  • Wow! Beyond expectations!

"Overly impressed! Very clean, perfect size, AC worked amazing, and everything you need was stocked there, down to have a small cooler and beach chairs even. Mini kitchen was great, back patio with grill, etc. I have stayed on STJ many times but this place, by far, is the best value for the money. Thank you for a great stay and next time we come it will be here! Thanks again!"

  • A hidden gem on St John!!

"This home is the best place to stay on St John! I almost hate to spread the word so we can keep it as our own little secret. We have been vacationing on St john for over a decade. We have stayed in many homes and know the island well. This is home is a hidden gem. The pictures dont do it justice. You get everything you want, and for a fair price. It does not have a pool but we are here for the beaches anyway!!!..the hot tub is far better to have, and this home has a extra large one! Everything is very clean, safe and works!! (hard to find!) The wireless didn't go out once!! (if you are not familiar, it happens often on islands) It is nicely furnished and very comfortable. The BBQ is big, on the newer side, and very clean. The views are spectacular, the porch is huge and the breezes are perfect (no bugs thanks to the breeze....awesome!!) The hot tub is a spectacular way to unwind after a long day...and watch the gorgeous sunsets with a glass of wine :) The "outside" shower is awesome, main floor bathroom is big enough for two or more people at the same time, and it is so nice to have your own washer and dryer! You can cab to town easily from this location for those "nights on the town". It also has a bedroom/bath on the main floor for those that dont like stairs. Honestly, you can't get better. We can't wait to come back again. Thank you Pete!"

  • Best Deal on St. John

"This cottage was perfect for me, & I wish I'd stayed longer rather than doing half of my trip at other places. It was SUCH a great deal compared to the other places on St. John, & had everything I needed. Marc bought me a bag of groceries when I arrived, which was SO kind & unexpected! There were also fancy, unexpected touches like bougainvilla bouquets & fancy folding on the towels & toilet paper, like you'd see in a resort. It took me 10 minutes to drive into Cruz Bay. There was a cute frog who came to visit me outside the cottage, & I loved the jungle noises at night. If you don't mind an outdoor shower (buggy) & occasional bugs in the house, this place is perfect. I appreciated having a closet with plenty of hangers, & 2 bathrooms. It was nice staying a bit outside of the busy town, & Marc gave me total privacy even though the cottage sits on his property just feet away. I highly recommend Sol Cottage!"

  • Fantastic Stay

"We had a group of 8 (7 adults and a 12 year old). The house was just as described and was very clean. There was plenty of room for the 8 of us. The deck is large and the view is amazing. The kitchen was equipped with the all the necessities. The water comes from a cistern so you cannot use it for drinking or making coffee. Stock up on gallons of bottled water. Teeth brushing with it is fine. The water wasn't a big deal at all. Dawn was very responsive from when we first booked until when we left. She was friendly, informative and quick to respond. Like most houses on the island, there is only air conditioning in the 2 bedrooms. There are plenty of screen sliding doors for a good cross breeze. The loft rooms have windows, ceiling fans and extra floor fans to keep cool. The loft would not be ideal for smaller children. The stairs are steep and you have to use caution. Once up in the lofts, they are very roomy. We ended up moving our son into the master bedroom with us. We just took a twin mattress from the loft and put it on the bedroom floor. If you have younger ones, you can probably fit 2 twins on the floor of each master. There are two full baths but they are in each of the master bedrooms, so anyone not in a master must come through to use them. None of this was a big deal but just wanted to make note of it. If you go to the beach there are tons of items available at the house for you: beach chairs, coolers, some snorkeling gear, sand buckets, toys and beach towels. The house really had everything we needed. The internet worked pretty well. If it was cloudy or the wind was blowing a little hard, you could have a hard time getting service for a little bit. Nothing to do with the service at the house...just how it goes on the island in general. Everything was very nice and we made a lot of great memories. We were with someone who used to live on the island so we did a lot of traveling around the island, but Dawn will give you tons of ideas if you have never been there before. There are many amazing beaches. The only caution are the roads. They drive on the left and the roads are very narrow, go up, down and around. Many driveways and some roads are pretty steep at times so get a vehicle with 4 wheel drive if possible. The driveway at this house is also steep, but we ended up parking towards the top since we had a mini van. No way it would make it up and down. We just improvised, but you do a lot of that with island living."
