  • Secluded

"If you want off the beaten path, this is for you. As stated most of the people here are full time residents and they are the friendliest we have ever met, helpful, outgoing, and social, they will treat you like family in a heartbeat. Only one caveat, driving here is nerve racking and dangerous, at least for us old folks."

  • Wonderful perch on the north coast of St. Thomas

"Perched on the north coast of St. Thomas, Aqua Vista affords a dramatic, watery overlook of Drake's Passage. As advertised, the house is spacious and comfortable and well-appointed, especially the kitchens. If you rent both levels, you get the benefit of two kitchens, which may be especially useful for holiday celebrations. The villa is located on the Peterborg peninsula which lies between the ocean and Magen's Bay. The beach at Magen's, a mere five minutes by car, is reputed to be one of the best beaches in the world and our experience there did not disappoint. Perhaps what makes Aqua Vista exceptional more than anything was our host's hospitality, which began well before our trip. She sends emails that are chock full of advice about how best to enjoy St. Thomas. For example, her advice to rent a car was critical, because St. Thomas is so hilly and the roads are so narrow that walking or biking anywhere is out of the question. She also arranges to escort you to the house on arrival because many of the roads on the island are poorly marked. It takes a few days to get a feel for how to get from point A to point B on the island. She also provides a printable "Welcome Guide" loaded with tips and resources for enhancing your stay in the islands. She promises to be available as much or as little as her guests would like and she backs up that promise. For example, she loaned us some items that she expected would be hard for us to find on the island. When we had trouble figuring out how to work one of the TVs, she answered our phone call immediately and helped us troubleshoot and solve the problem. In short, we would definitely recommend Aqua Vista. (Side note: In general, Verizon Wireless subscribers should expect to have no service while away from wifi on St. Thomas. Aqua Vista has reliable wifi for email and internet service. You may also be able to call and text while at the house, but it will be via cell towers in the nearby British Virgin Islands, thus incurring international roaming charges. So, plan to stay in airplane mode while at the house, or use a work-around like WhatsApp or a phone that has a different provider. You could also purchase Verizon's Travel Pass at $10 per day per phone for each day you use international roaming.)"

  • Bluebeards Beach Club Was Awesome

"Bluebeards Beach Club was a perfect place to stay. We stayed on St Thomas for 8 Days and loved every minute. Perfect weather. Bluebeard Beach Club was clean, employees very nice, and provided fun activities. The onsite restaurant, The Lani, served good food, was convenient, and had daily or nightly entertainment. The only watch out would be that there was a $23.00 Dailey electricity charge we were informed about at check in. We rented a jeep and went to every beach on the island. My favorite beach was Smith Bay and Magans bay. Driving on the left side is a challenge and there is not one straight road here at all. The island also lacks properly signed "street signs" for navigating and locating attractions. Our activities while on island; Water Island, deep sea fishing, day trip to St Johns (with jeep), snorkeling, beach hopping, ate at Fish Tails and others, Sunday ABI beach had a fantastic live band playing, Bolongo bay entertainment on Wednesday night at Iggys restaurant, shopping at Montain Top store, and loved our beach at Bluebeards. Their beach was the most relaxing part of our trip. If and when we ever go back, I would definitely stay at Bluebeard Beach Club again!"

  • Even better 2nd time around

"This is the 2nd year in a row that we have stayed at Palmera. The place is fantastic. Every room is gorgeous and the outside pool area is amazing. Room for outdoor dining, swimming and sun bathing, or just lounging around. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked. House is so close to Magens Bay or even Linquist Beach. Each bedroom has an amazing master bathroom. The stereo system is top notch. The owners have spared no expense. We appreciated all the little things this house has like beach chairs, coolers, grill, laundry room, binoculars and even spices. Amazing."
