  • Home away from home for the holiday was perfect.

"Our 2015 Christmas in a white castle on Water Island provided plenty of “white” that we hardly missed our Minnesota snow at all—from the white towels and bedding to the white sandy beach of Honeymoon Bay! Our entire family of 16, including: young grandchildren, teen cousins, adult siblings, spouses, and grandparents enjoyed our close to 2-week stay and all of the memories made. Activities together were plenty--patio card games, pool floating, sunbathing, beach relaxing, fishing, cooking fresh caught fish, Dinghy’s events, horseshoes with the locals, karaoke, snorkeling, swimming by sea turtles, hermit crabs, TV movies, Vikings football, ferry rides, touring Water Island on golf carts and touring St. Thomas with the $1 shuttle rides. The morning view of sailboats in blue water and the evening view of white twinkling St. Thomas lights were spectacular. And the short rain showers brought double rainbows. Crown Bay Marina on St. Thomas by the ferry has a really good ice cream shop, Tickles pub, souvenir shops, and groceries. (A tip to save grocery trips: We had planned some meals ahead and brought extra suitcases with items like: frozen meats, salami, cheese, trail mixes, and boxed wine.) The Gourmet grocery store by the ferry had anything else we needed. We did go through many tortilla wraps, bagels, and snack crackers. Dinners at Dinghy’s were delightful too, including the Lionfish and their French fries. Home away from home for the holiday was perfect. Thanks Lisa for offering such a great vacation palace on a fun little island!"

  • Fantastic family vacation

"We rented the villa at the last minute- literally the last minute. The owner was fantastic and incredibly responsive on a Saturday to arrange the start our vacation at Eau Claire the next day (Sunday). We brought our 3 year old son, and had an amazing vacation. The pocket beach on the property was easily accessible for our son down the stairs, and the water was warm (even in the morning), shallow, and calm. There were fish, turtles, lizards, and pelicans as constant companions making a great natural environment. It is an easy walk/swim through the water (even carrying a 3 year old) to the larger and mostly unused Little Magen's beach where there is a spot of decent snorkeling off the near side. The location is great for day trips- including to the car ferry terminal to St. John. We stayed in the 2BDR/1BA which has plenty of space, a fantastic deck looking out across the bay, and is well appointed and comfortable. We used the AC sparingly when going to bed, and the screens were very good at keeping out bugs. The laundry on the property was essential and makes packing light feasible."

  • A good fit for our family

"We started looking a year in advance for a place to stay while we were in St. Thomas for our 'weddingmoon' vacation. We planned to bring family, so we needed a place that would accomodate up to 11 people. As luck would have it there ended up being only 5 of us so there was more than enough room in this spaceous house. My 10 year old really loved the little pool for taking a dip, even after all the beach swimming we did. I must admit the adults enjoyed relaxing in the pool too, with a drink in hand as we watched the sun set. We loved being so close to Magens Bay as it was one of our favorite beaches, although the island is small, so the drive to Coki (our favorite beach) wasn't too bad either. The view was fantastic and comments about the amazing view came to be a running joke with our group ("I don't know if you noticed, but this place has an amazing view"). We even got a few great photos of us in our wedding attire at the house with the banyan tree or the ocean in the background. Victoria was very non intrusive during our visit, but we knew we could pop in if we needed anything. The house was a bit more run down than the pictures showed, but we came to the island to see the beaches and other sights, not to sit at the house, so we didn't mind. The kitchen was well appointed, and we had no trouble whipping up meals with the items on hand. There were plenty of towels for beach trips and a cooler for us to use to bring to the beach as well as flippers and other beach 'goodies'. The only thing that we weren't prepared for was for there to be quite so many mosquitos. We brought one can of bug spray, but it wasn't nearly enough for the week. Thankfully there was some left behind by other previous guests, as we needed to spray frequently. For those who choose to stay at the three palms the only bit of advice I have to give (other than to bring plenty of bug spray) is to be sure to peek in the refrigerator before you do your grocery shopping. There may be condiments, sauces, jellies, etc. already and it can save you the trouble of buying something that you already have. We forgot to look, and ended up buying jelly, even though there was a practically full jar there already! Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would encourage those with larger groups to give three palms a try."

  • Top of the Mountain Retreat

"We enjoyed our stay in St. Thomas and our " retreat on top of the mountain". The cottage was clean and well maintained. Any problems were dealt with immediately. There was plenty of cooking supplies, towels, sheets, etc. The washing machine and dryer were a bonus. We enjoyed the porch over looking the bay, and watched the cruise lines and cargo boats come in each day and leave at night. I wished there'd been a telescope so we could see the names of the ships as they sailed by us. We went to the Puelbo supermarket for our food supplies. It was were the locals go, and is off the mountain and near downtown. The customers and cashiers were very accommodating and willing to guide us in finding items. Everyone on the island was willing to help the "tourist". We found the beach at Corky to be the best place to snorkel. They have chairs (for rent), food, and a great beach! Servers even come out to the beach to sell drinks and food. Many offer free drink "tastes". We went so many times that we learned every ones name and, of course, got better service. Red Hook is an area where you get the ferry over to St. John and has a lot of eating and tourist attractions. Tuto is another area where the Walgreens and K-Mart are. Driving on the "wrong" side of the road was a little strange and took concentration! You could always use the "taxis". Iggies is a restaurant near our Mountain Retreat, right on the water offering drinks and good food. Go spend some time on St. Thomas and at the "Mountain Retreat", you will love it!"
