"My over-riding impression upon arriving at Sugar Bay House is that it is in a perfect spot, with a magnificent view all around it and that the accommodations are really relaxing and comfortable.
So let's deconstruct that sentence.
Firstly - The perfect spot.
Sugar Bay House is situated on the top of a small hill overlooking Salt River Bay on the North Shore. We drove around this wonderful island and we thought that the Salt River area was the most interesting, beautiful and quiet place upon the island. There are a few houses nearby, so it's quiet. The Salt River area, has an interesting little Marina, through which I walked nearly every day. There are interesting boats and people there and I ended up getting to know of few of them a little.
Its an easy walk down the hill from the house to the little beach or Marina, but a little more effort is needed to get back up again, but it's worth it. The nearby beach was good for swimming and lazing. Everywhere you look around the house from the terrace and during the walk down to the beach is full of colorful flowers growing on bushes everywhere.
It's really easy to get around St. Croix to visit all the great beaches which are never far away. Most had a beach bar on them, white sand and clear turquoise water. Some of the roads on the island are a little rough though, so you might want to rent an SUV. We didn't, we had a small fiesta which was fine but sometimes not quite fit for purpose, especially around the rain forest.
So now to the second point - the view.
I spent so much time sitting on a bench under a covered table at the corner of the deck just looking at the view; it's stunning and it's interesting. I watched the boats coming to and fro and even 2 getting wrecked in a squall one weekend. You can see for miles in many directions. Sea planes flew over head, birds dropped by for a chat and even an iguana dropped by to bury some of her eggs. I was there everyday for many hours, during the mornings, days and especially at night - all right I couldn't see much then , but still loved it. There was always a gentle breeze blowing by, that was cooling on a hot day, but never cold.I think it's sitting at that table that I miss most as I look back to those heavenly two weeks there.
The Pool was great and actually deep enough to dive in and long enough to swim lengths.
Now the third point - the comfortable house.
To be honest, I wasn't in the house too much but when I was, I was asleep in a comfortable bed with all th"
