  • Exactly what we needed. 5 stars because it exceeded my expectations.

"If you are looking for a budget friendly quiet place to relax for a week... this it it. I could have paid a whole lot more to sit in the same chair, with the same coffee, and the same view and not been anymore satisfied. My wife and I are ready to return. Our only concern was the driving to get everywhere but that turned out to be a breeze. Only a few minutes to beach no matter which direction you head. The owner was prompt with all correspondence. We would return with no hesitation."

  • Like heaven! Our favorite vacation ever!

"Our family goes back to this villa year after year because we love it so much. All of us, adults and young kids alike, agree that this is our most favorite vacation spot, hands down. One of the most amazing parts is the lovely private beach which is just a few minutes walk from the villa down a well-crafted stone path. The views and sunsets are unforgettably beautiful. You can jump off rocks into the warm, clear water and see lots of colorful fish. Even sea turtles. And the house is so open and spacious, with lovely indoor and outdoor spaces. The world-famous Megan’s Beach is barely a five-minute drive away (or if you’re an active type you can even water walk there from the house, as some of our family members do). The many fun activities in the town of Charlotte Amalie are nearby as well, including high-end, delicious restaurants. We always mix it up, with lots of time at the villa, enjoying all the beauty, relaxation and fun to be had there, with time in town as well, visiting Coral World, the Butterfly Farm, browsing the shops at Yacht Haven, and so on. We highly recommend a week or more at Villa Serena! Your mind, body and soul will be very grateful indeed. But don’t be surprised if, like us, you find yourself wanting to make the trip an annual tradition. Oh and the host and house manager are also very friendly and helpful, offering lots of local knowledge and taking care of any little maintenance concerns right away. I would give the listing 6 stars if I could. It's that fantastic!"

  • Wonderful experience and villa!

"My wife and I took our first trip to St Thomas and On the Rocks was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. Our lives are hectic enough that a vacation means getting away and enjoying the peace and quiet while relaxing and this may be the best place we have ever stayed for that. Often times the photos make a villa look better online than it does in person but the exact opposite was true here - it actually is as beautiful as you see. The entire open air design and views over the water have to be some of the best in the Caribbean. By visiting in early March we were able to keep all the doors in the home open through the night (as the owners recommend) and the gentle sea breeze kept the few mosquitoes around at bay. For one day we went to Magens Bay which is only a few minutes away and enjoyed the sand and the mega yachts that park themselves for the day. We did head down to red Hook for a quick visit for dinner one evening but actually preferred getting some groceries there and cooking for ourselves since the kitchen is so well equipped. If you are looking for bar hopping and late nights then this may not be the place for you as traveling on the island's narrow hilly roads on the wrong side takes quite a bit of attention. If that's what you are looking for then staying down in Red Hook is the right way to go. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a romantic getaway for relaxing peace and quiet with spectacular views then On the Rocks is perfection. To put it another way, we tend to love to explore and visit new places every time we come to the Caribbean but this is the first time we've agreed that we'll be coming back and it will be just to stay in this Villa again."
