  • Wonderful holiday in St. Lucia!

"We stayed at Matthew & Shernelle's suite for over 3 weeks, January 2017. They were very accommodating, took us to get groceries, brought us a meal the first day we arrived, gave us great advise on the Island and they also gave us appropriate privacy. The property is set into a ridge on top of a hill, overlooking the east side of the Island, Atlantic ocean with views of a beach. The homeowners live on top floor, we had an apartment on second level down, 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen fully equipped, living room and balcony to watch the ocean views. The concrete construction of this beautiful home made it soundproof. Parking spot available and a car is necessary to get to any beach, groceries, restaurants or nightlife. As seniors we wanted a quiet holiday and it met our expectations. We would stay here again."

  • Excellent except for directions/customs issue

"The directions from the main airport are on the homeaway website. However, they are not adequate. With four people, we did all we could to decipher where the house was, and it was very difficult. It describes looking for a green wrought iron fence that does not exist (or isn't green, anyway). It had us take the wrong exit on a rotary (we double-checked) and they are poorly spelled out. They absolutely need to be changed. Get your own directions in the meantime before going. Also, beware that you need the address of the villa (saying a villa in the town name is not enough) to put on your customs card when entering St. Lucia. Because there is no specific address on the website (and no warning that one would be necessary in customs, which they absolutely should warn their renters about), it created a long annoying hassle after a long flight. This should not have been the case. It would take minimal effort to prepare renters on this issue. Aside from the above, the place was fantastic and the service was excellent. It is as advertised and seen in the pictures and kept in excellent shape. Excellent location overlooking a fantastic beach. Any questions we had were answered immediately by Leslie. We needed a key to the laundry room, which was over moments after the request, as was a blender. The propane on the grill was empty, though I sent an email to Leslie and it was replaced before we got back from the beach. The main bedroom has a gorgeous view and balcony. The pool is cold, but I quite enjoyed it. The beach at the bottom of the hill is not busy and is absolutely gorgeous. Warm, beautiful water, and soft sand with no rocks. Also, a great couple of shacks for good food and drinks. Also close to great fishing charters (I would recommend Hackshaw's) if that's your thing. As others have noted, there is an airport right near the villa. It has regular supply flights coming and going through the day. It wasn't terrible, but was annoying at times when we were all out on the balcony in the evening and would drone on for some time. Without that issue, this is a 5 star review, for sure. I would rent this place again and highly recommend it."

  • Excellent accomodation with a million dollars view

"During the last few years, we've been holidaying around the Caribbean and stayed in similar type of accommodation. We can wholeheartedly say that Cashew Villa is one of the best places we stayed in. Having your coffee in the morning (or a beer if you like) by the pool overlooking the Pitons is something that will stay with you for the rest of your life. The villa is located in one of the most beautiful parts of St. Lucia, the view is amazing and you will have plenty of beaches and snorkeling places around. It has everything you need but even if you want something on top of that you can count on Berthia or Alvin to assist. Part of its beauty is the fact that the villa is surrounded by the rain forest and the sound of nature (tree frogs, cicadas, etc.) during the night time is amazing. After a day of snorkeling they didn't bother us but if you're a light sleeper you should bring some earplugs. If you are spending the evening time outside on the terrace, don’t forget to turn off the lights inside or close the doors/windows as insects will be attracted by the lights. The only minor problem we had was finding the place, partly because the directions provided were quite basic, partly because after a long haul flight our orientation skills were not at their best. Some road signs on the last part of the road would have made it a lot easier for us. All in all, this is a five star place in our books and we'll definitely be back in the future."
