  • Three weeks of relaxation & fun.

"We were so happy we rented this apartment-so conveniently placed for the beach-Dover,St Lawrence Gap entertainment, across the road from a convenience store, taxis just round the corner , the local bus route 5 mins walk away & some great eating places within easy walking distances. The apartment met all our needs. The description of all amenities were accurate, beds were comfortable & the place was very clean. Rob the owner was very prompt in answering all our emails & all questions thrown at him. The staff from the management company that looked after the apartment were also very efficient (shout out to Katherine who met us on our arrival at the apartment & answered any outstanding questions especially about the island & Gregg who was also very helpful in sorting out the AC) I must also mention Oretta who came to the apartment every three days to clean & replace linen & towels-she did a wonderful job. We enjoyed Barbados-where you can be as lively or as relaxed as you wish. Most nights after some activity or not during the day - we would relax on the balcony-drink in hand waiting for the entertainment from the Jazz bar Scoopies across the road. Some nights we would even join in & do some dancing!! All entertainment finished at midnight. The noise might not appeal to everyone but we loved it-after all it is Barbados. Just a note though if you didn't want the noise we found just be shutting all the doors you heard very little. I would highly recommend this safe & modern property in a great location."

  • Simply the Best...

"My girlfriend and I just returned from Off the Reef. It was a glorious time! The view itself makes the price of a night worth it, even if it were twice the price. The pictures online DO NOT LIE! It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Allan and Carolyn have spared no expense to make this little bundle of paradise functional and fascinating. Bring a cooler and chairs if you want to, but you'll never need them. The only things we actually needed were our sunglasses and sunscreen. (And who doesn't bring those?) Be very specific with any car rental company you deal with. The roads in Eleuthera are terrible and there is no middle line on Queens Highway (except for spots in southern Eleuthera). If you drive on the right at home, request a car with left-hand operation. It's more than a little sketchy driving on both the wrong side of the road and the wrong side of the car. Also, if you're adventurous (like us) you'll want to visit some of the other beaches that you'll undoubtedly read about. Make sure you have 4-wheel or All-Wheel Drive!!! Lighthouse Beach is a pretty place, but it's a tough road to get there and God-forbid if you get stuck in the sand or get a flat! I'd venture to say that heading down to The Market at Rock Sound and buying four days worth of groceries and dining at Tippy's and 1648 should suffice a couple for the week. Be prepared, though, groceries, food and drink are expensive on the island. Take your snorkel gear! I saw about 15 varieties of fish and a ray while just "off the reef". I only got out as far as the fourth rock formation and the sealife was amazing! If you feel the need to get some fresh conch for fritters/rangoon, I'd recommend heading down to Bannermantown past the turnoff to Lighthouse Beach. There are hundreds of tidepools with living sealife. We didn't take advantage of it, though. My gal detests killing things and I kind of agree. So, that's that! Off the Reef is the place to be on Eleuthera for a couple. Everything you need, nothing that you don't. Carolyn is great about correspondence, so messaging is almost instantaneous. We love her! Missing OTR already... Hope to be back some time soon!"

  • Home away from home

"My stay at Ginger Lillies was amazing! My friends and I had a great time. The ammenities at the house were beyond our expectations. The house was very tidy and clean upon arrival and a cleaning service was offered during our stay. Our requests were met with minimum hassle and staff were friendly. Will definitely be staying at Ginger Lillies again!!"

"really nice place. had everything we needed. although the place had a traditional indoor shower we all wound up using the outdoor shower, as we enjoyed showering while looking at bougainvillea flowers and palm trees. the walk to the beach is minimal(300-400 yards),and no worse than staying in the back of a wide beachfront complex. it was nice to have the snorkeling equipment that came with the place, as that stuff is bulky and heavy to bring on the plane. although you can do ok not having a car, we suggest renting one, because the best restaurants we found were not in walking distance. that being said, there are plenty of restaurants you can walk to. beach is beautiful, and you can walk for miles. it looks a lot like 7 mile beach in grand cayman. we highly recommend the apartment and the location."
