  • Great House

"Very clean. Newly renovated with good taste. kitchen fully equipped with everything a cook could want. Love the private bathrooms (2) off of each bedroom. Very nice private outdoor shower surrounded by natural plants in one of the bathrooms. Our texts to our hosts were answered within 5 minutes. Hosts very nice and very helpful. Because our very cool host lives downstairs, we felt very secure in leaving our stuff behind while we went snorkeling at a different site every day. Fabulous deck with beautiful views of the bay. Ate breakfast & supper outside every day on the deck. (Lunch on the beach.) It was nice to have Netflix at the end of every very busy day. This house & Coral Bay is exactly what we were looking for. So many beaches on St. John & none of them far away. Heaven!"

  • Great Property

"I can't speak highly enough about this property. The property manager, Gwen, was beyond helpful and friendly on the day of our arrival. The house, a 2 bedroom/2 bath house located at the top of Bordeaux Mountain overlooking Coral Bay and Tortola was more than we could have asked for. The view is better in person. We especially appreciated that there were beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler for our days exploring St. John. The hot tub was hot, clean, and in working order. While there was AC in both bedrooms, we never turned it on. The kitchen had lots of plates, glasses, silverware, cookware, etc. Is the drive to the the villa steep? Yes, but it's paved and perfectly safe. The location is secluded giving you complete privacy. We like being on the Coral Bay side of the island. What you don't notice from the pictures is the amazing wood trim and beams throughout the property. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property, and you can tell that the owners take pride in what they've built."

  • A nice family getaway

"My husband, my daughter, and I stayed in Tree Frog for a week. Pros: The owner and property manager were helpful and easy to communicate with, and the property was as described in the listing. Furnishings are nice and in good shape, attractive decor and good layout. We specifically wanted a place with an indoor vs outdoor staircase since we were traveling with a child- didn't want her traipsing around outside without us if we slept on different floors, and it was perfect. Downstairs bedroom is spacious, and the bed is comfortable. There are lots of beach supplies available for renters to use: several Tommy Bahama beach chairs (the best kind!), coolers, sand toys, etc. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals and cocktails. There were also plenty of extra towels and linens if we needed them, also well-stocked toilet paper and paper towels as well as some bathroom items. We appreciated that some of the pantry and toiletry items are left behind from other guests, like condiments, extra sunblock, bug spray, etc. (We've stayed at places where there was NOTHING!) Lots of privacy- no visible neighbors, no noise other than the sounds of nature. Nice view from upstairs balcony- it was cool to watch the birds during the day and especially cool to watch the bats at dusk. Cons: the drive really is rough. It is not for the inexperienced USVI driver. We didn't mind too much because we planned on eating dinner at the cottage every night anyway, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone who plans to eat/drink out then return after dark. We did use the AC downstairs in the bedroom every night... we did not find that the breezes cooled the place enough for the July heat. The patio door opening upstairs lacks a screen, so with it open, the breezes come in, but so do the mosquitoes. Our daughter ended up sleeping downstairs too. There is an AC unit upstairs too, but it didn't seem to do the trick just to cool the place at night. The bathroom was damp and hot 24/7, which came with a gross smell. The towels all smelled a little mildewy. We visit St. John a lot and so we've come to expect these things (you will find the same if not worse at other villas in this price range- TRUST ME!); I only mention it for those who are unfamiliar with St. John rentals. I've heard it's cooler and the AC is not needed at other times of the year, but we've found we need it when we come in late June or July. We enjoyed our trip, and staying at Tree Frog was a good experience."

  • Wonderful vacation spot

"We loved our stay at Bella Vista. Yep, you'll need the four-wheel drive rental; the last quarter mile is pretty bumpy, but the end of the road is a peaceful, lovely spot. The apartment is charmingly decorated with a full kitchen, screened living area, comfy bedroom, and nice bathroom. It's very quiet; we could hardly believe that four people and a dog were above. We rarely heard a sound from upstairs. The place is very solidly built. Everything that we needed for our beach excursions was in a handy closet. Mark and Annie provided a notebook with suggestions for local restaurants, great hikes, and beautiful snorkeling spots. We went to beaches all over the island but mostly stayed on the Coral Bay side which had all the restaurants we needed and much quieter beaches. We found that we were often the only ones on the beach or there were only a handful of other people. It was really perfect for us because we prefer quieter places with lots of nature and off the beaten path. If you did want more activity, Cruz Bay was about 20 minutes away. It just wasn't our style. We would go back in a heart beat and are already dreaming about next year. My favorite restaurant was Miss Lucy's for the food and the view. My husband's was Aqua Bistro for the food. We ate at both restaurants several times. Our favorite snorkeling spot was the north side of Haulover, which is not one of the beaches listed in the book. Nonetheless, within ten feet of the shore you felt like you were in a tropical aquarium and we saw more lavender fans, brain corals, and even rays and turtles there. We also thought the beach next to Yowzi Point was gorgeous, although the snorkeling wasn't as great as promised there. Probably just an off day. Book your trip. You won't regret it."
