  • Fantastic experience!

"Shane is a great host, adventure guide, skipper and cook! This charter was a first-time experience for most of us (3 couples) and it was fantastic. Shane has spent more than six years doing charters out of Red Hook, and he knows a lot of awesome spots that are only accessible by boat. Before we arrived, he emailed a questionnaire to help plan activities, meals, beer & wine, etc., stocked the boat according to that, and we simply reimbursed him. We had breakfast & lunch on the boat, and 3 dinners with a special "drink of the day." The other nights we all ate at restaurants. We spent a full week just sailing, snorkeling, hiking, relaxing; the women did morning yoga on the trampoline. Shane laid out lots of options, let us choose our destinations and joined in the hikes and snorkeling. And he was happy to involve us in the actual sailing, anchoring, etc., although he's used to managing the boat solo. The beaches on the north side of Tortola were closed because of big swells, and even the Drake Channel was a little rough, but Shane knows all the tricks to avoid seasickness. We were glad to be on a catamaran rather than a monohull, and we skipped the longer haul to Anagada (not much there anyway), spending more time at remote spots on St. John instead. The diversity of marine life in the mangroves at Hurricane Hole and around Waterlemon Cay is incredible. Shane knows a lot about the history of the islands too: Indians, sugar plantations, pirates. Norman Island was the model for Stevenson's "Treasure Island", Dead Chest Island the origin of "Dead Man's Chest (Yo-Ho-Ho...)", Sandy Cay was in the opening credits of "Gilligan's Island." We had a great mix of out-of-the-way adventures plus some more standard stuff like Foxy's and the Soggy Dollar on Jost Van Dyke. Guiding LIght might seem a little tight for 7 people, but Shane is such a genial, easy-going guy that everything worked out wonderfully. Why would anybody choose a Moorings charter costing twice as much?"

  • Shangri La

"This was a fantastic place with a great owner. Lots of room for a large family or a group. It is up in the hills so the temperature was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. It is a great way to get away from the craziness of St. Thomas especially when there are multiple cruise ships in. Thanks to Catherine and Susan (and Lola and Casper :-) ."

  • Infinity was so beautiful that we didn't want to leave to sightsee...

"Infinity was amazing. True to the pictures in the ad. Infinity pool had the most unbelievable views. Prevailing winds on top of the island kept the place very cool as opposed to being down by the beach. House was beautiful with plenty of sliding doors that disappear in the walls. Bedrooms private and spacious. Kitchen very large and had every cooking item you could need."

  • Amazing in everyway!!

"My fiancé and I were looking for the perfect place to get married. We decided on the one place we had stopped during a cruise and had always dreamed of visiting again. Of course, it was easy. St. Thomas!! We had a very small party, just 20 people. We wanted something intimate that would serve as both a thank you for coming and the most amazing vacation they’d ever experienced! A once in a lifetime, no hotel we found could provide that. We stumbled upon Coral Gardens and it was the best decision! The house is beautiful. The views are to die for. Werner and his amazing team are amazing! They were always available to assist with anything we needed, no matter large or small. We did the welcome BBQ and it was delicious. Plenty of leftovers for a few days!! Then, the reception… I can’t recommend you go with the Caribbean reception dinner! It was delicious. I am not a seafood person, but they served seared tuna appetizer with this spicy sauce that was to die for. People are still talking about it! Maybe Werner will take pity on me and get his fellow Texan the recipe.. LOL. The pools are amazing, the snorkeling was great! We saw a barracuda, which luckily, Drew told us it’s the hall monitor of the sea! It’s so cool to just be able to look out and see such beauty! I can’t recommend this place enough. I have to admit it was a tough decision picking a place all the way from Texas to St. Thomas, but I know I made the right decision!"
