  • Great time in Ocho Rios

    "First thing you should know about this place his that you must have Mrs Hinnes (Barbara) cook for you... She cooks great traditionnal meals, with love and attention, she is so sweet and loving, thank you so much Barbara for your good care. The condo itself is bigger than the pictures actually let you see, the big porch is certainly one of the main highlights of this place and the kitchen is very small when you're two inside it's crowded. The condo is perfect for 4 persons, if you don't intend to cook yourself. The general condition of the inside is average don't expect it to be like a Hilton, but all & all it was satisfactory to us. The pool is almost a private pool since 9 times out of 10 when we used it we were alone... Mr. Powell was very responsive and we appreciated the fact that he checked with us the firts days to make sure everything was good, we had a small issue with air conditioning and Wi Fi wich was taken care of in a diligent time. What you need to know: - there are no screens on the widows and opening so at knight you do get some of bitting muskitos comming in, you should bring repellant. - The condo as a magnific view because it's on a hillside, wich also means you will have to go up hill comming back from town and there are many steps from the pool to the condo, plus there are 27 steps in the straicase to get to the condo. For us this was not an issue we used that as a work out, after our 3 weeks stay our cardio was used to all that climbing. - We had a deception, we were charged $100 000 Jmc for the glass on top of the dinning table, one night we were having diner and our arm were resting on the glaas on the table which had a tablecoth under wich seemed to cause a space, thus resulting on pressur on the sides we heard a crack and notice the glass splited from side to side right in the middle. We had to pay that amount even if it never was replaced nor got a written estimate from a store, we kind of felt we got the short change on that one, since we feel it was more a flaw of the way it was installed than an abusive use of our part. I would recommand you ask the glass to be removed prior to your arrivale to prevent this very irritating situation to happen again. We recommand this place you get you're money's worth and more, at no time when felt not secured. Frank (4 adults in their 50's)"

  • Something just missing.

    "Sandcastle is an older complex and that is what I believe we paid for. However there were a few surprises both good and bad. Good: The grounds are absolutely beautiful. It was such a pleaseure to walk around and see the different plants, flowers and trees. Whoever takes care of these areas does a great job. The pool was great. For an older property it was well maintained with fresh paint and twice a day it was treated (Just needed more lounge chairs). The beach area was inviting and seemed to be cared for each day. Bad: we knew our room was going to be older but when we arrived we realized the light in the living room didn't work, the remote for the TV didn't fully work and there were small ants all over the kitchen. We contacted Mr Green and he came the next day, looked at the items and said he would get them fixed on Monday (We arrived on Friday and shared this with him on Saturday), they were never addressed. He did however finally bring some beach towels. His main focus was to get us to use him as our taxi service. He was higher than the people out from of the resort. The second issue was of the workers at the desk, they tried to charge me considerably more for a taxi that the people sitting outside the resort, not resort friendly. Bar area was also overpriced even for Jamaica. Remember there is a max the taxi's can charge but they can come lower, play them against each other. Finally remember the restaurants don't offer much variety so picky people may have trouble. Met some nice people and always felt safe, in and out of the resort gates."

  • great location, view first class

    "The beach apartment was in a first class location, lovely views in all direction. Property well-maintained and clean. Activities, attractions and restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Rental was worth the price, we had a good deal. Local area offered all our needs and will come back next year using the same rental."
