truly sad we had to leave. Would stay here again without a doubt!!"

  • A week in Paradise

"We were a family of 12, ages 10 to 77, and everyone had a great time! The villa is just as represented on their web site. It is very clean and well kept. The staff, Julio, Mercy and Glennie, were wonderful. Mercy and Glennie prepared 3 meals a day. The food was good and fresh - not gourmet but tasty. It is not spicy - except for the chicken salad. you get a list of foods to choose from ahead of time and can add or delete what you want. The Wi-Fi works well as does the cable TV. The electricity is compatible with US current. The only problem that we had was, although the bedrooms have A.C. so you have no problem sleeping, the rest of the villa is not. There are lots of fans but, since we were there for a very hot August week, we felt uncomfortable sitting in the living room watching the Olympics. I would love to return during the cooler months. Nothing like Pina coladas in the pool!"

  • Great Affordable Honeymoon/Vacation

"Let me first start off by saying Frank was really great and easy to work with. He is very responsive and extremely professional and I'd definitely do business with him again. Overall me and my husband had an amazing honeymoon, the resort was beautiful and the Guest VIP Gold bands made almost everything accessible which was a major plus. They initially put us in a smaller room but quickly changed it the next day to the Larger Room with the King bed. The Room was amazing and the bathroom tub and shower were AWESOME! It was cleaned and maintained well. A bit of a pain that there was no elevator but i got in some great exercise lol. The Resort is quite large and a bit intimidating to navigate around at first but after 2 days you can sort of get your bearings. Most of the time the staff was helpful but sometimes everyone kept passing us around from one person to another and no one had any answers. The food was good, our favorite restaurant by far was El Pilon the Dominican Restaurant, I also heard the Mexican Restaurant was good too but we didn't get a chance to eat there. We also enjoyed the Brazilian restaurant. The VIP Pool and Beaches were beautiful and the service was great! Often times while walking around the staff will try to take you on a tour of the property and try to get you to purchase a timeshare with them. We spent half of our first day haggling with 2 or 3 different salesman to tell them we weren't interested. Then it happened again the next day while we were trying to just relax at the pool. We quickly found out that we had to just tell them we had already taken the tour or we were leaving soon. We booked a couples massage which was well worth the money, the spa is BEAUTIFUL and the grounds are simply breathtaking. The gentleman that made us smoothies at the smoothie bar inside was delightful and it was one of the best smoothies I ever had. We also booked at ATV/4 Wheeler tour which was SO MUCH FUN for many different reasons. Unfortunately they charged us double what they should have and didn't give us a refund, apparently it happened to another couple at the resort, it must be something they do regularly so be careful when booking certain excursions. Overall we had an amazing and wonderful time, we definitely want to return especially since now we know how to navigate around the salesman that constantly work this place and try to make you buy timeshares."
