Our stay at Wilton Castle was the highlight of our trip to Ireland. As soon as we were led to our rooms, we regretted not booking for more nights. Our family of six stayed comfortably in the Thornhill Suite and loved every minute of it. The beds were comfortable, the apartment well stocked and cosy. The grounds are gorgeous. It was late November, so we had the whole castle to ourselves. An amazing value. Highly recommend!

EXTRAORDINARY 10-Day Stay at Bansha Castle!!!!

Our family of 14 adults (ages 21 - 79) used Bansha Castle as "home base" while taking day trips (with bus and driver Mike contracted through John Cotter Buses) throughout Ireland, going to Galway, the Connemera region, Cliffs of Moher, Limerick, Ennis, Ring of Kerry, Cork/Cobh, Killarney, Waterford, Kilkenny, Kildare and Dublin. Nearly all were 1 - 2 hours away. There was also so much to see and do in Tipperary County itself!!!! Teresa and John were AMAZING hosts, working with me for months in advance on day trip logistics so that we maximized our time in Ireland. They also went above and beyond upon our arrival, coordinating massages one day in the castle, John being the photographer for a family photo shoot, and putting me in touch with a fabulous caterer (Barbara) who made and served two dinners in the castle. The castle is EXCEPTIONAL...7 BR/7BA, a fully stocked kitchen and a dining room seating 18 comfortably, to a massive living area with overstuffed couches and a snooker table, to a huge backyard and covered patio, and grounds and flowers meticulously maintained by John. The area restaurants (e.g. Mikey Ryan's, Chez Hans, The Junction, O'Neills Bistro) were all excellent!!!! And Nellie's Pub, a 5-minute walk away, was a family-favorite for a Guinness and watching the GAA national hurling semifinals!! Everything EXCEEDED our expectations!!! (Ask Teresa if you want our itinerary to help you plan your amazing trip!!!!) THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

A sense of deep tranquility descends as one approaches the property along the tree lined, sweeping drive, with views of the mountains in the distance. The house coming into view with a giant, spreading cypress opposite the grand portico is approachably majestic, like coming upon a resting Bridgerton set. As the lake and its islands come into view behind the manicured expansive lawn, with its gravel paths, gates and surrounding wildwoods and mountains, the setting takes your breath away. It is impossible to describe in words, or even show in pictures, this indescribably beautiful, peaceful place. This is a place to restore one's soul.
The interior of the home is impeccable, tastefully decorated, and radiates charm and comfort. It is grand, but comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, Sir Maurice made sure we had a stock of basic provisions, as well as several bottles of his excellent whiskey (produced on premises) and a couple of bottles of champagne on arrival. The beds and bedding are extremely comfortable, the showers have great pressure, and the whole thing is kept absolutely pristine by the unobtrusive, charming housekeeper Kinge. The house is, among other things, an art and history museum, especially as it relates to the O'Connell's and their related clans. The memory of the great Liberator (for whom the whiskey is named), Daniel O'Connell, is pervasive.
Maurice and Francesca are perfect hosts. I wish we could have stayed longer than four weeks.

The Carraigin Castle and grounds are a special place. Once in ruins, the new owner lovingly and meticulously restored the Castle to its original glory (and added running water and electricity). Our party of ten (ages 9-78) enjoyed our stay immensely. The owners are very hospitable and shared with us the history of the site. As descendants of George Staunton on my mother's side, the time at the Castle and at Cargin Cemetery held special meaning for us. Geraldine is a delightful housekeeper. We recommend that you retain Tina to cater your first meal (an enormous feast) as the leftovers (along with soda bread, scones and fruit) will fill your party for several days. We would have liked to take the boat out onto Lough Corrib but some flight cancellations affected our opportunity to use the boat. The white castle, verdant green landscaping, and the reflection of the cloudy, blue sky on the lake is beautiful and peaceful. We hope to return again for a longer stay.

We had a reunion of 7 couples that worked together in the UK at Killaghy Castle. It is a true castle and is steeped in history. The property is very comfortable with 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Three bathrooms are en suite and 2 are “communal.” The dine in kitchen is very large and equipped with a five burner stove, double oven, 2 refrigerator/freezers, 2 microwaves, and more plates/bowls/cutlery than you can ever huge. There is a wonderful sitting room with a great fireplace and a formal dining room that will seat 16 comfortably. The village of Mullinahone is small but wonderful and you are equidistant from both Kilkenney and Clonmel which are worth visiting. T j Macs bar is a 10 minute walk and the owner, T J, can take care of all of your needs plus it is a wonderful pub. The castle owners Pat and Mary are a delight. Their daughter Eileen is the property manager, she is super responsive and pretty much immediately took care of all of our requests. We had a lovely time. I highly recommend Killaghy castle as a destination for group gatherings.
