  • The ONLY place to stay in Negril!!

"Nirvana deserves 10 stars! This was our 3rd trip to Nirvana but our 9th to Jamaica. After many stays at other places, we have found "OUR" place. We LOVE Nirvana. The staff is AMAZING. I know I will be leaving a few out and I do aplologize in advance for that. We will start with the driver Leon. Great guy and super nice! Always waiting at the airport with a smile on his face. Security is A++. Patrick greeted us at the front gate late Friday night and got us to our room. *Errol is day watch. He makes sure you aren't bothered by anyone, and I enjoy our conversations. He is a wealth of knowledge. He always knows exactly where to put our chairs. I hope he works there many years to come. He works hard. Never a worry for us to leave our stuff at our chairs and run down the beach. Great guy! Shine the night guard makes sure everyone is safe and sound. He is also available for any questions or help you may need. We NEVER have anything to worry about leaving at night or coming back via beach side or street side. Sandra is just the sweetest thing. She is also a wealth of knowledge and can set up massages, babysitting or anything you might need. Super sweetheart! The grounds---Oh my gosh--they out do theirselves in that department. Always something new to look at in the gardens. Moses and Otis both are outstanding men with a work ethic that is almost unseen these days, in the states. The beach is immaculate every morning. I watched Otis work alone. He worked with his heart and soul. I watched and he is so happy! Where can I apply? He has so much pride in all he does. I see it! Housekeeping staff: Where do I start. Lynn is a good woman. JudyAnn in laundry is a sweetie as well. (There are more and I knew I'd leave some out.) It's almost like they are ghosts. We leave for a quick cup of coffee and come back to an immaculate room. Great group of women. Again, I left out 4 or 5 names. If you want to feel like the most important person around, this is for you. The staff make Nirvana what it is. We enjoy it immensely. We stay in the Upper Verandah Suite and it's perfect for us. I can't comment on any of the other cottages layout, but I can say they ALL look very inviting. There are plenty of dishes and such. I just can't say anything bad. Nirvana is the HAPPIEST place on earth. Already booking for next year!! Thanks Nirvana, for being my Nirvana!"

  • Great.

"Our group of three friends stayed at the cottage for two weeks in October. Prior to our arrival, caretaker Bredda coordinated an airport pick-up in Montego Bay and provided real-time updates on the status of Hurricane Matthew. We were to arrive hours after mainstream US news predicted Matthew would hit Jamaica...but it never did. Bredda kept us in the loop via text, and was at the airport to meet us. The property is just as the listing describes. A simple kitchen with all the implements, AC in the bedroom, toilet and indoor/outdoor showers. Bedroom includes a king bed, and a twin bed. In the living area, there are two day beds and a two-seat bar area for breakfast. The porch was a perfect spot with a picnic table and adirondack chair. Sunsets were best viewed from hammocks in either of two tikis. The beach is a dark sand, lots of big rocks, and plenty of easy paths into the sea. We spent a lot of time snorkling up and down the coast - lots of small fish, a few schools of bait, and lots of other creatures. Our host, Bredda, was a perfect part of the experience. We did not rent a car, so relied on hired cars or walking to keep supplied. Over the course of two weeks, we ventured out on a couple of boats, and checked out YS Falls. Bredda had our best interests in mind, and connected us with warm and real tour guides. He was graciously available to hook us up with last-minute things, as well. We enjoyed a few meals together. In summary, Avita Villa is ideal for a simple retreat with loved ones or friends to take in the amazing landscape of Jamaica's southern coast and connect with a few good local folks. Stock up on your way from Montego bay, find the women selling fish in Black River, and hit up the market for produce. Couple of recommendations: - Boat from Billy's Bay, up the Black River crabs at the bridge, and to the Pelican Bar is worth the money on a sunny day. Do it. - Islands off of Alligator Pond. Took a boat out to snorkel for a few hours, and then went to Little Ochie's for a great meal. Expect to pay 25 US for a big meal and a few beers. Great day! Do it. -YS Falls. We set out for YS in search of another waterfall that we found out had been closed for a year or so. YS was a last-minute decision. This is a huge destination for bigger hotels and tourists...The falls are beautiful, but it's an attraction that has been built up with stairs and decks, rope swings, restaurants. A solid plan B."
