  • Peaceful tree-house living

"Warning- if you don't like camping and nature, this is not the place for you! Now that that's out of the way, the Coral Bay eco retreat was freaking awesome!!! This peaceful, secluded, off the grid tree-house lands you 'far from the maddening crowd'. In staying, one experiences true off the grid living with solar power, a propane stove, indoor plumbing fed by captured rain water, and discharged into a septic. There is an indoor and outdoor shower that isn't heated, so be prepared for a cool shower... but in the hot sun it can be refreshing. If it's too cold for you, just heat some water on the stove to bathe with. Be prepared for critters to scurry about and bring bug spray.... again just like camping (or perhaps eco-glamping in this case). You also want to stock up on drinking water because it's too risky to drink rain water stored in unsealed containers. This tree house was relaxing and helped me reset my circadian rhythm that was so interrupted from my busy and hectic job a software engineer. My hubby is an env. scientist, so needless to say, we both were in heaven. We experienced multiple engagements with the bananaquints you can hand feed, humming birds, geckos, lizards, hawks, finches, millipedes, and even found a tarantula in its hole! Sleeping outside, under the stars in the mosquito net, and being naturally woke up with the sunrise was awesome. Thank you, Allison, for sharing your retreat with us!!"

  • Great stay

"This was our second trip to St. John. We really enjoy the east end of the island and how quiet it is. Susan was great. Gave us wonderful advise on shopping in St. Thomas prior to getting on the car barge. The house was just as expected. View better than expected. Enclosed porch is wonderful. Kitchen had basics: coffee filters, salt, pepper, ketchup, mayo, basic seasoning, Pam spray. Satellite cable worked well, internet was perfect. Had good AT&T reception whole time. Deposit was refunded very quickly. Would recommend to a friend."

  • Home Away From Home BUT In A Paradise Setting!

"Rhumb Runner is definitely home away from home BUT in a Paradise setting. We celebrated 40 years of wedding bliss - and it was! The house does not lack in amenities. The view of Coral Bay was spectacular and the morning sunrise was a nice way to ease into the day. Michael & Chris were very helpful and made our planning for this getaway stress free. The snorkeling was excellent - Maho Bay became our favorite - early morning with a picnic breakfast - not a better way to start the day. Then a dip in the pool back at the house to plan the rest of our day was refreshing. And a stop by the Nat'l Park Office in Cruz Bay to get all the details is a must. We would definitely recommend Rhumb Runner and hope to go back some day. P.S. But the cherry on the top was walking into the house the evening of Thanksgiving to find two plates of Thanksgiving Dinner and pumpkin pie with a nice bottle of wine waiting for us... talk about taking care of your guests above & beyond!!"

  • Perfect in every way

"My husband and I just returned from a 6 night stay in the Seaview guest room at St. John guest suites. It was perfect in every way. The room was ideal for 2 people and included everything you could possibly need for your vacation . Many mornings we cooked breakfast in the room and enjoyed the incredible view from our private patio. There was also 2 lounge chairs and a BBQ on our patio. Just a few steps up is the infinity pool and the outdoor kitchen. All guests of the 4 suites are free to use this but we never saw anyone else while we were out there. It was like our own private pool. The ice maker was a great touch to fill up our cooler before heading to the beach. We even used the washer and dryer a couple of times. We were also shown the beach chairs and floats which we could keep in our jeep all week. So handy not to have to load and unload every day. The cooler was also ours for the trip. Beth and her husband were. It on the Island while we were there but they left us in excellent hands with Chris and his wife Jen. There was even a welcome basket in the room with snacks and a bottle of rum. The bathroom came with soap, shampoo and body wash, another nice touch we appreciated. Everything about St John Guest suites was perfect , from the room to the view to the location to the property. We are already making plans to go back."
