  • Best Little Condo in St. Thomas

"After many, many cruises in which we visited St. Thomas for a short day, my husband and I decided to jump off the boat and stay on the island. Never having stayed on St. Thomas before, I did my best research and chose Wyndham Elysian Beach Resort -- best vacation decision we've ever made. Although Elysian has many condos to choose from, Nancy had a great selection of larger, updated condos closest to the beach and pool. The views were spectacular from our balconies, the beach and pool just steps away, and the condo itself was not only beautiful, but it had everything we could possibly need for our nine-day stay. The resort itself has a nice 'beach restaurant' for breakfast, lunch or dinner seaside; it also has a beautiful resort restaurant for a more elegant evening meal. We did a combination of cooking on our own in the condo and enjoying the many restaurants on property or nearby in Redhook. The condo kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to cook our meals and made our vacation that much easier. The condo was much larger than we needed for just us two, but we enjoyed having the extra space even just for ourselves. It would be a great condo for two or three couples, as it has three beds and three bathrooms; and for the same reason it would be perfect for traveling with kids -- lots and lots of room to spread out. Bottom line for our vacation -- beautiful island; beautiful resort; beautiful condo -- best vacation ever!"

  • Outstanding private Villa with great staff and amedities.

"I just returned home from a week in Sosua @ Villa California. One word...Outstanding! Within a couple hours of showing interest, Chris the owner of the Villa called me and was very informative about the property, the area and the local fun stuff to do. All the tips, suggestions and advice made our trip a lot better and enjoyable! Upon our arrival we were delighted with the property manager greeting us, rental car (OK Motors) guy meeting us at the airport and the armed guard (watchie man) from 6pm to 6am. Watchie man also holds I.D.'s overnight in case you might have guests. The Villa and property itself was clean/beautiful and we enjoyed the pool, view, balcony and kitchen the most. Chris checked in with us a few times to make sure the pool guy was on point and if we needed anything. Other than the water pressure to one of the guest bedrooms everything else worked perfectly. Good Wifi, A/C was really cold in the bedrooms and it was nice to have a washing machine and CD player at our leisure. Villa also has a lot of cable channels and flat screen...but who watches TV in paradise? The house keeper came twice and took care of the floors, linens, laundry and bathrooms (we kept up with the daily cleaning, dishes and garbage). Overall, the private Villa with all it's employees and amenities really was outstanding. We will most definitely rent the villa again the next time we go. Bonus...the 3rd room was downstairs with it's private quarters from the upstairs (like a small private apartment from the upstairs) also had a small kitchenette and the water pressure worked great in that shower. The Villa was also on a private street minutes from the strip, town, grocery market and Sosua beach. We have traveled a lot and love the Caribbean of the best vacations my buddy and I have had and we have the pictures and videos to prove it;) ?Thanks Chris!"

  • Between excellent and admirable

"There is much to enjoy at Serenata, and much to admire. Fist the location: above Island Harbour in a completely serene site. No other view from the terrace than trees in the garden and the native vegetation beyond that, then the ocean: no other noise than the distant rollers on the reef, the rustling palms in the (sometimes strong) wind, and the turtle doves that wake you in the morning. The neighbours to the west were never there during our month's stay, and those to the east were scrupulously quiet. You will grow to admire the layout of Serenata, the well-kept colourful garden that Wilson keeps watered. I particularly recommend a good look at the dry stone wall that encloses it, artfully done in the local manner of two-tone stones . One of the best in the island. The inside is quite spare, almost ascetic in its immaculate white, built to catch and keep the light. The floor of the great room is white tile, and some original art (not too much; you will long remember the depiction of a children's model sailboat race by Wemes that greets you on the left-hand wall; see if you can find the original of the houses that she grouped above the children) takes advantage of those white walls. The living room furniture is rattan, comfortable and complete, down to the stand alone glass top dining table. One small table and a desk, three armchairs: no other furniture. Complete, but nothing superfluous. Then there is the gallery/verandah. 60 feet of arches open to the North and to the inspection of birds in search of your breakfast crumbs (feeding them is probably a mistake, and expose all that lovely white paint to regrettable accidents). The floor is the same tile as the inside: extreme caution after rain: it becomes very slippery, and running toddlers risk serious injury. But you will not find a more serene spot than one of the four lounge chairs. The property's maintenance is excellent. There is not one flaw in the vast amount of screening necessary for the enormous amount of windows (bay windows and windows along the entire gallery). There was not a mark on any of the walls, any of the off-white counters. For places like Serenata, my wife and I are thankful. The owners (Maddeline and Rocco are a phone call away (even in the middle of the night when, left in a completely dark island by a power interruption, we had to ask where the flashlight was), and prompt to answer questions and fix problems. They were careful not to intrude,, but very helpful nonetheless."
