  • A real stunner!

"2 words: JUST GO! The entire process was simple form beginning to end. Bob (owner) and Karen (property mgr) answered every question and ensured a perfect, relaxing getaway in an excellently appointed, very spacious island villa. You'll want for nothing during your stay. We prepared meals for 11 with ease both in the kitchen and outdoor patio area. The kids loved the pool while the adults sipped beverages and took in the beautiful view of the Atlantic and the main land. Huge, air conditioned bedrooms, outdoor showers, island breeze, what more could you ask for! Plenty of beach chairs on site which was a nice addition while enjoying the most private. scenic beaches I've ever seen. Truly an untouched, natural island. Locals are friendly and helpful if you have questions. The two towns, Isabel and Esperanza are a very short drive from the property and worth spending time in to really get a feel for the island's culture. I could go on and on about this property and island but you just need to experience it for yourself, you won't regret it. Bob Blanton and family Zeeland, MI"

  • The view and nights on the veranda make it all worth it!

"We must admit that we had to adjust our expectations upon arrival. The house was smaller and bit more "rustic" than what we had expected. But we soon learned that was the case with many things on this beautiful island. And as far as homes on this island go, The Reef House offers a spectacular view, great location and mid-to-higher tier of accommodation relative to other places on the island. Overall, the home is a perfect place to enjoy your adventures on Vieques. The A/C in the bedroom is a life-saver (we stayed in July/August). It did take some adjusting to get used to the non-AC throughout the remainder of the home. The verandah/outdoor patio was perfectly appointed with comfortable chairs and two large tables that are great for outdoor dining. The awning is a nice touch to get out of the heat. The bugs of course are an issue but this is the case everyone on the island. We appreciated the basket of bug spray provided and brought some of our own. The kitchen had everything we needed in the way of dishes, serving platters, tupperware and more. The fridge ran a little warm (didn't seal well) and the dishwasher didn't work every time, but we were fine with washing our own dishes. We appreciated the condiments and seasonings left behind by previous renters. We made it work! The beds were super comfy and clean. We all had a great-night's sleep the whole week there. The bathrooms were fine (the big shower in the master is super convenient), but drainage in the guest shower was a small issue. The washer and dryer worked great and are a huge plus when washing beach towels and clothes. We never really used the living area - mostly because we enjoyed the outside. The WiFi worked most of the time (a few times we had to reset it) but the satellite TV never worked (though that might have been a blessing in disguise). Lots of great books and info for visitors to use. We also appreciated the beach chairs, umbrella and gear left behind. Perfect for throwing in a Jeep and hitting the beaches all day. Though larger groups may want to bring/buy/rent their own chairs (they only had 2 non-broken chairs), floats and snorkeling gear. And it may be worth buying your own cooler, too. For the price and the location, we would recommend The Reef House to couples and older families traveling to Vieques."

  • Best Destination Yet!

"I am an educator who has traveled the world with student groups and my stay at La Finca Caribe was one of the most amazing yet. From the minute I made contact with Scott, the property manager, I was made to feel like a valued guest...which is not always the case when you travel with 18 teenagers! Scott was the "Yes" man; he was beyond helpful with info regarding tours, transportation, and activities on the island. Things only got better from there: meeting Bill, our other charming host; the pure joy you feel when you arrive at the beautiful, intoxicating surroundings that are La Finca; the sounds and sights of the Caribbean jungle; the magic of the breeze on the open porch of Casa Grande amidst the twinkling lights at night...There were so many highlights of our stay at La Finca including the fully equipped, huge kitchen, the outdoor showers, as well as the salt water pool. There were so many places we could be that we never felt crowded or cramped, even in a group of 20. Best of all, though, was the impeccable attention to detail that our hosts, Scott and Bill, contributed that made our stay especially awesome. They were never too busy to answer the zillion questions the students had; they took us to the Sugar Mill and helped the kids catch tarantulas and open coconuts! The smaller houses on the property were also gorgeous and I can't wait to return with my family sometime soon. I also really appreciated the emphasis on green travel that La Finca supports! Thanks Scott & Bill for doing everything in your power to make our stay the best!"
