  • Lovely place to stay on St. thomas

"The villa was even nicer than expected. The pictures don't do it justice."

  • Amazing, off-the-beaten-path, quiet and romantic spot!

"Initial Impression: Private, secluded, quiet and just wow. The photos on the site DO NOT do this place justice. The view is spectacular and the privacy is over the top. There's nobody around that is enjoying the view like this rental unit does. Just 20-30 feet below your deck the waves are crashing against the rocks (like, straight down). You can't imagine how secluded this place is until you get there. The space in the unit is fairly decent, but I advise you open the curtains to get the full effect and to feel a bit more spacious. The kitchen is well equipped and you can save a lot of money by cooking for yourselves. Thoughts as we settled in further: Wow, this is really private. Again, looking around at night or in the middle of the day - there is nobody to see. If you enjoy quiet time, this is the place for you. Read a book while hearing the surf, go snorkling without being disturbed... sunbath, take a mid-day nap... whatever! Oh, and the private beach? Yeah, it's a community style beach but nobody uses it! It's effectively a private beach just for you! Granted, it's not as "beach" feeling as Lindquist (our favorite) or Magens, but you don't have to drive to it and there's free parking. Getting critical: Okay, so there were a few things that we found odd, but it has nothing to do with the house so we're not going to let it change our 5 star rating. First, the walk down to the beach isn't for the easily deterred. Once you get to the bottom of the steps, you've got to follow the bungee cords to stay on path. It's a bit rustic, but you'll get there. Second, the craftmanship on the island (building maintenance and repairs) is lacking, as is evident everywhere you go where you see oddly handled repairs. Not sure if it's a budget thing, or if the locals just don't have the talent to do it properly. Thirdly, watch your belongings when touring the island. Take only what you need with you and keep an eye out. Other thoughts: Driving - Driving in Saint Thomas is trippy - but you get used to it. So many people said we needed a 4WD vehicle, but we went budget with a Nissan Versa and it was absolutely fine. We didn't feel limited at all. Granted, we didn't have much rain while we were there (and the road to the unit is dirt) so YMMV. Dining - Buy food and cook yourselves. We spent only $200 in food for a week and cooked all our meals (except the one time we went out and spent $95 for dinner and no dessert). Eat like royalty for cheap... Plaza Extra!"

  • An Authentic Island Experience!

"From the moment we booked the Christian Villa, I knew we were in the best of hands and that this vacation would be unique and incredibly special. When we pulled into the gates, our 4 children ages 25, 22, 22, and 14, just said, "Wow!"...The views are magnificent! The property is modernized with all conveniences you could want, but retains the charm of a true island family home that has been enjoyed for generations. Dr. Christian was in communication with us regularly after we reserved the villa, and wanted to make sure all our needs were met before, during and after our stay. She had juices, wine, soda and plenty of ice stocked in the fridge upon arrival. Her friends, Judith and Ricky, met us at the airport and we followed them in our rented van to the villa. They acclimated us to the island and led us to a grocery store where we could stock up. The beauty of this vacation vs. staying at a resort is that we had a large and beautiful home with our own pool, incredible views, and tremendous privacy. We had the local friends of Dr. Christian that we could call if needed during our stay. We explored at our own pace, ate out when we wanted to, and cooked at the villa when we wanted to. Every evening was spent on the patio enjoying the view and the breezes and just talking. No TV or computer screens (except for the kids picking the next song to play for all of us on their phones). Our kids looked forward to this time, even when we told them they could watch a movie or play a game instead. This time was priceless. The memories that are created in a home are always the most special. The beautiful nature of the house, the spectacular views, and the friendliness of Dr. Christian's friends made this a vacation that my family will remember forever."

  • Beautiful views, relaxing atmosphere...

"The house was as advertised--very spacious, plenty of room for us to all be there (group of 6) and yet not feel like we were crowding each other. The caretaker met us at the airport and led us back to the house. I was really glad he did, as my Verizon phone would not work on the island (AT&T and T-Mobile seem to work though). The roads take some getting used to--left side driving on winding, narrow mountain roads. The driveway to the house involves a very sharp turn, but can be managed with care (we had a mini-van and did it, but a jeep would be better). Of note: the kitchen is a separate building from the bedroom/livingroom house. The bathrooms are all attached to the bedrooms as well. The sun deck was really cool, but there were about 70+ steep rocky stairs to get down to it. The water was pretty rough too--if you want to get in, you have to navigate the surf and the rocks. I highly recommend planning to visit one or more of St. Thomas's peaceful beaches; the waves are gentle to non-existent, and the beaches are super clean and provide bathrooms. You do have to pay to get in--per person, and also for parking. We visited the Magen's Bay beach, but there are many others that are beautiful as well. Overall, great trip. BRING BUG SPRAY."
