  • Another great vacation!

"Second time staying at Cocoplum #1, just sat great as the first. See "just relax" review. Stayed for 2 weeks and had a great time. Like I said before bring rubber soled beach shoes and rent a car. You will really appreciate the island more and have your freedom to go wherever you want. Cabs are all over so you can uses those also but you don't have the luxury of throwing your beach bag cooler and chairs in the back and just going wherever. Howard the owner is great and will check in with you to make sure everything is OK. Snorkeling is 30 feet away and a shipwreck is just a 100 yards out. Great place to stay and quite complex. A lot of the people there live and work on the island so you don't get the big loud party seen."

  • Excellent Cottage, Amazing Hospitality

"Booking online, sight unseen, can be risky and at times you aren't really sure what you're going to get. We had never been to St John, didn't know the area and wasn't really sure what to prepare ourselves for. I can say staying at this location, Sol Cottage, was the best choice we could have made hands down. James went above and beyond to make our trip special and accommodating. Upon arrival, we had snacks and treats waiting for us after a long day of traveling and a clean, cozy cottage for us to call home for the next few days. It sets outside of the hectic hustle and bustle of Cruz Bay and is nestled in the natural vegetation of the island. James has made the property welcoming and easy on the eyes. The bed was better than any hotel bed I've paid 3 times the amount to sleep in and the kitchenette had everything we needed. A TV and wifi worked great for a habitual wind down for my wife and I and let us communicate back to the mainland without having to worry about phone service. We have already discussed plans to come back to St. John and stay here again. I can't say enough good things about this property or James, as it hit the spot for our perfect little getaway. Before you go and spend considerably more to stay in one of the resorts, check this place out first, you'll be glad you did."

  • Wonderful Family Vacation

"We arrived on 9-20 for a very overdue family vacation. Linda was very welcoming and gave us a ton of info about the area and also all the amenities of the main house before she left. We also met Edson our first day and were immediately in love with him. Our first night and second nights were uneventful and we slept well. We went to the fish fry Thursday evening and had an absolute blast being around tons of locals as well as other tourists. The food is spectacular and inexpensive compared to some of the other places on the island. We went home, and after some great family time on the west patio, we all turned in for the night. About 4:30 that morning the alarm went off and we all came jumping out of bed. The security company called almost immediately and we told them what had happened and they arrived within 10 minutes to check things out. They did not find anything, and we all went back to bed for a bit. We got back up about 7 and after breakfast as we were headed out to Chalk Sound for the day, we noticed the screen had been cut near the front entry way - so we immediately contacted Linda and Alfonzo - who came to the house within about 30 minutes. They also found some palm prints on one of the bedroom sliding doors where someone had apparently tried to slide it open. So, for the remainder of our trip - Edson was our bodyguard and property patrol - he was up all night long making rounds of the property and when he would see that we were up, he would go to bed. This helped us feel more secure, as my daughter and son-in-law's bedroom was the one that they had tried to get into - and she was pretty upset about it, as would be expected. We had no more issues with this the entire time we were there. The house is wonderful - the view from the front room takes your breath away - having a laundry onsite it WONDERFUL! We were next door at Beach House nearly every day of our stay - letting "The Sherminator" take care of our needs. They were so gracious in letting us use their beach chairs and water equipment. Since we went in the off-season, no place was ever very busy. Some of the restaurants close for renovations, so we were sad that we couldn't take the kids to Heminway's or Coco Bistro, but we did eat at Mango Reef, Tiki Hut, Sharkbite, and Baci. Also Giggles ice cream! :) Take lots of money - as groceries are ridiculous. But you will NEVER see water this color anywhere else in the world! So it's worth it!"

  • Absolute piece of paradise

"This is a spectacular property and this unit is absolutely top notch. It has everything you could possibly need. The unit has plenty of room for everyone and the balcony was huge as well with two loungers and a table with four chairs for outdoor dining. You have unbelievably huge views and the breeze is so nice. The beach is literally steps away. The condo is well appointed with nice bedding, comfortable furniture, plenty of pillows and towels (including beach towels) and the TV gets more channels that I would ever imagine. The wifi worked just fine and never had any issues with it or the tv reception. The property is well kept and super clean. Since the property is gated it gives you a complete sense of safety with no worries at all. The town can get a bit busy but just come in the gate and you arrive at laid back paradise. The condo is within walking distance to all the beach bars, restaurants, bank, shopping and super market. The people are so friendly and helpful. You must try Bliss for dinner and Gordita's for lunch while you are here. I must say that Pam was extremely helpful getting this booked and setting me up with all the information I needed. I asked a ton of questions and she was so responsive and made everything so easy. She left nothing out. She even set me up with a taxi driver that was there for me whenever I needed to go anywhere. He, Francisco, is an absolute gem and can set up the most amazing private tours around Dominican. If you choose to visit, you will not be disappointed."
