  • Great house in a great location

"This is a great property with a great location. It’s in a quiet neighborhood north of town but close enough for easy access to any services or restaurants in town. It’s also well on the way to the dozens of the northern west coast dive sites so you're at the first with a five minute drive. The standout feature upstairs are beautiful louvered hardwood sliding doors that fan-fold and make the walls disappear so that the house opens up to great airflow, wraparound decks, views of the ocean and a feeling of being completely outdoors. We're foodies and appreciated the kitchen-- very modern, nicely laid out and well equipped. And with the sliders open it's a few steps out to a great breakfast view in the morning and cocktails in the evening. All the downstairs bedrooms have their own split A/C units, generous storage areas and the same type of louvered hardwood doors that let them be closed and private or open and airy. There’s a lot to do and see on Bonaire so there were lots of activities competing for our attention but if you want a lazy end of the day it’s a pleasant walk thru the neighborhood to the closest beaches for sunsets into the water. The house is a great home base for any mix of Bonaire visit activities."

  • A nice family getaway

"My husband, my daughter, and I stayed in Tree Frog for a week. Pros: The owner and property manager were helpful and easy to communicate with, and the property was as described in the listing. Furnishings are nice and in good shape, attractive decor and good layout. We specifically wanted a place with an indoor vs outdoor staircase since we were traveling with a child- didn't want her traipsing around outside without us if we slept on different floors, and it was perfect. Downstairs bedroom is spacious, and the bed is comfortable. There are lots of beach supplies available for renters to use: several Tommy Bahama beach chairs (the best kind!), coolers, sand toys, etc. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals and cocktails. There were also plenty of extra towels and linens if we needed them, also well-stocked toilet paper and paper towels as well as some bathroom items. We appreciated that some of the pantry and toiletry items are left behind from other guests, like condiments, extra sunblock, bug spray, etc. (We've stayed at places where there was NOTHING!) Lots of privacy- no visible neighbors, no noise other than the sounds of nature. Nice view from upstairs balcony- it was cool to watch the birds during the day and especially cool to watch the bats at dusk. Cons: the drive really is rough. It is not for the inexperienced USVI driver. We didn't mind too much because we planned on eating dinner at the cottage every night anyway, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone who plans to eat/drink out then return after dark. We did use the AC downstairs in the bedroom every night... we did not find that the breezes cooled the place enough for the July heat. The patio door opening upstairs lacks a screen, so with it open, the breezes come in, but so do the mosquitoes. Our daughter ended up sleeping downstairs too. There is an AC unit upstairs too, but it didn't seem to do the trick just to cool the place at night. The bathroom was damp and hot 24/7, which came with a gross smell. The towels all smelled a little mildewy. We visit St. John a lot and so we've come to expect these things (you will find the same if not worse at other villas in this price range- TRUST ME!); I only mention it for those who are unfamiliar with St. John rentals. I've heard it's cooler and the AC is not needed at other times of the year, but we've found we need it when we come in late June or July. We enjoyed our trip, and staying at Tree Frog was a good experience."

  • Amazing in Anguilla

"My family and I spent eleven nights at Moonrise in December. We can't wait to return again, this will be our "home" away from home for future visits to the island. We were a party of four adults and two children. We rented a car through Neville, whom the owner had suggested and he welcomed us upon arrival with our rental. We also ordered wine and rum from Nathalie's Wine Shop and had it delivered to the house prior to arrival. The girls took care of us by supplying the kitchen with requested items for the first night. The villa is beautiful. Very well appointed and the kitchen is well equipped. My husband is a chef so we felt right at home while we cooked the nights and days we were not out and about. The home is a perfect size, very open and spacious with stunning views of the ocean. The two masters are on different ends of the house each with their own balcony, so we were still able to sustain privacy, and the room with two twin beds worked out perfectly for our children. While not directly on the beach, there is small little beach you can walk to. We liked that we could get into the car and visit different beaches throughout our stay, and the car ride was never more that ten to fifteen minutes, depending on what side of the island you were going to. The pool was fantastic to come home to, and the view is unbeatable. Make it a point to wake up early and stare at the sunrise, absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed the seclusion and serenity of this home. Anguilla really was the perfect vacation for us. The restaurants are amazing, but we were also happy to stay and cook at home. We visited Rainbow Farms for local produce, and visited the Fishery for fresh fish. If you go to Rainbow, buy some arugula, it will be the best lettuce you have ever eaten. The owner is very accommodating, and easy to stay in touch with and really helped make our stay the best. We received an information packet with suggestions from her, and we would also recommend cocktails at the Viceroy! We spent a couple days at Blanchard's beach shack for lunch, and had dinner at Veya, Straw Hat, Hibernia. We also lunched at the Malliouhana, as well as having spa treatments there. We rented a catamaran SAIL CHOCOLAT, through a woman Jaquie and her husband who own Ripples, and sailed to Prickly Pear, which was beautiful, and for a private charter, the price really was great. We took a day and went to Scilly Cay and had a great lobster lunch."
