  • The perfect holiday home, with the best staff, on a beautiful island.

"My friends and I had the privilege of staying at Brigand Hill on the transcendent island of St. Lucia. The House: Exactly what we needed to relax and unwind. The house is set beautifully in the luscious hills of Anse La Raye, you cannot see any other properties, just beautiful greenery and the sea in the (not to far) distance. The main part of the house has a fully functioning kitchen, breakfast bar and comfortable seating leading out onto where we spent the majority of our time at the property: the large wooden dining table, pool, and sun loungers! All of the bedrooms are of equal size and each come with their own bathroom (apart from the 2 by the pool which share one), perfect for friends who like their own prep space! The master bedroom (which I had the pleasure of staying in) has beautifully high ceilings, wrap-around windows and a 4-poster bed. Due to the setting of the house, there is often a gentle breeze which keeps the temperature wonderfully refreshing. The Staff: As wonderful as Brigand Hill is, it would be nothing without the EXCEPTIONAL staff, who looked after us, like we were members of their family. Miss Vera came in the mornings to clean the rooms, bathrooms and kitchen AND do our laundry (never have I returned home with nothing to put in the washing machine) all to the highest quality; it felt as though we were living in a hotel! Bertillia is the heavenly chef that we have all struggled to live without since our return home! We had asked for local foods to be prepared, and were not disappointed at any point. Bertillia came in hours before to lovingly prepare and cook our meal and we spent but a few minutes to devour it all! We would highly recommend the St. Christophine dish, the curry goat, the breadfruit balls, and the St. Lucian national dish of salt fish and green bananas. Just typing that has given me hunger pains! Last, but certainly not least, is George – the only person you need to make sure you have the best time on the island. We didn’t really have any plans when we arrived, but George sat with us and helped us to work out an amazingly well-paced itinerary for the week. He fixed EVERYTHING for us – anything we wanted, George went out of his way to help). I am truly indebted to George for his exceptional care of me and my friends, we feel like the luckiest people to have visited St. Lucia because of him! Enjoy! :) Rob - Abi - Sam - Emma - Sandra"

  • STUNNING views in a tropical, lush and casual setting! We would definitely rent again!

"The great: We had a fantastic visit to St Lucia and thoroughly enjoyed Soufriere in particular. Beautiful place, beautiful people – we will definitely be back. The views from this home are spectacular!!!! We spent a large percentage of our time just marveling at the majestic Pitons, enjoying sunsets and identifying the diversity of the plants, flowers and birds living on the property. The house is open-air and feels very tropical. We were serenaded to sleep by frogs at night and even enjoyed a few lovely rainstorms. There is no air conditioning at the house, but we were never too hot as there are nice winds and fans in every room. The furniture is comfortable as were the beds and bedding. Ann and Cheryl were very nice and the food they made for us was very good. It’s such a treat to go on vacation and let go of all the daily chores. Nancy was easy to deal with and answered all my questions. We arranged for Popo’s to drive us to/from the airport and to get around during our stay (he’d even drop us off and pick us up later) which was very nice. The not so good: The electrical was wonky and fried our baby monitor even though we were using a high-end convertor. We ended up only plugging things in when we could watch them and take them off if it got too hot. Many lights didn’t work and seemed to be wired incorrectly. This concerned me because the only way to lock up the house at night is to pad lock yourself in with a different key for each lock. I slept with the keys in my pillow and unplugged anything that seemed dangerous because I was worried about getting out quickly should there be a fire. The wi-fi was terrible because the router is broken - a simple, inexpensive fix. There isn’t enough furniture on the balconies and various outdoor spaces. The pool was extremely dirty and we had to clean it ourselves before we were able to use it. There were also several cigarette buts on the balcony - yuck. While this is a tropical, open home, there were a lot of bugs. We were fastidious in cleaning up food scraps, but we saw quite a few roaches. While it's not possible to avoid this entirely, it might be time for a visit from an exterminator. The ceiling fan in the MBR was very loud and wobbly - an easy fix. More towels in the bathrooms would also be nice. While many of these things are small and definitely wouldn’t prevent me from referring the house, a few easy fixes would make this property more in keeping with a “luxury” rental in this price point."
