  • BEYOND WONDERFUL!

"We loved staying here at Stowaway! This was our first time in St Johns and the comfort and the charm of the property made it a wonderful place to hang your hat after busy days and nights exploring the island. The property was very well stocked! We did a few dinners at home and it was a nice break to the pricey meals in some of the restaurants! Having all the beach chairs, towels , and the cooler was a blessing! We checked out a new beach every day. We were able to pack sandwiches, snacks and drinks which helped keep the budget down! Stowaway was very convenient! We would absolutely come back and hope that it will be sooner then later! Thanks to Georgia, David and Marcia! You were wonderful hosts! Paul, Beth Ann, Jenna and Sammi"

  • A Comfy Secluded Getaway

"My boyfriend and I, joined by another couple, had a fabulous week together at Periwinkle! As soon as we walked in the front door we were taken aback by the views and the wonderful space the owners have created. The photos really do not do this place justice. The cottage has an amazing atmosphere: it is tranquil, bright, spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. GETTING THERE: The cottage is located in a quiet, remote area up in the hills overlooking Coral Harbor. It’s about a 30-minute drive from the ferry dock (there are two possible routes). INSIDE THE COTTAGE: The owners have provided all of the things you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday (coolers, beach chairs, mosquito spray, soaps, plenty of towels, spices etc.) Sally, the next-door neighbor toured us around the house when we arrived. She is a wonderful lady! There are two en suite bedrooms identical in size (one with air conditioning and one without), and the decor is bright and cheerful in each. I woke up to the sunset coming over the bay every morning and it was wonderful. The rooms are detached from the living/kitchen area, which is nice because it provides some privacy. The pool is much bigger than it appears in the photos, and it’s quite cool (which is a welcome respite from the heat). Goats, donkeys, sheep, and cockerels inhabit the hills surrounding the cottage and their noises provide much amusement. If you are one of those people that needs air-conditioning and can’t handle wildlife this in not the place for you. This Island has ALLOT of mosquitos. We are all covered in bites. Periwinkle is not treated, and you will leave with a ton of itchy bites. THE VIEWS: AMAZING! Whether you are lying in the hammock upstairs or down by the pool the views are breathtaking! THE BEACHES: The beaches are not within walking distance, and they are quite far away (at least 10-15 minutes drive) so you will need to rent a Jeep. NEARBY: There are two grocer/corner shops nearby: Love City and Lily's Gourmet Market. Both are within walking distance (if you like a good hike up the hill). There are also a few restaurants, shops, a post office and water sports within walking distance at Cocoloba Shopping Center. PERFECT DAY: Hike Bordeaux Mountain Trail, get a spot of lunch at Chateaux Bordeaux (I recommend the Roti), head down to Cinnamon bay for an afternoon swim, and finish off with sundowners at Periwinkle in the pool."

  • Great Stay

"We have been to St John at least a dozen times. We like the Coral Bay area as it is less hectic . We usually rent a villa on top of Beaurodeau Mountain for the views and breezes. With that being said we opted for a location on this trip that was a little closer to the water. The villa is a advertised. Being at a lower elevation allowed us to get to Coral Bay and the East End beaches faster. Also the Salt Pond area is easier to get to. But, being at a lower elevation does make it harder to enjoy the inside of the villa due to temperatures. The master bedroom does not really cool down as it has very high ceilings and a louvered door to the great room. Not sure what they were thinking with that. The lower two bedrooms are fine. The great room was usually too warm to sit during the day and it was still hot into the evening. This is not a real problem as there are great areas outside around the pool to relax. I would have given the villa 5 stars but with the issue stated above coupled with a rocky rutted dirt road leading to the villa I had to give it 4. Just be aware that many villas in the Coral Bay area do have dirt roads. Some can be much worse than the one to Secret Seashell. It did get a little old rocking over the pot holes and rocky sections. All in all a great trip."

  • Perfect Escape

"My husband and I were so pleased with the studio and location, absolutely perfect for what we needed, and more! Highly recommend renting a jeep and exploring the island, well worth it! We took advantage of the grill a few nights as well which was a plus- dinner w/ our own view! Would definitely recommend for couples, small families and girls getaway. Thank you so much, Anna, for a wonderful vacation at Surfside!"
