  • Beautiful stay in beautiful St John

"The house is very comfortable and spacious; the views are truly AMAZING. I've visited St John two times before and the view from the house gave me a whole new perspective on the island. One of the days it was so clear we could see St. Croix. What you should know about the house: Bed is comfortable, furnishings including kitchen gear are a little dated/worn, full size washer/dryer (awesome), a stereo system with speakers throughout the house (cool) and wraparound porch with BBQ, lounge chairs and hammock are the best for relaxing or entertaining guests (we did both). We walked to the rental about half our stay (VERY steep and a pretty taxing climb - I don't recommend it unless you really want a challenge), and the rest of the time rented a Jeep through L&L. Best day trip was to Coral Bay! But then again, there are no bad beaches to be found, each is beautiful in its own way. We especially liked Maho for snorkeling because of the variety (turtles/rays in the middle of the grassy area, and beautiful, colorful fish on the rocky shore side.) If you want to be pampered, spend an afternoon at Caneel Bay, it's a very family friendly bay for swimming, with sea turtles, afterwards have drinks, lunch or dinner beachside - the only beach in St. John with a swimmable beachside restaurant."

  • Great Stay

"We have been to St John at least a dozen times. We like the Coral Bay area as it is less hectic . We usually rent a villa on top of Beaurodeau Mountain for the views and breezes. With that being said we opted for a location on this trip that was a little closer to the water. The villa is a advertised. Being at a lower elevation allowed us to get to Coral Bay and the East End beaches faster. Also the Salt Pond area is easier to get to. But, being at a lower elevation does make it harder to enjoy the inside of the villa due to temperatures. The master bedroom does not really cool down as it has very high ceilings and a louvered door to the great room. Not sure what they were thinking with that. The lower two bedrooms are fine. The great room was usually too warm to sit during the day and it was still hot into the evening. This is not a real problem as there are great areas outside around the pool to relax. I would have given the villa 5 stars but with the issue stated above coupled with a rocky rutted dirt road leading to the villa I had to give it 4. Just be aware that many villas in the Coral Bay area do have dirt roads. Some can be much worse than the one to Secret Seashell. It did get a little old rocking over the pot holes and rocky sections. All in all a great trip."

  • Exactly as advertised!

"We recently returned home from a two week stay in the upper floor 2 BR villa. This accommodation was perfect for our family, two adults and two young children (5 and 18 months). The pool and deck, with a fabulous sunset view, were great for us and the kids after mornings spent at the beach. The baby could nap, while we still enjoyed the outside. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. There were beach chairs, coolers and toys available for beach trips. The location was convenient to town and north shore beaches, as well as exploring Coral Bay. The bedrooms are split on either side of the living room, so it would also be a great place for two couples to share. When you take the time to compare prices, this property is a fantastic value. We highly recommend it! Can't wait to go back. Special thanks to James for being so accommodating and easy to work with."
