  • A nice family getaway

"My husband, my daughter, and I stayed in Tree Frog for a week. Pros: The owner and property manager were helpful and easy to communicate with, and the property was as described in the listing. Furnishings are nice and in good shape, attractive decor and good layout. We specifically wanted a place with an indoor vs outdoor staircase since we were traveling with a child- didn't want her traipsing around outside without us if we slept on different floors, and it was perfect. Downstairs bedroom is spacious, and the bed is comfortable. There are lots of beach supplies available for renters to use: several Tommy Bahama beach chairs (the best kind!), coolers, sand toys, etc. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals and cocktails. There were also plenty of extra towels and linens if we needed them, also well-stocked toilet paper and paper towels as well as some bathroom items. We appreciated that some of the pantry and toiletry items are left behind from other guests, like condiments, extra sunblock, bug spray, etc. (We've stayed at places where there was NOTHING!) Lots of privacy- no visible neighbors, no noise other than the sounds of nature. Nice view from upstairs balcony- it was cool to watch the birds during the day and especially cool to watch the bats at dusk. Cons: the drive really is rough. It is not for the inexperienced USVI driver. We didn't mind too much because we planned on eating dinner at the cottage every night anyway, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone who plans to eat/drink out then return after dark. We did use the AC downstairs in the bedroom every night... we did not find that the breezes cooled the place enough for the July heat. The patio door opening upstairs lacks a screen, so with it open, the breezes come in, but so do the mosquitoes. Our daughter ended up sleeping downstairs too. There is an AC unit upstairs too, but it didn't seem to do the trick just to cool the place at night. The bathroom was damp and hot 24/7, which came with a gross smell. The towels all smelled a little mildewy. We visit St. John a lot and so we've come to expect these things (you will find the same if not worse at other villas in this price range- TRUST ME!); I only mention it for those who are unfamiliar with St. John rentals. I've heard it's cooler and the AC is not needed at other times of the year, but we've found we need it when we come in late June or July. We enjoyed our trip, and staying at Tree Frog was a good experience."

  • A magical place of serenity and beauty

"My husband and I, with two good friends, chose Ananda as our home for a week on St. John. Our stay there will pleasurably linger in memory. At the top of Mamey Peak in the U.S. National Park, the house is a wonder. There are first and second floor decks and balconies as well as a lookout for astounding views of the sea during the day and stars at night. The paintings in every room have been selected with care, a delightful mix of Caribbean color and Indian prints. The beautifully designed, large wooden house is surrounded by paths and gardens of colorful tropical flowers, plants of many textures and sizes, and orchids in full bloom sprouting from trees. Returning to the house after a day of swimming and snorkeling, you enter into a magical place of serenity and beauty. Since it’s near the center of the island, nothing is far away, which encourages exploration, and yet it’s very quiet, with no other houses in sight. On the front porch the hot tub awaits, and the trunk by the lovely butterflied front door is well equipped with snorkeling gear, beach chairs and a sun umbrella. As well as the two indoor bathrooms, there is an outdoor shower. Jennifer, one of the owners, made us feel so at home, and we’re grateful that she shares her blissful place with others seeking such a special retreat. Emily, the house manager, met us in St. John on our arrival, and we followed her up to the house in the dark. She could not have been more helpful with her recommendations and suggestions. To stay a week or more in this unique house is a bit like paradise, and we hope to return."

  • Beautiful views!

"This place has a great view from the deck, all of the interior is fresh and new. While the room and bathroom are very small, it accommodates a couple just fine. Make sure to bring earplugs for the roosters on the property. Lovely peacocks and adorable goats."

  • Tropical Blessings is Heaven!

"This was our second stay at Tropical Blessings and once again we were thrilled to have stayed here! The condo is beautifully furnished and the outdoor furniture and views are perfect. It is so nice to have a kitchen that is well stocked with spices, cookwear, etc.and the layout is very easy for multiple guests to work in. The bathrooms are spacious with new towels (plenty of them!) as well as soaps, shampoos, etc. are provided. The laundry room was equiped with detergent (tide) Bounce sheets and several nice beach towels for our use. The location is great if you want to walk to Cruz Bay and also close to Turner Bay for a stroll on the beach. We are already looking forward to the next time we can stay at Tropical Blessings!"
