  • Perfect Vacation

"We spent 9 days in paradise at the end of February, the house was fully equipped, clean, spacious and in a perfect location on the island. The beach close to the house (2 minutes walk) was perfect for swimming and snorkeling, our 7yrs old enjoyed it a lot. Using the golf cart during our stay really added lots of fun to our trip. The main street with the restaurants was not too far and the many groceries on the island were very convenient. There are several very nice beaches close by where we were alone most of the time, we really felt at some point we actually rented an island on our own. We have traveled to many places around the world and this trip was certainly the most relaxing and safest trip we did. Scott and Jane were really prompt to answer any questions we would have and Joab helped us with any logistics. Very friendly and fun he added to an already amazing vacation. I would recommend this place anytime as we had such a great experience, the House really had everything (even a nice BBQ to grill your catch of the day :) ). Thanks a lot Scott, Jane and Joab for this unforgettable stay and if we come back to Grand Turk We would certainly love to come back to your place. Cheers. Roger Nadia and Zahia"

  • Comforts of home, but in paradise!

"We enjoyed our 12 night stay at The Charming House immensely, and it was the ideal home base for our daily explorations. The house, like Salt Cay itself, is utterly serene and Charles is the ultimate invisible host. Perhaps because he lives there himself for part of the year, the house feels nothing like a rental. It's more like being invited to stay at someone's very special home whilst they are away. The kitchen is extremely well appointed. As we went in the off-season and were unsure of how many of the island's restaurants and grocery stores would be open, we brought quite a bit of food with us. You need next to nothing for clothing on Salt Cay, so we used quite a bit of the 50 lb luggage allowance per person for food. I am very glad we did, because fresh supplies are hard to come by on an island like this, and only one restaurant was open for business. We used Dickinson's grocery store for eggs, butter, milk (they understandably sell only shelf-stable milk), and some little goodies like peanut M&M's and Flav-O-Ice popsicles, but do not expect to find anything else fresh. As promised, there are two bikes available for use, but as we are a family of 4 (two adults, two teenagers) we fully expected to have to rent a golf cart to get to places like the North Beach. Fortunately, we found a couple of older bikes in the shed which my husband managed to resurrect. Other reviewers had warned about frequent flat tires due to the rocky paths and thorns from the bushes that grow all over the island, so we tried to be mindful not to stray far from the main roads, and the bikes held up quite well. Keens or Tevas are the ideal footwear for exploring the island - in and out of the water - especially for places like the South Creek. Debbie, who manages the house and owns/runs the Dive Shop and Island Bistro, was invaluable, and Richard was a wonderful dive instructor for first time divers like us. Everyone that we encountered on the island was incredibly friendly, warm, and welcoming. That said, Salt Cay is for explorers, adventurous spirits, nature lovers, and people who are willing to work a bit to uncover the island's treasures. Snorkeling, diving, beach combing, swimming, birds, donkeys, crystal clear waters, and STARS! If this is you, Salt Cay will blow your mind. It is not a good choice for anyone who needs the kind of holiday where everything comes to you and everything is easy. Stick to Provo for that."

  • Heaven on Earth

"We were fortunate enough to stay here for a week. Dawna & Pierre have thought of everything so you don't have to! The place is so well appointed with everything you could need but even more importantly, there's nothing that you don't need. This leaves you to savor and celebrate all the simple things in life with gratitude and joy. I can almost still hear the reassuring rhythm of the tides and feel the happy rhythm of this gem of an island. It's like a reset button for your soul. We are returning home refreshed, restored and ready to continue our lives with a little more spring in our step just knowing that Reef House exists and that we could come back when we need to. It's quite literally our new "Happy Place". Thanks Dawna, Pierre, their friends, their special dogs, and our "neighbors" for such a great time!"

  • A wonderful family Christmas holiday

"A beautiful location steps across the beach to the ocean. The three cottages are on a relatively sparsely populated part of the beach within easy walking to shops and hotels. Each has two bedrooms and the three easily sleep eight to twelve. They are tastefully decorated, comfortable, clean and excellently equipped for families who like to cook. The sea was turquoise on calm days, absolutely perfect with great visibility. Even on windy days swimming was always fun. There is new coral growth on part of the reef and some good snorkeling. This visit had a little more rain than previously, usually at night or early morning which meant our breakfasts were accompanied by rainbows."
