  • Perfect vacation home for our family to spend a week in St John. We will definitely be back!

"Our family of 5 stayed at In The Stars for a week over April break (2016). We all loved it and could not have been happier. Owner - Felecia was very easy to work with and always responded promptly. We did not have any problems whatsoever and she was a pleasure to correspond with beginning to end. She arranged for the caretaker Nancy to meet us on the day of our arrival. She was on time, showed us to and around the property, and answered all questions. She was very friendly and made the transition from traveling to vacation that much easier and enjoyable. Amenities - Pack lightly you really do not need much. Plenty of coolers, beach towels, beach chairs, in room safe, dishwasher, washer dryer, ice maker etc. The kitchen is large and open and has everything you need. Location - We loved the location with easy access to anywhere you would want to go. It is 10 minutes to Coral Bay,10 minutes to the north shore beaches and about 20 minutes to Cruz Bay. Perfect spot with amazing views. Outdoor Space - beautiful decking with wide stairs leading to the upper level and steps down to the large pool area which has a gas grill and plenty of seating. Lots of nice plantings and very isolated from other properties. Roads in St John are very steep and many driveways are narrow without much space. In The Stars has tons of room for parking and turning your car around. The pool was a big hit with the kids and the outdoor area is a really nice space to grill, eat, and relax after a day at the beach. Again amazing views. Indoors - The pictures do not do the house justice. You walk in from the from the deck to a wide open great room with a large kitchen area and screened porch overlooking Coral Bay. The views are absolutely stunning. The house was immaculate. The bedrooms and baths are all spacious and well appointed. The beds are all comfortable and there was always a nice breeze which kept the house cool. Honestly we did not have one complaint - In The Stars felt like home the instant we walked through the front door. Truly a beautiful and well maintained property."

  • Excellent service and welcoming environment

"Even before we arrived, I had a great feeling about Island Abodes. Brittany/owner is an excellent host and emailed regularly. She was literally sitting outside waiting to greet us when we arrived. The Studio is exactly as described- very private, cozy and well equipped. It is a great bonus to have a small cooler, beach towels and chairs (plus pool noodles😁) Parking is only steps away. Exceptionally clean and comfortable bed with nice linens. We know the island well, so this is a good base from which to venture out. Those new to the island need to know this is not "walkable to sites"- you need a car. We would definitely recommend Island Abodes- you can trust these folks for honesty and helpful service."

"We spent seven glorious days and nights at Palm Ridge Villa and St. John but wish we had more time. Never having been to St. John, but travelled extensively to many beautiful island locations near and far, we found Palm Ridge Villa and St. John to be a heavenly island location close to home. From our arrival in Cruz Bay, we appreciated following the property manager to Palm Ridge Villa, and additionally, they so kindly left a welcome basket of food in case we would be too tired to venture out of the villa after arriving early evening. Since Palm Ridge Villa is high atop Upper Carolina Ridge, we were immediately aware of the spectacular views of the picturesque azure blue Coral Bay below and the verdant ridges touching the heavenly blue skies. We realized how special the private location of this villa was. The mature, flowering bushes and trees added to the beauty of this property considering it had only been completed in July 2016. The villa was beautifully designed and decorated, had comfortable modern furnishings, and had all the amenities we needed and more. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the deck every day and gazing at the scenery around us, including the bright sunrise-filled mornings over Coral Bay and orange colored sunsets over the ridge facing Cruz Bay. Floating in the comfortably heated infinity pool was refreshing during the day as well as providing a holiday feel since pool lights could be turned on and changed to different colors at night or be kept at one color. The observation deck was a special treat seeing a star-filled sky not affected by city lights. We enjoyed the sounds of nature as well as the short late night rains. We would have been happy just staying at the villa all week, but our adventuresome spirit and historical interests beckoned us to investigate St John’s beaches, bays and coves, and plantation ruins. Wonderful restaurants, such as the Indigo Grill, Skinny Legs, and Aqua Bistro are a short drive away as well as two well-stocked grocery stores. All of these did not disappoint, but only made us want to come back to St John and stay at Palm Ridge Villa again---but longer. We thank the owners of Palm Ridge Villa for sharing their beautiful villa and giving us the opportunity to stay there."

  • Surf Sound Cottage is Idyllic

"We just spent a week at Surf Sound Cottage and found it to be idyllic. The cottage sits up on a hill overlooking John's Folly Bay, near the southeastern tip of St. John and is 10 minutes or so south of Coral Bay. It is a very quiet location and area, and there is a fantastic view from the porch of Norman and Peter Islands and of the beautiful sunrise each morning. The great beach at Saltpond Bay is just a few minutes away, where there is good snorkeling (we saw turtles there) and a really good hike out to Ram's Head. It is also close to good snorkeling at the Lameshure Bays (especially the western part of Great Lameshure Bay) and at Kiddel Bay, which has some of the best coral (on the western side) we have seen in this part of the Caribbean in many years (it's a bit challenging to find and get to, but worth it; plug Kiddel Bay into Google Map) . It's only a twenty- to thirty-minute drive to the North Shore beaches, which are spectacular. There are good restaurants in Coral Bay, so we found no need to do the 30-minute drive to Cruz Bay, which is much more crowded than the Coral Bay area. Good National Park hiking trails are also nearby, but we didn't get the chance to try them because we spent all our time snorkeling. The owners are extremely hospitable, helpful and responsive. And they have provided everything you could possibly need for your stay in the cottage. This is a fantastic place, and we would definitely return. One cautionary note: you will definitely need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get up the driveway (as the owners' information piece will advise), and it is a challenge to negotiate the driveway because it is steep and takes a sharp turn half-way up. but we were able to deal with it without incident."
