  • The view from the top

"Gail and Curlson are wonderful hosts, friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. The rooms were spotless, and the upstairs not only spacious but filled with all sorts of useful items ranging from beach chairs and towels to an honor bar with more types of rum than I ever knew existed. The downstairs bedroom is small, but has everything a friend or second couple would need. But what really made our stay outstanding was the location, near the top of a hill outside Sapphire Bay.The view was magnificent. As soon as the sun came out, I would wander out to the porch and watch the sky paint highlights on the clouds over the bay. At night, the lights along the sides of the bay glittered like a crown. We were also surrounded by chickens, which wander freely all over the island. We could hear the roosters crowing if we left the doors and windows open. It made me feel like I was someplace else. Also, the unit is only about 5 minutes from the ferry to St. Johns, which is much less developed and frantic than St. Thomas. We went over several times and took cabs to the beach there. Overall, a delightful place to visit. It totally changed my mind about Caribbean vacations. Alan & Linda"

  • Home away from home!

"Thank you very much for such a lovely home to stay in while we spent a lovely week in St. John. We were guests and found this home beautiful. It's nice to have a pool with all the 'toys' for kids in the storage area.(if you have children) The family living area was spacious and we enjoyed all the patio doors opened with the island breeze coming into the home. The view of the bay is breathtaking. We enjoyed the shower in the 1st floor bathroom with the windows. What a way to shower...looking at paradise. The house was in perfect condition and the kitchen well stocked, even though we were out almost every meal. It was nice to know everything was there if needed. The bedrooms were very comfortable (A/C) and the closets were also spacious. There are family videos, beach towels and chairs, coolers, everything we needed was in this home. The drive to town and the beaches was an adventure...the roads are a real experience! But you really need a car/jeep to get around on St. John. The property manager was so friendly and helpful, it was a pleasure meeting her as she spent her day working on the computer internet connection. Thank you for helping us feel comfortable. Hope to stay there again in the future. It was wonderful. Your new friends from Cary, Illinois"

  • Gorgeous!

"We had an amazing week in this beautiful, perfectly put-together unit. With just two of us, it was wonderful to sleep right by the slider to the balcony, so that we could enjoy hearing the waves in the harbor lapping the shore all night. The studio unit had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. Tracy (owner) was so easy to work with, and her staff did a great job of offering us assistance with arrival details, equipment and excursions, if wanted. Thank you all for a wonderful experience - we will definitely be back to Seaside Properties!!!"

  • Luminaria is amazing!

"Our family group of seven adults and a 3-moth old baby stayed at Luminaria for two weeks. It was a wonderful experience. First, the house is beautiful--well laid out and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is well-equipped ( a good thing, because with a baby, we did not eat out). We were even able to watch a little of the NCAA basketball tournament! The living area is very spacious, and gave us plenty of room to watch basketball, read a book, take a nap, or sit in the sun, without getting in each other's way. The pool was lovely, especially for those who had to stay home with the baby while the rest of the group went snorkeling. The driveway is very steep--even with dry weather, you will need a 4-wheel drive vehicle. But that was a worthwhile trade-off to get the amazing views. I can't imagine that many places have views over both Coral Bay and the Drake Passage. We enjoyed watching the boats in the Passage and the sailboats in Coral Bay. The Viva Villa team was great, supplying us with a first-rate greeter (Magabe) and responding quickly to our complaint of the downstairs bathroom drains clogging. The downside of being on top of a mountain is that you have to drive to go anywhere. But we managed to snorkel at least once a day, and even took the baby with us a couple of times. Plenty of shade at Trunk Bay (but get there early), Maho Bay and Francis Bay. We also enjoyed our snorkel-sunset sail with Virgin Magic Charters. We'd come back in a heartbeat if St. John were a little easier to get to."
