  • Amazing Vacation Home

"My wife and I along with my brother and sister in law stayed here the week of Feb 20th 2016. This was my wife's and my second trip to St. Lucia. The first impression walking thru the front door and thru the house is WOW at each and every step. Mary and Pius were so helpful and answered any question and were very accommodating. So some basics you should consider when visiting. 1) DO NOT RENT A CAR! the roads are very dangerous even for the experienced driver 2) Print out your confirmation regarding the house as you will need it going thru customs. There is no WIFI in customs if you're thinking of just bringing up the website (was a huge delay for us until resolved) 3) Consider stopping on the way from the airport to the house for sundries like munchies and liquor as there is nothing in the house and yes Mary will make you a dinner upon your arrival which is wonderful. 4) The market shops in Soufriere are European style meaning that the grocery market is mostly "dry goods" and vegetables, you may want to go to the butcher for meats, bakery for bread and such, Fish Market for seafood. Pius can help guide you. 5) Sugar Beach is great (snorkeling some of the best on the island) however when Pius drops you off you will need to go to he far side of the beach for chairs as the resort there will want to charge you $50 per chair otherwise (rip-off). Also Blaze who sells fruit there is where you want to get your fresh fruit (amazing). There are some other amazing beaches (look at Fort Vieux area or North side). 6) Sulfur Springs Volcano is a nice trip but bring a bathing suit that you do not mind getting ruined as you cannot rinse the stink out of it and will need to toss. 7) Botanical Gardens are amazing. There's a fellow there that has an incredible herb garden that he gave us handfuls of a multitude of local herbs and we paid $5 for. All of which we used in cooking several chicken and fish dishes. 8) You must ask Mary to make her famous fish cakes. You will need dried salt fish, flour, hot sauce, parsley, rice, salt, pepper. These are to die for! 9) The gardens around the house have an amazing assortment of fresh fruit like lemons and grapefruit and oranges as well as fresh herbs. 10) No real issue with bugs as the breeze thru the house is constant and there is mosquito netting, but bring bug spray with Deet just in case. In Summary, loved the house, the island and the people and we would certainly come back again. All the best Scott & JoAnn"

  • Wow!! Loved this place!!

"From the beginning, connecting with the owner Sam and all his wonderful help and information right till our stay and beautiful manager Charmaine, we could not have been happier! What a cute, fully equipped Treehouse! Gorgeous open concept, huge airy balcony, and awesome gardens and plunge pool. Oh and the Piton beer :) We had Charmaine cook 3 nights for us and it was delish! Who knew, pizza with corn on it?! Charmaines a great cook and wonderful hostess. She comes by every morning to see to your needs. Miss you Charmaine! We walked everyday to Anse Chastenet or Anse Mamin beach. Great snorkelling, amazing classy beaches. No riffraff. We walked everyday there, took us about 15 mins to Anse Chastenet then another 10 mins to Anse Mamin which we liked even better because less people and more rugged. Snorkelling far better at Anse Chastenet though. Heading back to Treehouse exhausted me because it's uphill. After 3 days I said that's it so we had Clavie the taxi driver pick us up. I have ambulatory issues, my husband had no problems. We also walked into Soufriere a couple times for groceries without a problem, it's a good walk but again I got a taxi back cause uphill (worse hill then coming back from beach). The view from Treehouse is impeccable, we loved our stay! We never used the AC, it was perfect temp at night just using fan and only the odd mosquito. Stay here!"

  • Fantastic Vacation

"Our family stayed at La Batterie during the last week of June 2016. We had a wonderful vacation and the villa was a big part of it. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and the house itself is lovely and has a real island feel. When you walk in your eyes are immediately drawn to the incredible view of the water and the Pitons. Even after a week it was hard to believe how spectacular the view is. The pool is another amazing feature of this home. Our family enjoyed spending time at the pool so much that sometimes it was difficult pulling ourselves away to go explore the island. The setting is so lush and peaceful, you could not help but feel completely relaxed. The house's staff were terrific- Stephanie, Marilyn, Clavie, Terry and BK were all friendly and helpful and really seem to care about making their guests' stay comfortable and enjoyable. We highly recommend having Stephanie cook at least a few meals - she is a great cook and prepares excellent local food. Its also a big help to be able to have Stephanie buy groceries for the home. Together Stephanie and Marilyn kept the house spotless. Having Clavie as a driver was a great experience. He was always responsive and available, and freely shared his knowledge about the island. BK the night watchman always greeted us with a smile when he came for his shift, and always made sure to check on us to see if we were doing ok or needed anything. If you enjoy nature hikes, we would definitely recommend having Terry the gardener take you on a rain forest hike. Terry has a wealth of knowledge about the local vegetation and the various fruits and vegetables and spices that can be found there. Plus, it's really good exercise! The house is well situated in Soufriere. The beach at Anse Chastenet is about a 10 minute walk downhill ( be aware though that the walk back uphill is quite steep.) The beach itself is small but lovely, and the restaurant that is part of the resort is very good. If you're looking at any organized tours, you'll notice that most of them spend much of their time at the attractions in and around Soufriere. Finally, Mike and Jennifer, the owners of the home, were great to work with. They stay in touch with you in the weeks leading up to your trip to help you plan, and are extremely open and responsive to questions. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our vacation and with our stay at La Batterie."

  • Wonderful place!!!

"We just got back from 12 days in St Lucia. We stayed at the Hermitage Cottage and had a fabulous time. The view and the place are spectacular. Not disappointed, this place is as described and pictured. We felt right at home and enjoyed every minute. Read all the reviews because if you are expecting air conditioning you will not have that. It might get a little warm but was not a problem. It is centrally located to the best part of the island and the beaches. We drove every where on the island and think this was the best! Thanks to all for a wonderful vacation."
