  • Beautiful Home!

"This is a gorgeous home situated high in the mountains. The view is outstanding, especially from the pool (which our family spent a great deal of time in)! We found the beds to be comfortable and the villa to be very spacious, clean and well equipped. However, there were a few minor issues that the property owners, Peter and Edie, were aware of and indicated a desire to repair (e.g., the Jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom could not be used...and the washing machine could only handle small loads). We understood that it can be difficult to obtain specific repairs in Costa Rica. Peter was wonderful to deal with in all respects - he was very friendly, responsive and helpful. Peter and Edie gave us some recommendations about places to eat that added greatly to our trip...and they kindly left us a fruit basket, coffee...and homemade chocolate chip cookies later in the week. The home is centrally located so it is fairly easy to visit nearby towns, beaches, etc. Be sure to have a GPS on hand since many roads aren't signed. Our family took advantage of an August special at the nearby adventure park and enjoyed a guided nature walk, zip lining and lunch - highly recommended. As others have commented, it is a steep drive up to this villa...but that is the only way to obtain a view so stunning. The driveway itself can be difficult to navigate also (it is curved and gated). However, we definitely felt safe there. We found Costa Rica overall to be a beautiful country with friendly people...but it was more expensive than we had expected (equal to Canadian prices). Also, most natural sights are closed off and you must pay to see them. It was interesting to see a country that is so different in its culture and lifestyle - we were glad we had this experience and chose this villa for our stay."

  • Best host ever!

"We stayed at Casa Lantana during January 2017. The town of Atenas was inviting and easy to navigate. Hisano, our host, greeted us and helped us get everything into the rental house. She then took us to town to show us where everything was. And she took us into the grocery to make sure we were able to navigate and to help us translate package labels. We've traveled through Asia, Europe, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, and the south Pacific. We have never had the attention and service that we received here from Hisano and her son, Mikel. Three of her rental locations welcomed new people at about the same time. To make us feel welcome and to introduce us to one another, she prepared a welcome dinner for us. She and her mother hosted our delightful evening and we were able to meet other travelers that we spent time with later in our stay. The property is beautiful with a variety of trees and plantings -- including a banana-type tree and a tangerine tree -- we got to share in the bounty of both. Every 4 or 5 days a bag of tangerines would arrive. And Hisano brought us fried banana-type fruit when she made them. The house we stayed in had plenty of space and everything we needed. We asked for additional pillows and another fan. Hisano not only got them for us, she made the pillows. Her personal touch made each day of our stay remarkable. She typically stopped in each day to see how we were doing and to see if there was anything we needed. She helped us decide where to eat, where to shop, where to tour, and how to travel by public transportation. If she was going to town, she'd typically ask if we'd like to go or if she could get us anything. Her generosity was remarkable. We felt totally spoiled. It was wonderful. I hope other travelers get to meet Hisano and stay at Casa De Megumi. Staying there was a blessing for us."

  • Did not want to leave, beautiful home

"We stayed here for a week in November and had a great time. The house is situated on a hill just outside of town with nice views. Sitting on the deck early morning watching Toucans and the sunrise with a cup of coffee was really nice. The house was very clean, as were the grounds and the lovely pool. Cannot think of anything we needed. The road the house is on is very quiet and great for long walks and bird watching. The supermarkets are perhaps 10 minutes away. We went during the rainy season because the prices are usually lower, and in the 10 days we were in Costa Rica we saw rain for about an hour. Would not hesitate to go back to this home again and may do so in a year or so with family. Andrew by the way was very helpful in providing information prior to the rental and in getting us situated."

  • AMAZING!!!!

"This place was AMAZING! The owner was so sweet and showed up every day to clean the pool deck. The yard was a heaven unimaginable. Pictures don't do it justice. Perfect temperatures and the pool and waterfalls were amazing. We can't say enough ... only wish we had more time!!"
