  • Casa Sereno, perfect vacation home

"My wife and I stayed here the week of Thanksgiving and absolutely loved it. The back yard is definitely the nicest of all the homes in this gated community. The outdoor showers are pretty cool too. A quick thank you to Bob, Stefano and Juan! Exceptional customer service above and beyond what I've experienced in my other travels. Whatever you need they will take care of it. We followed the recommendation of another person's post regarding the air conditioners. They are not USA units so they are not built to run constantly. We left the units off until we went to bed. The bedrooms cool down in a matter of 10 minutes. So don't run the units all day because they'll most likely crap out. We never had a problem with our units while the neighbors did because they ran them non-stop. And you don't need them during the day because even though it was 90 degrees outside it was never that hot at the house with all of the tree cover. The breeze created by opening all of the pocket doors was fantastic. It is only an 8 minute walk down to the Langosta Beach Club or a 15 minute walk into town. We ended up spending a lot of time closer to the house because of the amenities nearby. We ate a lot at Cala Luna or Capitan Suiza which were on either side of the gated community. The food at these two hotels was exceptional. We were able to eat at a table on the beach twice at Captian Suiza. I highly recommend! What's also convenient is the little shop right across the street where you can book tours like zip line or buggies. The buggies were fantastic and be sure to request the muddy route. Don't miss the ice cream that they have in the shop as well. Very rich and creamy. My wife also enjoyed the coffee here morning or afternoon. $2 coffee or ice cream. Sure beats making your own or walking in to town. If you want to avoid the busier Tamarindo beach in front of the beach club then walk up towards Langosta Beach and follow a trail down to the water. Very quiet and exceptional beach. I would definitely stay here again if we make it back to Costa Rica. We enjoyed the quiet seclusion away from the busy town of Tamarindo."

  • Awesome house in the perfect setting!

"We stayed for 9 days as 2 couples and were blown away! The house is bright, spacious, surrounded by wildlife & has all the amenities - pool, wifi, A/C, safes. From the moment we booked Jim's son Willy kept in regular contact with us up until our arrival, and Jim even called us during our stay to check in and offer recommations of things to do! Max took great care of us during our stay! Bedrooms: This property has 3 master suites which can accommodate 3 couples as each has its own full bath & privacy (2 of the rooms have entrances separate from the main house). The true "master" is the entire second floor and it's HUGE with a large balcony. The 2 downstairs bedrooms have sliding doors and their own small patios. Kitchen: Big and has all the necessities - blender, coffee maker, fridge, stove, microwave, cutlery/dishes/pots/pans. There is a washer and dryer off the kitchen. Backyard/Pool: The pool was a good size and kept at a nice temperature. Max came in regularly to clean and maintain it (check PH levels, etc). It provides a nice ambiance at night too with the pool lights. The backyard is huge and backs onto jungle so it is very private. There is alot of wildlife - we saw a family of monkeys in the trees above, a large variety of birds and lizards. The bugs were not an issue, but it doesnt hurt to bring bug spray just in case. There is an outdoor BBQ too! The beach: The beach is a 3 minute walk from the front door. Area: There are afew restaurants and small grocery store (Wil-Mart) within walking distance which has a good assortment of staples (fruit, veggies, eggs, milk, condiments, personal hygiene items, sunscreen). Although there is some wear and tear on the property (which can be expected in a rental) it is nothing that would make us think twice about recommending Jim's beach house or staying there again! Amazing trip!"

  • Beautiful beach front rental property

"We had a large group and I thought the experience was great! The home was beautiful and unique. The location was amazing and was within walking distance of bars/restaurants along the beach which made it easy to just head out and find somewhere to eat whenever you felt like it. There were also kayaks at the property for us to use which many of us took advantage of. The pool was beautiful and had a private setting so you didn't feel like everyone on the beach was a part of your party. The staff was very kind and helpful! Overall great stay and would definitely go back!"
