  • Great family retreat

"Family and I just spent 10 days here in Aguada in the Oceanfront Penthouse. We are from Denver and this was our first time to the West side of PR. The beach here was great for us. Some higher surf which my boys love (12 and 14), but I'm not sure it would be great for smaller kids. Many days we ended in the pool which was great. We took day trips to Crash Beach (lovely sand beach)and to Rincon (for surfing). Weather was outstanding! 85 everyday! The experience here has been a good one. Comfortable space, and perfect for our family. The roof top patio is nice to have a place to get away from the kids and have a glass of wine. Our host Mildred was great! She met us and brought us to the unit on day 1, then took us to the grocery store. Was always available if we needed anything. We did like the fact that it is a gated complex too. The bad.... As was noted in some other reviews, there is a few roosters that live next door. We planned ahead. Brought earplugs. If you are a light sleeper, not so great. Bright side is if you want to get up early to enjoy more of the beautiful beach, it helps. 😉򒐊 The unit is on the 3rd floor, so a bit of stairs, but not bad. All in all, a great stay."

  • Perfect!

"Place was awesome, there was only 4 of us but it could easily sleep two families of 4 comfortably. Patio is huge with 4 hammocks, lounge chairs, picnic table, outdoor BBQ, which is nice because there is a stove and microwave but no oven. But who wants to bake on vacation? Couldn't ask for a better location; gets plenty of sun, right on the ocean, and the sea breeze keeps the bugs away. The oceanfront is very close and private. The house is only 10 minutes north of Rincon with some great surfing spots (Maria's, Dome's, & Sandy beach). Steps beach is also quite close and has decent snorkeling. We rented some surf boards for the week and were even able to catch some waves right in front of the house. Crash boat beach is only a 20 minute drive north, which also has some good snorkeling under the pier. San Sebastián Waterfalls are within an hour drive and worth checking out, great place to take a dip and jump off a gorgeous waterfall. Lillian was great and the place is set up perfectly for some R&R or a good home base to explore the west coast of PR. The drive is a little long from San Juan (2-3 hrs depending on traffic, and there's almost always traffic) but definitely worth the drive. We highly recommend and hope to go back soon!"

  • Great location, awesome back porch to watch the ocean

"The location is fantastic. The beach is barely occupied. You might see a person walk by a few times a day so you basically have it to yourself. In the winter and when the waves are a little smaller, you can surf right outside the beach (just watch for the cool looking rock shelves that show up in winter and will scratch your board). We loved the back porch with lots of seating for lounging, napping, reading or eating dinner and spent most of our time out there. Kitchen has almost everything you need to cook. I would have liked to have a blender to make some "island" type drinks, however. Thought we would miss our regular coffee maker but loved to make cappuccino's every morning with the cappuccino machine. Beds were comfortable and you could sleep a small family comfortably between the two rooms. It did lack glassware (everything but one glass was plastic), only two coffee cups and no wine glasses. Also, being on an island, sometimes fresh water can be an issue and the public water reduced to almost a trickle for two days which meant cold, low pressure showers during those two days (tankless water heaters need a certain amount of flow to kick on). Not the owners fault as it's part of island life. Overall, loved this location and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the house."
