  • A nice family getaway

"My husband, my daughter, and I stayed in Tree Frog for a week. Pros: The owner and property manager were helpful and easy to communicate with, and the property was as described in the listing. Furnishings are nice and in good shape, attractive decor and good layout. We specifically wanted a place with an indoor vs outdoor staircase since we were traveling with a child- didn't want her traipsing around outside without us if we slept on different floors, and it was perfect. Downstairs bedroom is spacious, and the bed is comfortable. There are lots of beach supplies available for renters to use: several Tommy Bahama beach chairs (the best kind!), coolers, sand toys, etc. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals and cocktails. There were also plenty of extra towels and linens if we needed them, also well-stocked toilet paper and paper towels as well as some bathroom items. We appreciated that some of the pantry and toiletry items are left behind from other guests, like condiments, extra sunblock, bug spray, etc. (We've stayed at places where there was NOTHING!) Lots of privacy- no visible neighbors, no noise other than the sounds of nature. Nice view from upstairs balcony- it was cool to watch the birds during the day and especially cool to watch the bats at dusk. Cons: the drive really is rough. It is not for the inexperienced USVI driver. We didn't mind too much because we planned on eating dinner at the cottage every night anyway, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone who plans to eat/drink out then return after dark. We did use the AC downstairs in the bedroom every night... we did not find that the breezes cooled the place enough for the July heat. The patio door opening upstairs lacks a screen, so with it open, the breezes come in, but so do the mosquitoes. Our daughter ended up sleeping downstairs too. There is an AC unit upstairs too, but it didn't seem to do the trick just to cool the place at night. The bathroom was damp and hot 24/7, which came with a gross smell. The towels all smelled a little mildewy. We visit St. John a lot and so we've come to expect these things (you will find the same if not worse at other villas in this price range- TRUST ME!); I only mention it for those who are unfamiliar with St. John rentals. I've heard it's cooler and the AC is not needed at other times of the year, but we've found we need it when we come in late June or July. We enjoyed our trip, and staying at Tree Frog was a good experience."

  • Beautiful home over looking the water

"We so enjoyed staying at your beautiful home. Really loved the level parking area. The home itself was really clean. We had iguana visiting us everyday which was really neat. Got some really great pictures of them and the beautiful clear water below. Even saw a shark. Loved being over the water. And having the little grocery store and a place to rent snorkel gear just a minute down the road. Skinny Legs and Shipwreck Landing restaurants were great and right there by the house. We did a lot of grilling at the house and enjoyed eating on the deck watching the sunset. I particularly enjoyed the sunrises every morning between 5 and 530 sitting outside or laying in the hammock watching the day come in. We went out on a snorkel sunset sail with Kiote sails. (Right here in Coral Bay by Skinny Legs). That was such a great time. After that Jimmy the captain would sound his horn every time he would go out again and give us a wave. Enjoyed Maho Beach a lot (great beach for seeing the Sea Turtles) and also visited Little Lamshure Bay and Salt Pond (brought back our own natural sea salt to cook with) plus went out on the Kekoa Catamaran in Cruz Bay. Enjoyed everything! Thanks again so much for opening up your home for us to enjoy. Absolutely enjoyed and so glad we chose Cliffhanger as our vacation spot. Its location is ideal for peace and quiet but within minutes of things you need. One thing worth mentioning. Rent a Jeep on St John if you really want to enjoy seeing the island. You will need it for the steep hills and sharp curves."

  • Peaceful, serene getaway

"My husband and I vacationed at Lagoon Point for one amazing week in July with two very dear relatives. The hilly location was lovely; the 180-degree view from the balcony was incredible--watching the sunrises and sunsets over Coral Bay with the island of Tortola in the distance was divine. There is no AC in the dwelling, but there are constant, cooling Tradewinds, so it is not a necessity. With the screened windows and sliding glass doors kept open (and ceiling fans running if desired), we were always comfortable. One thing we found quaint, charming and unique was the screened-in indoor/outdoor shower attached to the restroom. Loved it! The kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes, utensils and cookware -- next time we visit, however, we will bring a pot scraper/spatula, as that was missing. We ate all our meals at home--brought a fair portion of the non-fresh food with us, as we knew food in the islands is 2-2.5 X the price we'd pay stateside. There is plenty to do on the island; we rented a vehicle on St John and enjoyed exploring. There are numerous snorkeling destinations; recommend either bringing your own gear or renting from Crabby's, about a mile from the house. There are a few sets of fins and a leaky mask/snorkel in one of the closets--and several beach chairs if you want to use them! It was not really the season to hike (warm during the day), but there are a lot of hiking trails to enjoy if your visit is in the fall/winter/spring seasons. In summary, our stay was fantastic--the home was perfect for us, and we look forward to another vacation stay at Lagoon Point!"

  • The Hortons

"Well, another great stay on St.Johns at Villa Mahr. This was our second 2 week stay (we were here about the same time in 2014). We really can't say enough about this home and its owners. The house was in great shape and very comfortable to live in for 2 weeks- clean and well kept. The pool was refreshing and you just never get tired of the beautiful beach's on the island. We hiked to some of the more remote spots on the island this time and experienced some great beach's and views. The view from the porch at the house never gets old. Just an all around great trip. Scott rented us the 4 door pick up truck this trip and that worked out great. The rental has 2 glass bottom 2 man kayaks and they fit on the truck rack. We took them everyday we went to the beach- did some great paddling around the beautiful bays. compliments of the owner. If you are looking for a great place to stay while you enjoy all St johns has to offer - you will not be disappointed with this rental. CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK"
