  • Gorgeous Views from this Condo in Maho!

"My husband and I stayed in this unit for 3 weeks over Christmas. The pictures of the unit are accurate. The size was plenty big enough for the two of us, it was clean, the bed was comfortable and the air conditioner worked fine. We did go and purchase 2 pillows as the pillows there were flat. Note that the description says that it is a “Lock Out” unit. There is a hollow interior door next to the small table for 2, so you can hear the people next door and smell their food when they cook (if there are renters in there). The bathroom was large, however, we had NO hot water for the first few days, of course when the property manager came, twice, there was hot water surprisingly! Apparently the hotel next door “Alegria” was working on the water lines or something, which affected the building that we were in. Given that there is a non-working elevator, this unit is on the 4th floor, so you get plenty of exercise in with all the stairs! There is also no internet service and you had to go over to the Alegria to use their Wi-Fi. We knew this going in, so it was not a problem for us. The views from the balcony were the best thing about this location!! We enjoyed watching the planes (it was always quiet after 6pm ish) and the cruise ships and large yachts!! We rented a car the entire time and explored the entire island! We took long walks to Simpson Bay; Mullet Bay; Cupecoy… Our favorite area of St. Maarten was Cupecoy! There is an excellent grocery store (Grand Marche) and next to that was an area that had several restaurants. We went to a few of those, which were excellent! We also liked having a couple of our breakfasts at the Green Monkey, which is located at one of the resorts or hotels in Cupecoy – they have a sign at the entrance! Note though that they are cash only! Good food though… We drove over to Marigot on the French side and took the ferry over to Anguilla for a day. We walked to the airport (15 minute walk vs. paying parking at the airport) and took a Winair flight over to St. Barts for a day. It was about $50 more to do this vs. the Edge ferry from Simpson Bay, so it was worth the extra money to take a 10 minute flight vs. a 45 minute ferry ride to St. Barts!! These were great trips!! Overall, we loved St. Maarten and we are returning in November 2016, but we will be staying in Cupecoy!"

  • Amazing Caribbean Villa

"Easy to find/access. Spent most of our time in or around the private 30ft. pool or surrounding patios. Lots of room and privacy inside and out. Free Wi-Fi and magic jack phone to the U.S. were definitely plusses. So relaxing, we almost didn't go anywhere else. However, I would definitely recommend renting a car. We only utilized two of the three available bedrooms. Even though we were sharing the common areas of the Villa, there was still seclusion/privacy with each bedroom. Had read complaints about mosquitoes outside and around the pool. We prepared by bringing citronella candles and insect repellant. Did not need either. Never saw one mosquito. Perhaps it was the breeze. We still used the candles around the pool at night for ambience and left them for future guests. La Casita is the perfect Villa getaway for couples, families, or friends to take a wonderful St. Martin vacation. Highly recommended. Would love to return, soon."

  • Great Place at a Great Location

"This was my first time renting through this service so I was not exactly sure what to expect. I am a former resident of St Maarten so I know lots about the island and the location, just didn't know so much about this service or the owner. Typically when I go back to the island I either stay with friends or in a hotel in the Simpson Bay area. I will say that this is definitely the way to go - the villa is exactly as it is described and the photos are 100% accurate, what you see is what you get. For this trip there were 2 adults and 2 children aged 12 and 15, and Bob's villa has everything you need for a perfect stay. Admittedly we did not cook at all while we were there (it is vacation after all), however all the amenities are there for those who choose to do so. The location itself is in a nice area in Beacon Hill, a residential neighborhood close to the airport and located right on the ocean. Needless to say much of the time spent at the villa was spent on the deck by the pool and the ocean. Since the Maho area and Simpson Bay are so close, getting to any number of great restaurants or beaches (or beach bars) is quick and easy to do. When I return to the island I always rent a car because there is so much to see and do (and because I visit old friends in different areas of the island), and I recommend anyone visiting does the same. Bob recommended a rental agency to me that he uses (I typically would use another one but thought why not try something different) and they were on hand waiting for us when we arrived at the airport to pick us up and get us on the road. The rental agency is just minutes away from the villa so it worked out perfect - pick up at the airport, get the vehicle paperwork done and then right to the villa to unpack and get vacation started. The rates were good, the car was clean and newer (not all rental places in SXM can say this!) and we had no issues from pick up to drop off. And on the last day once we dropped it off at the rental agency, they took us back to the airport for our flight. Bob was the perfect host even before we arrived by answering lots of questions before we booked the villa, to arranging the car rental, to checking in on us to make sure we had everything we need during our stay, and for conversation over a beer. So with all that said, the summary is simple - if you are looking for a great place in a great location with a great host - this is the place to be. Thanks Bob for everything - I will be back!"

  • Great Family Vacation!

"We rented Seaside Retreat January 16-26! Yes, 10 days of Caribbean bliss! There were 8 family members in our group; all adults along with a 11 year old niece. The villa provided all the necessities of home. Each couple had their own bedroom along with its own bathroom which was a plus! The views from the patio were stunning day & night! The airport landings & takeoffs were tolerable & by the end of the time there it was something that you really didn't notice to much. The villa was close to attractions & some within walking distance. Jenny, the housekeeper, did a great job cleaning 3 times while we were there. She washed bedding, towels & cleaned bathrooms. There was plenty of hot water for the group at all times. All the kitchen appliances worked well. It might be a good idea to print off an online detailed map of the island before you come because there were not any to be found on the island. They did provide one but was very vague on street details. I would like to throw in a few things that may need attention. Not trying to be picky - just saying. *Internet was not very reliable at all. For the most part it was difficult to get connected. *Patio/pool were wonderful, the balcony could be a hazard to smaller children due to gap width in the railing. *Bathroom, kitchen & beach towels were getting thin. *Washing machine did not spin out the water. We informed Jenny & she seemed aware of the issue. *Would be nice to have lids for the frying pans in the kitchen. *Patio door screen looked like someone had fixed them in the past however they were in need of some attention as there were open gaps in them. Not good to keep out mosquitos and other bugs. Attractions we visited: *David's Pocket-beautiful! *Maho beach-cool watching airplanes land & takeoff plus good food at Driftwood beach bar. Plus shopping in Maho & eating at the 3 Amigos-good Tex-Mex. *Mullet Bay beach-stunning sunsets & relatively calm bay. *Pinel Island-relaxing & great snorkeling on the other side of the island. *Shopping in Phillipsburg-specifically visiting Juggie's Place "smallest bar in the world", his deal was 2 beers & a Cuban cigar for $2.99. The guys in the group this & enjoyed visiting with Juggie while the girls shopped in the nearby store. *Little Bay beach-nice & not many people. All in all Seaside Retreat did not disappoint. If we ever get the chance to return to Sint Maarten we would stay here again. Thanks Rick for sharing your villa! Stay well!"
