  • Private Paradise Part II

"We found St. Lucia & Cashew Villa BETTER the second time! Cashew is an excellent choice for a private spot near Soufriere and the Pitons. It is private, quiet overlooking the Sea and offers the most jaw-dropping view of the Pitons around! The outdoor setting/landscape is gorgeous, colorful and tropical. The unobstructed views out to ocean and pitons command you stop, pause, and be grateful in awe and wonder several times daily! The house is clean, furnished and stocked with all the essentials and overall comfortable. Windows /doors are open, outside creature noises come and go throughout the night. The home is a great base for adventures. You definitely need a car. The narrow, bumpy, winding dirt road leading up to the home is awful but manageable. It’s a good idea to plan your trips to/from the home well since it takes effort. The walk down to Anse Chastanet beach is great! Not highly traveled. (approx. 20 min. down/35 up) We are athletic, and ritualized daily walk/run down. There are many well maintained and marked trails through the lush vegetation once you reach the 2nd beach. We liked hiking down, running the trails and trying to run up to the house and jump in the pool! The water at Anse Chastanet is not a clear light blue/turquoise, rather a deep jade. The sand a grayish brown, beach, quiet, clean, pristine, un-crowded. Sugar Beach is our favorite. Fabulous snorkeling, exotic setting between the pitons and the restaurant has an, exquisite ambiance for lunch. If you love nature, less crowds and being immersed in the tropics, this part of the Island is for you! You can hike in the rainforest or up Gros Piton in the morning, go to a non-commercial exotic beach in the afternoon, relax in cashew’s lounge chairs/pool, dine at incredible restaurants & star gaze! We ventured up north for a day-Disappointment-Completely different! However it was rewarding to see more of the island. Berthia is wonderful! She leaves dinner on arrival, & breakfast. She takes her job seriously & is available to help anytime with anything/everything . We had issues with the water supply not being available-she immediately came to the rescue. Alvin, is great! Super friendly and eager to shell out advice on adventures or fix any problems. Take Alvin’s advice-he is spot on. Only negative- the pool had a massive leak, only half-full-Still usable, just not as inviting or pretty. If the pool is a big point, check to be sure it is fixed."

  • mid Feb vacation

"We really enjoyed our St Lucia vacation! The house is well equipped and location is very convenient, a few minutes walk to the village/supermarkets/restaurants and 10 min walk to the beach. Raymona is nice person and always available to help. I would recommend this property with a good value/price ratio. Boris"

  • Beautiful house with an amazing view

"My family and I had the best time, in large part due to the accommodations at La Batterie. The spectacular views made for relaxing and peaceful mornings, coffee in hand (freshly roasted by one of the groundsmen). The people working at the house were so polite and helpful. We also used the cook on site, in which she prepared various delicious home cooked meals that made the trip that much sweeter. We spent much time at the nearby beach, which involved a moderately challenging hike, enjoying burgers at the resort restaurant, snorkeling, and relaxing. We used the house driver for any outside excursions during the day. Overall, it was one of the best vacations we have taken so far. It also comfortably housed my family of four and my in laws for one week. Thank you La Batterie for an amazing spring break vacation!"

  • Total relaxation

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Mango Cottage. The pictures reflect the property exactly. We were able to completely relax here. The grocery store was literally a 5 minute walk one way, and the other way was a 5 minute walk to Reduit Beach. We were not harassed at all on the beach and spent most days there. The plunge pool on the property was so appreciated after the day at the beach. Chantal, the housekeeper, spoiled us immensely. We had her cook a traditional St.Lucian meal for us and it was so delicious, and we had 2 more dinners worth of food! So worth the money. So ask her to prepare this lovely meal early on in your stay. Definitely bring ear plugs, as others have suggested. The neighbouring dogs bark non stop randomly, with no rhyme or reason to the night, and when they are barking it is all night long. We used ear plugs a couple nights and were pleased we brought them. We were not pleased that the safe was not useable. We always travel with our passports and other valuables and money within the safe. We asked several times about this but never received a solution. We did not have access to any mobile phone as outlined, and when questioned about it the next we knew that mobile phone had been removed. Also the BBQ that we were informed about was non existent. It is a very charming place to unwind. We didn't mind how rustic it was, and suited us beautifully."
